I guess Bill Clinton has made it known that he will not remain in Denver to hear Obama's speech tomorrow night. The McCain crowd said they are going to follow Bill's lead and they will clear out before the speech too. If it's true that Bill won't stay, why won't he? Couldn't he just do this for his party?

I just watch the speeches on c-span and miss all the gossip and backroom shenanigans.
And so far I'm loving it.
There have been several really inspiring rather polished speeches by notables, and just as many not-so-polished speeches by ordinary folks that have touched my heart.
Montana Gov Scweitzer, Massachusetts Gov Patrick, Michelle & her brother ..
Lily Ledbetter (whose jury-awarded settlement against GoodYear for gender discrimination was overturned by the Supreme Court) gave a wooden speech in her halting Alabama drawl .. that tore my heart.
And the auto worker who'd just lost his job and health insurance & just been diagnosed with diabetes .. he almost lost it in the middle of his speech ..
Jo at 30, I heard the story about Bill on tv so don't bet on it being true. Sadly, it wouldn't surprise me if it is. I don't know what has happened to Bill, but he just doesn't seem like the guy I used to admire so damned much.

When speech time comes, we watch them on C-span. I catch up with the bs and gossip during the day time, if I can stomach it. It's kind of fun sometimes watching the talking heads try to justify their own existence by talking to one another.
I've been noticing bits of the latest right wing "Obama is too popular & inspiring & good to be president" backasswards smear while monitoring the MSM coverage today. So as an unrepentant elitist, spelling "Perikles" with a "k" instead of a "c" because I know a little about the ancient Greek language, I can only imagine anyone in public service would be nothing but humbled by the comparison.
