It's not John McCain's fault that is birthday falls on the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina's landfall. But I will never, ever forgive him for yukking it up with President Chucklenutz over birthday cake while my city drowned.
For this and a hundred other reasons, he is an asshole of epic proportions.
The repug talking heads already have their talking points down pat. Obama and Biden don't have as much experience as Palin; they have never held an executive office such as mayor or governor. Obama and Biden only know federal stuff. And they have never given birth to five children. That is most important. Do these repub fools actually think we are that stupid? Answered my own question.
this is a social/cultural pick that is NOT going to hold up.
i personally can't imagine her knowing anything about
georgia,pakistan,iran,tajikistan,turkmenistan....sunni,shia
this has nothing to do with her gender to me. there is NO way she is ready to be president.
i give her credit though if she can raise 4 children while being v.p. of the united states that's something that many
i believe would find more than challenging.
McCain heard he was doing well in the polls. He got to feelin' mighty confident. So he sent a letter by Pony Express to the Yukon. Palin flew down to meet him in Dayton. And he announced her candidacy at a time when Barack Obama had swung ten points in the Gallup Poll.
And now everyone was wonder: What were you thinking?
Well... he thought he was winning... that's what he thought.
That's why we need a President who knows how to use the internet. He wouldn't have so much misplaced confidence.

I agree. Palin's gender is not the issue and from my point of view it never will be. What gets me is that Palin brings absolutely nothing to the McCain campaign when it comes to experience and yet it is very likely that due to McCain's advanced age that she may have to assume the role of President of the United States someday. I think McCain would have been wiser to select a VP that could easily fill in if he becomes incapable of carrying out his duties.
How about the photo of John McCain and Bush with a birthday cake last year during the Katrina disaster and the caption reads Happy Birthday John McCain Let's eat cake.
Joe O@35: The good news, Sarah P. has raised 4 children, and changed a lot
of diapers, so am sure she can easily become experienced in changing McLame's Depends a couple of times each day.
I find it offensive that McCain is using Palin as some interchangeable woman who can fill the Hillary supporters' vote. Pretty damn offensive to woman if ya ask me... Like, "hey, you can vote for this (random/miscellanous) chick!"..... I don't think the GOP will be having it.
To quote Palin: "What is it exactly that the VP does every day?"
As a woman who voted for Hillary I find it incredibly insulting that they think this will take our vote from Obama! She's just a younger, female version of the same.

OK, I'll play... Happy birthday Mr. John McCain...mister self proclaimed 'war hero', (yea, got that meme... reads like comedy). Hope yer havin a fine time of it old man... Are yas happy? Didja get all the presents ya wanted? Didja blow out all those candles and shit??? Goood.. Now go home.. No really, go the fuck home!! GET!! And don't let the door hit yas in the ass on the way out.. And don't come back!!! EVER!!!! Fucking asshole!!!! Gee did I put too fine a point on it??? heheh JD
Great! He's in his seventies and picked inexperienced pro-life, pro-oil, pro-drilling flunky as his VP. Unbelievable.
What does he care about OUR future, he will not be around to see or care that the great American dream wil be the exclusive domain of the 2%.
The bane of OUR democracy is the trickle down economics championed by McCain, the Bush Cartel, and the Repug Party.
With one voice we should be repeating what John Kennedy said: "a rising tide lifts all boats", but in a trickle down economy, that rising tide lifts only THEIR boats!
Doggiebobo@37, LOL. But seriously. If you listen to MSM, the Repugs are rejoicing. But on the web, they are severly pissed of. Romney is furious, so is Pawenty. I have a feeling the Repug Convention will be interesting.
Repubs could care less WHO Sarah Palin is or what her record is....She is a Republican. The Republicans will win the elections by hook or by crook. They've done it before and thet will do it again. They could care less about something as trivial as "qualifications". Tax breaks for the rich......
While watching Palin give her speech on MSNBC I noticed that when Cindy McCain rose to applaud, both arms were unadorned. Moments later she has a cast on. What's up with that? Is she trying to garner the coveted carpal tunnel vote?
P.D.@42: Precisely the reason I scraped my cable TV, as more should do, and
don't watch the 24 hour "liberal"(ha-ha) main stream media political pundits and
entertainers who have no objectivity as to reality, but only to their Masters(BIG

and not the BS spouted by the MSM.
Sean-B@50: If Sarah is not available for a beer, then put on your over-alls and
go join her husband at BP and do some other fun things like drilling, drilling, and
more drilling.

Could someone post the video?
The phrase "spousal abuse" -- as in an angry twist of the arm -- darkly comes to the farthest reaches of the mind.
I'd like to think not, of course ... but it IS hot-tempered, hair-trigger McSame we're talking about ...
McCain's pick of Palin, a woman with very little executive experience, a woman who has approved a 26 billion dollar oil pipeline to Canada instead of the United States shows that McCain's decision was made from an adlolescent place of "I'll show you mentallity" instead of one of wisdom and judgment and will be a disaster because this is not a game but serious, deadly business! Maybe McCain really is senile and confused and incapable of making sound judgments. This woman will be a heartbeat away from being in charge of the highest office in the land. If she was Qualified, that would be different but she is not and that is the bottom line. Not to mention that his argument that Barack has no experience And Is not Ready is out the door, his strongest argument against Barack.
Is this decision Historic or Hysterical or a mockery to our political system? A game changer or a roll of the dice? And should a Presidential candidate play russian roulette with the people's business? It is sort of sad to me personally, that McCain with all the problems we face here, did not have the People's interest at heart but rather a desire to win for winning's sake and did not think of the consequences of his actions and what it would mean for this country if she had to be sworn in as President of the United States!
Ironically, the very things he belittled Barack on -- empty suit, no experience -- he got in his own V.P. Pick, Sarah Palin!
However, in this evil ploy to pull Hillary women from Barack with no consideration as to whether or not this woman has the ability and experience to lead the United States here and on a world scale shows a very adolescent way of thinking, and a lack of sound judgment and as McCain's first executive decision, a disaster! Through this pick, McCain has just shown that he is NOT READY TO LEAD, and it also proves that he is not really serious about solving America's problems!

I'm worried about Gustav. Since the human issues are pretty obvious, I've begun worrying about the political fallout.
I seem to remember a hurricane in FL in '04 bumping up bush's numbers, and I worry that Gustav might help McCane. If Gustav hits and the humanitarian crisis is mild, the gop and their media enablers will scream nonstop about how awesome they are at running things. They will completely ignore the pre-Katrina failure to fund infrastructure and the post-Katrina catastrofuck of cronyism and incompetence.

LOL, I'm 71 but I would never have a cake with more than one candle on it.
pretty funny though
...he told Jim Lehrer in 2000 he would be too old to run in 2008.
My Palin theory is that he already knows he's going to lose and decided he might as well enjoy the ride until then.
So he picked someone he'd like to bury his Hanoi to the Hilt in.
