1) What an ovation for the former President

2) Bill Clinton is CLEARLY delivering for Obama. This is another bad night for Clinton haters.

Clearly a good night for Obama and Democratic Party lovers.

Sounds like Bill is getting the job done.

Can't wait to hear Biden.

they're jabbering about his not planning on being present tomorrow night. Honestly, who gives a crap. After tonight, I think he's earned a night off.

I wish he had kept his sausage in his pants but I must say the Big Dawg is delivering a serious repuk smack down.

I think Hillary scolded Bill and told him to be good tonight.

Kickin' ass, Bill!

People that give good speaches, THINK. People who think make good Presidents.

Al Gore should have campaigned with Bill Clinton in 2000. Clinton is a great speaker. I hope Obama successfully picks up the Torch and takes us away from this mess of the Bush Administration. Great Job Ol' Bill.

Musta worked (is that a frying pan mark on the side of his head?) This is the Clinton I used to respect and admire. The Big Dawg delivered the goods tonight!!!

John McCain can't even remember where his house is. He thinks he is still a friggin POW.

Bill Clinton's speech was excellent, where was this speech the past 6 months?

He is very inspirational when he wants to be.

He is right, Obama IS on the right side of history.

Finally he said that Hillary supporters should fully support Barack.

Go OBAMA!

Darn, I bet the top folks of the Obama campaign are regretting not putting Bubba in prime time. This was by the far the best speech of the convention covering everything from the economy, foreign policy, and Obama exp to lead with connections to himself 92. Also some barbs at McCain which are also nice.

Hopefully Obama can step it up and match BCs speech or surpass it.

Bill's speech knocked it over the continental divide.

Yes! Bill just gave the thumbs up/ lip bite combo. totally killer move!

Great speech!

JOE BIDEN !!!. Deliver the Speech. Take on the Foreign Policy issues the opposing team is going to trumpet as their strengths. Speak the truth about Iraq, and Torture, and the terrorists of 9/11. Peace bro.

I think that Bill Clinton once again proved he is the man.
Theres a reason so many people love that man.

Thanks, but No Thanks. Haaaaaaaaaa!
You gotta love it.

Thank you President Clinton for stepping up to and beyond your duty to the future of your country. The greater good is the only avenue to individual dreams.

BANG - naaaaaaailed it!

A minute after the speach Rove is on Faux News saying that saying that Bill said "it's about me". Hannshity is saying it's just about platitudes and Obama's resume is still thin. Rove said that it's just making A case, but not THE case.

Fair and balanced? Total Faux News, totaly Faux 24/7/365.

1992-2000: best economy ever, transformed Republican half trillion dollar deficits to Clinton half trillion dollar surpluses, lowest unemployment in decades: black, white, everyone; 22.7 million new jobs - not a fluke either: 92 campaign was: "It's the economy, stupid!". The Clintons delivered big time.

Fact

Apparently Rove thought it was a disaster, like Michelle's and Hillary. I agree. How can the Dems be shooting themselves in the foot so often... wait... ooooh, that crafty guy got me!

(He's actually getting a lot of people to believe him.)

Thought Bill was awesome - lead by the power of our example rather than the example of our power! Wish he had added just one sentence in a nod to Hillary's abilities but the rest of it was terrific.

Marvin, considering that to a very large extent Clinton is responsible for creating the situation that allowed Bush to steal the 2000 election I'd say at best he's just done the minimum he could to undo some of the damage he's responsible for allowing to happen. Thank goodness he came through tonight.

Ok?

Saw Bill campaign for Hillary in the spring and he did a similarly great job, with a purely extemporaneous speech for more than 20 minutes full of facts and figures. What an orator, and with the chance to prepare for tonight, he did a fantastic job of laying out the case for Obama and against the GOP. Hope Bubba goes on the campaign trail for Obama, because he is a definite asset.

Bush and the neocrooks were able to steal the election because of the climate Slick Willy's loose wiener created. Bush would never have been able to do the damage he's done if Clinton hadn't done the damage he did with his sexual peccadilloes. Sad but true.

Kerry is being ignored by the media. Hey, he never had a swiftboat shot out from under him.

Fuck Tom Brokaw! I'm sick of his partisan hackery!

Brokaw can't mention McStain's name without prefacing it with "John McCain, POW and decorated war hero,..."

Such a tool. Tim Russert would be ashamed if he were still here to listen. Tim was better able to hide his partisan leanings far better than anyone left at NBC.

I WILL NEVER RESPECT TOM BROKAW AGAIN!

Bill Clinton showed tonight why he was President for 8 years, what an influential man, charismatic speaker, being from "Hope" is as emblematic as "Yes We Can" , the power to believe in something.

How can McCain compete with that?

Man, get a shovel.

I like Gore but it was he who messed up the 2000 election to the point where it even got that close. All he had to do was ride the coat tails of Clinton and he would of won that election big time. All he had to do was throw Clinton in some of the southern states he barely lost. He benched his best weapon.

Clinton left office with nearly a 60 percent approval rating, AFTER MONICA, which is kind of unbelievable when you think about it. I think it's safe to say if Clinton could of ran in 2000, he would of slapped around the 2nd Bush.

Remember when we had a president who could string more than two sentences together? Are you *sure* Bill can't run for a third time?

It's about time...we need a few "fire in the belly" halftime speeches. I mean the point of this whole thing is to rally the team, rev them up until they're itching to annihilate the opposition, and then turn them loose.

Senator Clinton gave one hell of a pep talk last night, President Clinton picked it up and ran with it, and now it's up to Senators Biden and Obama to close the deal. I think they can do it.

Ok?

I'll think about it.

LOL

Kicking ASS and taking names!!

McCain is going down in flames - just like he has before!

the reason gore lost in 2000 has nothing to do with clintons sex life and everything to do with the msm selling bush to the country as an honest trustworthy guy, which they knew he wasn't. unfortunately enough morons bought that lie to make it a close election so the slimeballs could steal it. and now their trying to sell mccain as the safe pick. when in reality he's the most dangerous pick ever.

{ Deleted, Flamebaiting}

OMFG. Brian Williams on NBC just announced that Hurricane GUSTAV could hit NEW ORLEANS during the GOP CONVENTION!!!

Talk about irony... not only would it be horrible, but incredibly distracting to the convention, reminding Americans about how the GOP dropped the ball on a major American city.

I can see Bill walking back stage afterwards, taking a drink and saying aloud "I... am... the [censored for the kiddies]... man." That was truly one of the finest speeches he has ever delivered.

No, your the one who just doesn't get it . Granted BC fucked up. And noone was more pissed off at him than me( well maybe Hillary and Chelsea). But what you fail to recognize is that they were already going to steal it anyway. Gore ran a so so campaign. and buy all rights should have one the election. That is until the SCOTUS stepped in and stopped the recount.
Either way, they decided no matter what, they were going to take the WH and implement the policies that we're witnessing come to fruition. We were robbed. Blaming Bill won't change that one iota.

Bill was good, the Party LOVES him and he appreciates it. Actually most in the country appreciate Bill, things were good when he was in office. We were still a country to be proud of.
I think he handled it very well, said what needed to be said but didn't go anywhere he should not have. He and Hillary have supplied enough slogans to last for a few months.

Kerry was more on fire than I can ever recall him being. I was screaming "Go John!" in the car. That was kickass.

Woulda been fantastic if we saw more of that 4 years back, but there ya' go. More of same, please.

I'm sorry to hear that LA. See ya around bud.

Why isn't Jim Webb speaking???

This John Kerry would have won in a landslide. Must have felt good to get a little payback and throw "He was for it before he was against it" line back at the GOP. That's going to sting!

Awesome speech by Bill.

Where Enron stole money from hard working ppl. When 9/11 was in my eyes [deleted] to make money via death, where a president is a complete asshole, where the SS in the former nazi germany would be proud of the tactics being used today. Where the poor and dying are KICKED out of a hospice because they didint expire on time. Where there is insurance for all those working or a sub insurance for those that cannot. Where the USA goverment hired a former statzi member for HLS.

Iam sick and f...king tired as a american living over seas having to explain or try to wth went wrong with america.

...weren't they a Doo-Wop group from the early 60s?

Here I thought they were a division of the Decepticons.

Wait a second!

Another great line from Kerry:

"Before he ever debates Barack Obama, John McCain should finish the debate with himself"

But the greatest visual anyone can present is what Kerry said about McCain, 3 months after 9/11, when he said "Next up Baghdad!" on a carrier, contrast that with the statements of Barack Obama on Iraq.

"Mission Accomplished" again in the White House?

CNN are really getting my nerves. 2 VP candidates have spoken tonight and they've never broken their chatter to cover their speeches.

Also, why do we need to hear hear Wolf presenting the veteran video? Chet Edwards has been given that job.

I don't get it. What your up too. I know your pissed off. But , this is the way this played out. It's out of our control now.
We need to unify to kick these fuckers out of office. We need your vote like everyone elses. Otherwise, get ready for 4 -8 more of the same old shit.
I still consider you my friend LA. I understand your pissed. But this is politics. it's not personal.

My God. Kerry just steamrolled over McCain and the republicans. Strongest speech of the conventions so far.

And yet the Corporate Media didn't bother to cover it.

Same with Gov. Brian Schweitzer's speech on energy - the CNN's campaign coverage, brought to you by Exxon-Mobile, and MSNBC's, brought to you by Clean Coal, didn't bother to cover it.

Bill rocked the house, and I've never heard Kerry be more animated (he should've /could've used some of that in his campaign)

Anyone else notice that FOX refused to air Kerry's speech?

Oh, you remember when Bush's brother sold us those faulty pumps to keep New Orleans dry?

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2007-03-13-new-pumps_N.htm

I was in tears after Bill's speech and after I realized that Obama really is our nominee.

Bill did a fantastic job -- he did more than endorse Obama. He built a picture of him that will help many voters feel confident that Obama will be a great president.

So Kerry ripped into the cons? Okay I missed it damn.

I hope Biden rips into them and turns them inside out upside down before disposing of them in the nearest sewage canal in Denver.

Look at this Repug shill on MSNBC...where do they get these people

And that damn Tom Brokedick...talking about deferrments for Clinton, what about Rush, and Cheney?

What do I think of the speeches? I think I'd like to see them linked in their entirety on the site.

ChrisB @ 108:

Dick Cheney reminds me of that line from the Godfather II.

"The man's been dying from the same heart attack for twenty years."

They keep conducting interviews regarding the "riff" and healing it...it is healed. But, if you don't keep asking the obvious questions, then I guess you won't have a story.

Alright, Biden is on next. I'm a big fan of good cop , bad cop in politics.
Mike Murphy can suck McCane's old baaaawwwls.

I remember a speech thaat Kerry was giving on CNN back in 04. They cut it off in about 5 minutes. I think the next day Bush was giving a speech and they covered the whole thing. Kind of like what they are doing now.

We'll need all the help we can get. Bill's included.

clinton gave the democratic rap and next is golf with bush sr. then off to the mideast to pick up some paychecks. gore at least spoke out against the bush administration when few would. carter too. i didn't hear a peep from clinton. by the way, why are the dems letting fox control how the convention is seen? don't the dem leadership know what fox is or are they that stupid?

I suppose this is MSNBCs way of saying "hey, were not biased." So which Dem will be on the set for the Republican National Constipation?

somebody should ask brokaw if he ever served.

By all means, CNN. Take a fucking corporrate break. Iraq Veteran Tammy Duckworth is skewering Bush and McCain for betraying the troops.

Scum.

MSM sucks thats the bottom line. It's a farce. They can't even cover their own blatant manipulation without people noticing.

what i would really like to have seen was for chelsea clinton to ask for a moment of indulgence to say this....

"when i was a defenseless teenager...john mccain made a terribly disparaging joke about me. it was very cruel and has upset me for many years.....this is the kind of man the republicans want you to vote for president.....but i suppose it's all right because he's a former pow"

Duckworth for Senate!

President Kerry gave a great speech. Too bad America didn't hear it in 2004. I did, but as is happening now, the TV outlets ignored what he really said. I hope people are a little smarter now, but I doubt it.

Rethugs are shitting themselves. They're trying to jump into the news cycle. And of course, Dana Bash and Wolf are there to help them.

Since I'm watching this on Yahoo (they ration it, I've got to restart it every 5 minutes or so) I'm seeing all these remarkable people speaking. If I'm understanding this correctly you're saying that the slimeballs on MSM are talking over these Americans? There has to be a very special place in the Hades for the likes of those sleazes. They truly have no souls.

YesWeCan @ 14:

Bill Clinton's speech was excellent, where was this speech the past 6 months?

He is very inspirational when he wants to be.

He is right, Obama IS on the right side of history.

Finally he said that Hillary supporters should fully support Barack.

Go OBAMA!

Too bad the very dull Dean and very petulant Pelosi are so damned jealous they had to rig things to make sure the Clintons could not be important in the party.....
but they failed...

Buchanan sounds like he wants to change party! LOL!

What about Guantanamo! I have to agree.

Have the Republicans decided whether they are going to open their convention by waterboarding an Arab, or playing a random sample of wire tap tapes?

I was not shocked by Bill. He is a powerful speaker & so is Hillary. They were both very effective, no question, but they always do well in public setting like this. I was stunned by Michelle Obama. Wow... what a woman. I really liked Dennis Kucinich & the Gov. from Montana. Both were excellent. John Kerry... he's just not exciting... well that was what I thought. He was very strong tonight. He looked like he would have been a fine president. Terrific job by all thus far.

Now... Go get 'em Lunch Bucket Joe... don't hold back.

I would have voted for McCain in 2000, but not now, not for the McSame 2008 version.

Pelosi's such a phony.

That girl was a moron. And Jill Biden should introduce him.

Oh no, Pelosi!

No doubt the Neo-Con business conglomerates own the media in this country. Sadly. We are up against it all. Neighborhood to neighborhood is how it is going to have to get done.

Nice touch with Bill reminding everyone that he, too, was labeled as "too young and inexperienced" to be president back in '92.

I've been watching the DNC on DISH channel 211....HiDef, full coverage, no talking heads. I recommend it.

I would have liked Jill Biden to introduce him too. Because Pelosi should be reading Kucinich's articles of impeachment and get to her job as Speaker of the House.

This McCain VP talk on CNN is obnoxious. Don't they know it's Leiberman? I've been seeing new online ads featuring the two of 'em all day today.

Alright, I have to turn off NBC. Anne Curry's just badgering, badgering, badgering Susan Rice. It's like an interrogation. Horrible coverage, asking stupid questions.

Keep them coming, if we get 35 and can all agree on two we all like, I will have 100 printed and mail them out to message board commentors that have a clue.

Kerry's speech was great--really fiery. If only he had given it four years ago, every day! and the assholes on NPR (Ron Elving and Matt Continetti) dismissed it with a yawn, Ron saying it was a "parody" of Kerry's candidate speech in 2004 (Huh?) and Matt saying it was "about the past." Brilliant, fucking brilliant.

No wonder I hate NPR reporting. Bring back the old Air america!

When they stand together for a head shot photo...they look like they have two lab rats on their heads.

Here's Bidens chance to Atone for his sins.

Make no mistake, each night when I kiss my children goodnight, I am voting for their future. I have already experienced life and will continue to do so, but my children come first.

I was just about to comment in the earlier thread about the coverage by the cable networks and how lousy it's been. I was going to say how much I've been enjoying the coverage on MSNBC. Then they cut away to commercial break just as John Kerry started to speak. I've switched over to C-SPAN and it's really nice to get to see all of the presentations instead of just the main ones.

Kerry was great. That bit about McCain being for things before he was against them had me cracking up. His speech really needed to be seen and I hope it gets better coverage over the next day or so than it did when he gave it.

I wasn't able to hear all of President Clinton's speech, but I very much enjoyed what I caught.
