McCain is toast

And his friend Hanna is close behind. Originally forecast to hit the east coast of Florida, but now it looks like she might swing into the gulf as well. That's just a guess on my part.

Not to sound sexist but how is a woman who just had a 5-month old down syndrome baby going to be able to travel around the country stumping for McCain/Palin?

Either she

a) is taking a down-syndrome infant around the country nd is therefore not doing what is in the best interest of the child OR
b) She is not breast feeding the child and is therefore not doing what is in the best interest of the child

Which is it Mrs. Palin, do you hate you baby so much that you are willing to take him on countless flights and bus rides over the next 3 months or do you just not care about his health and future well being?

Sarah Palin is against abortion if you have enough money to throw at a nanny for your special needs newborn while you take on the most absent Mom job in the country.

I'm sure most women in the lower economic classes can understand this.

This is how McCain really came to choose Palin.

The Deadliest Catch, she is. McCain will not even wait to get elected to commit a high crime and misdemeanor -- cheaply selling out the national security for blatantly transparent political expediency.

Let's give credit where due:
McCain said he wouldn't have a Cheneyesque VP. He sure kept that promise!

I saw her last night on a CNBC interview where, though articulate enough in the aggregate, kept referring to things she thought were "cool," (e.g., oil drilling technology) and characterizing her husband as Alaska's "First Dude."

Not kidding.

Moose-eating, Pro-Life, Pro-Gun, daze-eyed ex-beauty queen and the nation’s #1 GILF1 Sarah Palin, whose political experience includes unveiling Alaskan quarters while wearing unbelievably hot boots and a whorish little skirt, will be John McCain’s Vice Presidential running mate and possibly the Hot Buttered Ass for which he leaves his current wife once her political influence and money runs out or her many face-lifts explode like an overtaxed suspension bridge.

today's funniest openning paragraph
thank you, clusterdouche!

I'm sure there are many LGFers who will line up to get shot in the face with moose rifles.

yep, sarah got a gun

And not to mention that two other depressions are forming close to Africa. The hurricanes are lining up one right after the other.

She is very detailed on her financial disclosure forms. On an attachment she notes of other economic interests:

Last spring my sixth-grade daughter periodically shared rides to/from youth basketball league practices with teammates,, including daughter of lobbyist Wendy Chamberlin and joined other girls in traveling to summer basketball camp under Ms. Chanberlin’s watch.

Washington Post Investigations
Exclusive: Chief Fired by Palin Speaks Out

The July firing of Alaska Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan by Gov. Sarah Palin, who was announced as John McCain's running mate on Friday, has unearthed a stream of soap-opera-like details about Palin, her husband, her family and top state appointees. The controversy has also cut against Palin's reputation for holding an ethical line and standing up to colleagues in the Republican Party over matters of principle.

Monegan, 57, a respected former chief of the Anchorage Police Department, said in an interview with The Washington Post's James V. Grimaldi on Friday that the governor repeatedly brought up the topic of her ex-brother-in-law, Michael Wooten, after Monegan became the state's commissioner of public safety in December 2006. Palin's husband, Todd, met with Monegan and presented a dossier of information about Wooten, who was going through a bitter custody battle with Palin's sister, Molly. Monegan also said Sarah Palin sent him e-mails on the subject, but Monegan declined to disclose them, saying he planned to give them to a legislative investigator looking into the matter.

Palin initially denied that she or anyone in her administration had ever pressured Monegan to fire the trooper, but this summer acknowledged more than a half a dozen contacts over the matter, including one phone call from a Palin administration official to a state police lieutenant. The call was recorded and was released by Palin's office this month. Todd Palin told a television reporter in Alaska that he did meet with Monegan, but said he was just "informing" Monegan about the issue, not exerting pressure.

"She never directly asked me to fire him," Monegan said.

it don't look good!

Hey, Mike Finnagin. Great article from Alaska.(Mudflats)
Who'd a thunk it? Go ask someone from Alaska. Me thinks they would know better than anyone else.
again, Thanks Mike.

well, from what I gather Palin is becoming the darling of the radical Christian right for her so called religious views. The problem is, social issues are all those religious people ever look at. McCain's campaign lacks any sort of economic experience and McCain's own judgment on foreign policy is also in question. I think McCain is hoping to ride the Christian right into the White House and then dump them like Bush did. However, Bush had all three pillars (social Conservatives, foreign policy hawks, economic Conservatives) when he arrived at the White House. McCain can barely hold one of those.

this still could be posted with the video

How many albatross' can one Presidential Candidate have around their neck? I had previously thought that McCain's lobbyists would be his undoing, but since the right wing is closing their eyes to the fact that some of his lobbyists could probably name Satan (and all Hell subsidiaries) as one of their defendants/employers, perhaps this VP choice will not have the detrimental effect we would think.

Never underestimate the stupidity of the American voters. This pick, if you watched any of the MSM coverage on teevee, will only galvanize that truism.

McCaint's cavalier, some might say 'throw-away', nomination of The Cooter from Wasilla indicates to me just how deeply UNSERIOUS the GOPukes are about the coming Electoral Dysfunction.

This suggests one of two possibilities regarding the anticipated outcomes of the coming festivities, by the GOP: 1) the GOPukes have recognized that they hopelessly behind, cannot win, and are throwing red meat to their base; or 2) the GOPukes know the fix is in, the theft is on, and they don't need to worry who the VP candidate is, it could be a convicted child-molestor and it wouldn't affect the final outcome...I think the latter is the more likely alternative...

Yo.

at-Largely, you are right! Palin is no Mrs. Clinton. Palin actually has filled a role in an Executive office.

Oo, ouch! Taking a stab at the downs syndrome child, are we curtilingus?? That's low. Stats show that 9 out of 10 women who have a pre-natal test for downs syndrome, abort the baby. Curious which economic group the women from that stat come from... Not to mention Palin was not even selected to be a VP candidate when she decided to keep the baby.

Peace out.

I don't know squat about Sarah Palin. But I just can't think of her name without thinking of Michael Palin:

The mudflats weblog is amazing. It's the inside scoop on Palin and a LOT more....It should be mandatory reading for everyone that is interested in the mechanics of how republican stupidity works..

It could have been used as a GREAT vetting tool for the McSame campaign but NOOOO..they gotta send their own folks - AFTER THE FACT!

Just breath taking what has been done....

The answer is that McInsane wasn't thinking at all was he? The guy needs some health care. McInsane should think about his needs and vote Obama then at least he can be assured of health care.

who the f-bomb does this guy think he's kidding.
I guess the economy is okay because herr bush says so.
i'll be the happiest schmuck on earth when this guy is impeached.
Then again you'd have to be a schmuck to believe he will be impeached.

Bush points to signs that economy is on upswing.

I think that there is nothing to see here people....

this is mccains 'harriet miers' moment, remember when bush baited and switched for roberts? No doubtedly another Karl rovian ploy all over again....

so john and sarah aren't going to be the GOP candidates?

Please dick cheney, tell us who it is then?

What Kind Of Vetting Process Did McCain Use?

At this point I'm guessing...eeni...meenie...minee...holy crap! look at the cans on that one! (was McCain's thinking)

Thanks for the shout out, Mike. I did the John McCain - NOPE design you linked above.

I have a new pro Obama design too: America's BAraCK

Thanks again.

Maccain's selection of a little-known Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate on Friday underminds his actual understanding of the the dangerous period we live in today as a nation whose foreign policy and national security readyness and credentials are threatened. As a supporter of John Maccain's strenght on national security, I am very discouraged about his choice of vice president. I did not know that John Maccain was so weak to the extreme that he will give in to the pressure from Evangelical Republicans threat of not voting for him come November if he does not put their choice of Sarah Palin on his ticket. Is this the maverick I have always thought about? IT IS A SHAME AND AN EMBARASSMENT THAT JOHN MACCAIN WILL GO SO LOW SELECTING A LADY WHO IS NO WHERE CLOSE TO THE QUALITIES OF HILLARY CLINTON EVEN IN THE CASE WHERE JOHN MACCAIN AND THE REPUBLICAN BASE THOUGHT THE SELECTION OF MRS. PALAIN COULD REDIRECT THE FEMALE VOTERS FROM HILLARY CAMP TO THE SUPPORT OF JOHN MACCAIN. THIS LADY DOES NOT HAVE THE QUALITIES TO LEAD THIS COUNTRY AS HILLARY CLINTON DOES. IT WAS A COMPLETE STRATEGIC BLUNDER IN HIS CHOICE OF THIS LADY. THE BIGGEST QUESTION IS, HOW WILL AMERICA FEEL SAFE WITH A JOHN MACCAIN PRESIDENCY WHEREIN HE IS 72 AND A LITTLE WEAKER IN HEALTH, AND A VICE PRESIDENT WHO IS NOT READY AT ALL TO ADDRESS THE PRESENT CHALLENGES OF OUR TIME? THIS IS A SERIOUS MATTER TO GIVE CONSIDERATION TO. THE WOMEN OF AMERICAN ARE VERY SMARTER THAN FOLLOWING JOHN MACCAIN'S CHOICE ONLY BECAUSE OF GENDER PURPOSE. THE WOMEN WHO SUPPORTED HILLARY KNEW FULLY WELL THAT HILLARY WAS READY TO LEAD THIS COUNTRY AT ANY MOMENT, AND NOT ONLY BECAUSE THEY WERE HUNGRY TO SEE A WOMAN IN THE OVAL OFFICE.

In conclusion, I must congratulate Maccain on his decision to give the presidential election to Barack Obama. I therefore recine my previous notion that Maccain is stronger on national security. Instead, I truly believe that Barack Obama has the right judgement that's why he choce Joe Badine as a running mate. Obama clearly understand the current threat of our time. He must be the one to lead this country and not Maccain who is easy to give in for political gain,, and not the benefit of his country at the crucial time. Maccain, what an odd way of ending your legacy!
