Apparently Kelly has been held captive for five years, too. There simply is no other explanation.

"Well I want to tell you in about nine months of traveling with John McCain and hearing hundreds of speeches I have never heard him talk in such great detail about his own personal story with respect to his time as a P.O.W. He has been resistant to do that over time."

That was a joke, right?

Good to know that weve created so many potential presidents in Gitmo.

McCain is going to be on Face the Nation Sunday. I think Bob Schieffer should just get it over with and plant a big wet smack on McCain.

Kelly must be dumber than a bag of doorknobs...

According to the Bush Administration, Johnny was never McTORTURED, instead he was McEnhanced Interrogated.

Whoa.....Makes me think of his initial bid for senate stating he was a POW.........oh wait thats right...hasn't that been his only campaign platform.....Look at me...I was a POW 40 freakin years ago!! But what have you done in the past 40 years......well I have lied cheated an stolen to become one of them wealthiest men in america.....oh, but I was a POW, so I deserve it.

My God Kelly call it for what it is, He is EXPLOITING it. McCain has one thing in his corner, his service. But like Guilini before him, he will risk his honor by using it.

Burpppp. Sorry I just threw up. Was watching part of the Faux Noise All-Stars and
Freddie Barnes just said..." I think McCain's speech last night was better than Obama's."
Is he a fucking idiot...oops that retorical....we know that he plus all of Faux folks
fit that category. What World do these "fair and balanced" imbeciles live on?

Yeah,

fuck McCain.

Therefore, buy into Obama.

The logic is faultless.

McCain sucks. Therefore, vote for Obama.

:(
Jack Cafferty's wife passed away.

A little OT. Has anyone else noticed that the CNN bunch continually report that the polls show a dead heat between Obama and McSame. This is the one point among many others that they are getting away with day after day.

Bob Dole actually fought the Nazis and lost the use of his arm and I still dont remember this much bragging.

I have never heard him speak IN SUCH DETAIL about it, either.
If someone has, please show me where.

The idea that he's been hesitant to speak of it lately is ridiculous, but if you parse it carefully, she's saying he's been "resistant" (strange word) to speak of it in such detail.

Doggie@7, Did you see the Obama interview with O'Liely. I was so digusted at the demeaning attitude I had to turn it off. When Billo is interviewing Repugs, It's all light banner and respect. Just shows me what a Democrat needs to do. Avoid Faux News all together.

kelly!? what happened?

Well, Obama never was a POW, he (Obama) is so inexperienced. *sarcasm*

bubba @ 11:

I don't remember that campaign well (I was too young), but I'm hard-pressed to believe that Dole's platform was as thin as McBush's.

I've been trying to find it but haven't had any luck, but back in 2000 (when I considered voting for McCain), Conan O'Brien had a clip on his show where, after seeing McCain talk about his POW status, O'Brien says, "oh, so you're a veteran? I hadn't heard!" The delivery was perfect, but I can't find the clip anywhere online.

Oh, it's a CNN poll. They went out to a number of various bars, visited some alley-ways, and talked w/participants at the Repug Convention last night...That is the source
of their polls....and of course Anderson Cooper was included in the survey; only it took
him a little while to respond inasmuch as he was busy at the time giving McLamebrain
a blow job; getting seconds, right after Crissy Matthews.

Kelly O'Donnell has been carrying McCain's water for a long time.

And one more thing: I can't stand the way she bobs her head when she's trying to make a point. It's as though she thinks the public won't understand what she's saying unless she drives it home with *Uuuhhng* a little body English.

We get it, Kelly. You think McCain's, like, totally awesome.

Considering how the Bush WH has paid off other journalists in the past, I would have to say that it's very possible that
Kelly O’Donnell has been bought. She just can't be that ignorant.

Maybe Kelly O'Donnell was in a POW camp for the last 40 years and had not ever heard John McCain give a speech before.

Barack Obama is an African American. Did Kelly know this? Quick, somebody tell her!

Almost as reluctant as Giuliani is to talk about 9/11.

No, did not see interview....I actually do not watch Faux Noise; just happened to
walk into my living room where my daughter was surfing and caught enough of the
"Faux All-Stars" to make me up-chuck...and quickly change channels.

Did she say his advisors tell him to use his experience as a metaphor for what he wants to do? Excuse my French but what the fu(k does that mean?? What’s he going to do? Lock himself in the Oval Office and survive on bread and water for as long as his term lasts, or what?? These people are getting really bizarre IMHO.

That's just too good not to repeat. Nice work!

Alerta alerta @ 15:

Well, Obama never was a POW, he (Obama) is so inexperienced. *sarcasm*

Sarah Palin was a P.O.W.. Well, almost. As Commander-in-Chief of the Alaskan National Guard, I think Canada was thinking about it.

waaaaaaaa?

He's been holding out on "Maverick", as well. That is his October surprise, "Hey look, ya'llins, I'm a MAVERICK!"

The POW card used as an excuse from lapses in his memory and inability to think on his feet (which truly is part of the PTSD syndrome) to his inability to answer questions about women's rights issues, to the economy, and even to justify his selection of Sarah Palin following the disclosure that both he and she lied about the sale of the plane on Ebay for a profit - both of which did not happen - and it was sold "under the radar" for a loss to a Palin contributor and a megabuck GOP contributor. More to come on that potential corruption and reduction in price as a "special favor"...hmmmmm...this has a definitely shady smell to it all.

The POW has now become so trivialized that it's a national joke which is sad because John McNo Brain has made it so. Now he will have the veterans to answer to because he's used it as his One Trick Pony ad nauseum in every speech he makes.

But there's something much more significant occurring here tonight.....as the McCain*Palin lies are being outed by the media and the brother in law speaks to the press about the tasing event and what actually occurred, we see a woman prone to gross exaggeration and downright lying in our faces. Is this George Bush in a skirt? I'm beginning to wonder.....

In the brief span of 7 days, we've now caught Palin in how many outright lies? Lemme see: Bridge to Nowhere which was a crock of crap the way she presented it. We now know this was a lie on Day one of her intro to the country.

Then we found out about the pregnancy lie she hoped to trick us with by marrying off her pregnant daughter and then claiming that the pregnancy occurred following the wedding - another malignant crock of crap.

But we don't even have to extend any of her outright lies and exaggerations to her family at all because we have enough regarding ethical investigations of abuses of power, connections to the Lobbyist Silver who is connected to indicted felon Abramoff, her ties to the Alaska Secession Movement, and now she's even lied in our faces during her acceptance speech in front of millions of americans to paint a fraudulent picture of herself as a reformer. Folks, it doesn't get any scarier than this!

I believe what we see her is the machinations of a pathological liar. If she's willing to lie to us on the national stage about something like selling a plane on ebay AND making a profit when both of those assertions are lies, then what else is Palin willing to lie to us about in the future?

What's more....what can we now believe about her biography at all? Once a liar/always a liar. She lied in our faces about the Bridge on Day One. She thought she got away with that lie so she exaggerated her resume by lying about the plane and the profit just two days ago. No damn wonder she's hiding out! No damn wonder this pathological liar feels insecure around the media.

Imagine this: Imagine Barack Obama telling Joe Biden not to do interviews or speak to reporters? Imagine the idiocy of that! Imagine Barack Obama selecting a running mate that he felt "wasn't quite ready to meet the media"....just imagine the idiocy of that for one moment here. She's not quite ready?? What the heck does that mean? Is that what she will claim if elected and McCain is sidelined by his cancer either temporarily or permanently and she assumes the duties of Veep? Not ready? Hello....this is not a curtain call for the talent contest in a beauty pageant, foks!

This is not a dry run of the opening number in the Miss Alaska Pageant. Evidently, she's even more of a hick than we originally thought in that she possibly does believe herself to be qualified - and lacks the appropriate psychological insight to know that she is horrifically and profoundly unqualified!

This is amazing stuff. Utterly astounding that we, the people, are even having this discussion in such serious times.

She has trivialized intelligent, honest women everywhere with her lies. She can no longer be trusted at all. She's hiding out in some corner and not allowed to speak because there's one thing which John McSame does now know: Sarah Palin is a total liability. Sarah Palin, for all of the puff and fluff and energy she brought to his flagging base, will tank it like the Titanic once we get to the bottom of this "plane-gate" and why it was sold at a loss and sold to a Megabuck Campaign contributor.

This isn't over for Sarah Palin - not by a long shot. The lies keep being outed and Obama's money keeps a-rollin' in! As I've been saying for 7 days, Sarah Palin will be the best Democratic recruiter in the country before all is said and done.

We're all prisoners of W.

What are you going to do if a Dem administration sucks?

Walk away from it?

What?

Oh reaaallly now Kelly... Do tellll... You'll have to forgive my skepticism my dear... I've actually been paying attention the last eight years.. JD

the librul biased media is planting stuff in our heads.

fact is, Guilliani has never said "9-11" until this wek at the RNC.

you can look it up.

Maybe the Republicans should run Jane Fonda for President, since they have so much respect for people who make propaganda films for the Viet Cong. America first? Speaking of America first, maybe the reason Sarah Palin thinks Alaska should leave the union, is so she can run for President instead of VP. Hell, she could even run for life-long dictator of Alaska for all I care.

I was in the room as he gave the last third (the POW story) nearly verbatim to a US Olympic Team at their training camp in 2006. I'm sure he's used it at many a speaking engagement.

NO, when Obama wins and control of both Houses is accomplished in Nov., "We The
People" will, at last, be heard. And IF the Dems "suck"(as they have done in recent
past), they will feel the heat as they should. I don't have any recent fond memories
of the House nor Senate doing a good job when representing us(being somewhat constricted by the threat of or use of the Veto by bush), but hopefully that hurdle
can be removed within next couple of months.

I want the drugs she's taking. Especially if they help me forget the last eight years.

VietVet8666 @ 8:

Ok fine. How about this, you can vote for Charles Jay, Boston Tea Party/Personal Choice Party; Charles Baldwin, Constitution Party; Cynthia McKinney, Green Party; Alan L Keyes, Independent/America's Party/ American Independent Part;, Ralph Nader Independent/Independent-Ecology Party/ Peace and Freedom Party/ Natural Law Party; Robert L Barr Libertarian Party; Gloria LaRiva, Party of Socialism and Liberation; Gene Amondson, Prohibition Party; Ted Weill, Reform Party; Brian P Moore, Socialist Party USA; or Roger Calero, Socialist Workers Party!

OR, take a deep breath, you can vote for one of the five independent canidates with a ballot in at least one state, check your state election office to see who is on your ballet. OR you can write in the candidate of your choice. OR you can do what a majority of Americans are going to do and sit on their hands and do not vote at all. See you have lots of choices. No sweat, it's just your future on the line. So have a cookie and stop whining.

Even though I support Hillary Clinton, after hearing Palin's speech at the convention, I did something I have NEVER done before - I contributed to a presidential campaign. No, not McCain....but Obama. I am fully 100% behind Obama and know that all of those Hillary supporters that I know (and I know many) are behind him now as well.

I had an interesting discussion with a friend from Alaska a couple of days ago....she emphasized that Palin is almost as unethical as their former governor. Most Alaskans know this and it is only a matter of time before the rest of the country knows the full extent of her actions. Someone please pass me the popcorn....

John McCain was a POW? I had no idea. He never mentions it every five fucking minutes.

Actually it was hillarious, at the RNC one of the reporters said....without missing a beat or questioning it...that the polls were so close with Obama at 59% and McCain at 56%.....REALLY?? Wouldn't that be 115%?? Who's voting twice??

honestly it is a noble story worth listening to. i don't see how it equates to all elements/attributes if many at all to being the president in 2009.
i appreciae the bravery and serving but can we get to the issues and needs of the country. we've got the mccaincaricature down. it can be part of the story but not 50%. it doesn't equate to me about taxation, healthcare, economy, more efficient government. i just think you have to experience what mccain experience to know it's bad
and you don't want it to happen to anyone.
personally i believe he is being told he needs to keep talking his bio.....and it partially relates to the fear factor what about iran what about russia.
i'm going with obama who i believe has the ability to communicate and listen to his cabinet and legislative branch.........i don't believe mccain has those qualities
and if he doesw i don't believe he'll be alowed to use them.

Imagine if Obama's wife belonged to a seperatist party whose founder cursed the United States? ha, fox news would implode. But Sarah Palin and hub are hailed.

You're right. If half of what that article says is true, it's time to make sure that beast with lipstick never gets into office. Her being there will not only damage the state of the Union, but will actively set in motion a hatred for Americans who "don't look like her".

Especially if she has no self-control over using language like that in public.

Kinda reminds you of what Cheney said in Congress one fateful day to Sen. Leahy.

I hate to say it again, but this election is one of conscience. People have to vote with one if they want to get their country back.

Are the McCains invited to Levi and Bristol's Wedding?

kelly odonnell is one of the stupidest fucking bints on teevee. she is thoroughly out of her depth and so easily manipulated, it's embarrassing. but, then, she is working for the media outlet that knowingly provides republican performers mike murphy and peggy loonie airtime to lie to the american public. oh, and i must also include the cheney hagiographer and propagandist who continues to pimp the saddam-9/11 connection -- stephen hayes.

Indeed.

I understand that reporters are supposed to be unbiased and impartial. To not let their own bias get in the way of doing their job, kind of like a judge. But I didn't know they were suppose to stay in a "Isolation Booth" between interviews. I have heard so many reporters ask questions and accept answers that have been proven false or erronious many times over that I now decided that the reporters must be either really, really, dumb or they don't ever listen to any other news reports. If reporters don't believe in listening to the news, why would they believe we should.

I'm trying for the life of me, to really appreciate the John McCain hero thing because of the 5 years in a POW camp, I really am but each time I do, I think of Kerry and he being in the actual trenches where the bullets were flying versus McCain being kept alive because of his daddy's position.
I also think, if he's a hero for time spent, then hasn't the USA mistakenly created about 500 "HEROES" who have been lodged and tortured at Gitmo?
What will that do for the USA in the future?

obama is annointed or thinks he has been according to the red team......greater than thou strategy....

This is the "antichrist" code words strategy. Stalin used it as well. Something like this: Sure, he has throngs of devoted followers. Yes, he is very charismatic...

POW! Right in the kissa!

Who cares if she knows how to dress a moose? Mooses look kinda stupid in clothes anyway, and they're kinda hard to get a proper fit.

Not only can she dress them, she can introduce them as her running mate:

Rocky: And here he is, that master of misinformation, Mr. Know-It-All.

Hey Mr. Know-it-all, can you name the only Navy pilot who bombed his own ship during the Vietnam undeclared war?

lmab @ 86:

I think it's taken McCain this long to get the story straight.

Question: Was McLamebrain a POW for 5 years or has it been 40 years? I sure wish
he would be more specific and not keep us in the dark by avoiding any conversations
as to his time as a POW.

McCain will be riding that POW horse till it drops dead before the election....

Flags waving, fireworks the whole shebang....

Just to get by the fact that he voted with bush something like 95% of the time...

More of the same and most people just won't get it....

Except when he implements the draft...

I'm sick of this 'hands-off' McCain because he was a POW and a hero.

Let's compare him to prisoners who took a bullet in the back of the head instead signing statements or doing radio broadcasts denouncing their country's actions in wartime.

"I regret that I have but one life to give for my country." - Nathan Hale

C'mon now, I feel for the guy but let's be more definitive about his actions in a Viet Nam POW camp.

He's a SURVIVOR, not a war hero.

Kelly O' Donnel, She would make one ashamed to be Irish! I think she is just an out of the loop idiot.

If she had to go through any confirmation hearing in Congress she would not stand a chance of being confirmed.

I can't wait to hear what Bill Maher and his guests have to say tonight on Real Time (11pm EST). Jeffrey Toobin is one of his guests and I believe he seriously thought her speech sucked. Scott McClellan will also be on the show.

I am so glad Maher is back, I will be tuning in too----

Till next time----

Peace----

well the 'imperfect servant' has a bad voting record
regarding the veteran's needs. seems to me that would be a better way of telling his story. properly support the
troops/veterans. that's why i appreciate his POW story
but a poor senate voting record for veterans....no excuse.
i don't give a fxxk about the awards they gave you. talk about voting record....you understand their pain so NO excuses.

Bob Dole kind of ran on a war hero platform, but Dole had real leadership experience in the Senate, unlike McCain who never has been considered for a leadership position amongst the Good Old White Guy Club.

I hope for America's sake that McCain wins and drops dead.

America needs to be put in Palin's hands.

Maybe then they'll start acting like adults.

Poor Kelly, I almost fell off the chair at that lie!! How stupid does she think we are? Well we are not that stupid so Kelly, find a new job, you won't be press secretary after all.

This republic convention has reminded me of a retirement party rather than a convention to elect the POTUS and veep. We should hand him a gold watch and tell him, farewell my good and faithful public servant.

Walk out into the Alaskan woods this winter. You, Sarah and an axe. It's pathetic if they weren't so scary.

BTW, did you know that John McCain was a POW?

BTW...perhaps I'm typing too fast for you to read & comprehend......

Just listened to Larry King ask Michael Moore if colour will be a factor on voting night.

I wrote back in November. the USA cannot hide behind 240 years of history with regards to segregation etc. When push comes to shove, unfortunately, there will indeed be people who will not vote for the DEms for that reason. They should go to hell.

The irony behind the Republican Right is, here's there hero who stood up to 5 years of torture because his country was everything to him. It's values, it's patriotism, etc.
Part of that whole era of the late 60's & 70's was the civil rights movement, which I'm sure was one of the things McCain was taking all this torure for.
So now, are these Republicans going to vote against something he stood up for so viligantly and bravely for? Is this not the epitome of hypocracy and racisim?

I think Kelly O'Donnell enjoys the same up close hotel attention and visits that John McCain gave to Vicki Iseman, the telecom lobbyist.

hahahaha...........

The O’Donnell sisters Kelly and Nora are both GOP whores. Always have been.

Don't know if anyone from DNC of Obama camps monitors this site, but if so I hope they'll seriously consider the two following types of Ads (and the pros will do a better on it than me, I'm sure):
1. LOTS OF TALK. Voice: At the Republican Convention we hard lots of talk. Lots of talk (as a collage of spreakers, Romney, Rudy, Palin, slightly longer on Bush, McCain.) Narrator: But with all that talk, we didn't have we hear anything about: the economy (stats, images), our veterans (New GI BIll "opposed by SEn. McCain") and maybe one other big time issue "our planet"???....Voice: Do the Republicans believe you're not interst in these? Or do they just have nothing to say?:

2. NO title I can think of. Brief clips of Rudy, Palin at convention, Palin on stump with the mocking of "
community organizer". Two or three real communit organizers (I'd like a White, a Latino, a Black)...and alternating narration over real images of them at work..."My name is ..... and I'm a communit organizer...(for all) - at least one: "I work for a faith based organization, as did Barack Obama"...alternating voices: we work with the homeless, including veterans, those who have lost their jobs, even their homes. But they're good people. We help retrain them, find employment. To get them back on their feet. They're good people....ending: Senator Palin, we invite you to come and spend a week with us. Hopefully you'll appreciate us more. And yes, we'll gladly spend a week with you."

Average male lifespan: 72
John McCain’s age: 72
President Palin: Nightmare

My browser has just shut down twice in trying to respond to this story. Liars seems to be too strong. That's all I have to say.

i honestly think mccain actually *is* a pow again. he's been captured by the evangelical far right bible-thumping nutbars. he's no longer *master of his domain*.
he's been forced to accept "crazy base world", sarah palin, insane positions, rove and others he loathes...he's *the prisoner*

I, too, hope that Obama's campaign sees your ideas. They are very effective and moving. Why not send your idea to the Obama campaign as well?

Kelly has had her head to far up McSame's ass to realize that he has worn out that card he dealt from the bottom of the forty year old deck. As a Vietnam Veteran I am sickened that he stoops so low. Being a former POW will not get him a free cup of coffee and he is trying to pimp his way into the highest position in the land to continue the failed policies of Bush he voted for over 90% of the time. McSame is shameful and a disgrace to the uniform when he plays this cheap game.

i agree with "Widespread @ 12".

i haven't seen McCain mention it in detail much. most mentions come from campaign employees or surrogates, and they're brief (e.g. "John McCain was a POW!", "he didn't have a kitchen table during his time in Hell!"). different voices pushing the theme means the campaign can get more mileage out of it, without McCain being personally accused of mentioning it too much.

there may be voters out there too dumb to realize that the campaign staff works for him, so any POW praise they issue is hardly spontaneous or accidental.

First time I have even heard of Kelly O'Donnell on C&L. Still remember Nora O'Donnell's nick name christened at C&L which is Noron (from Nora And Moron = Noron). Both are by no measure of the imagination Rachel Maddow or that other low standard of news reporting Kathy Couric.

I think of Steve Doocy at Fox News as Steve "Douchebag".

Because most of them are ignorant and unable to think outside the box. The people on the right need rules sothey can judge other people when they break the rules. They must have leaders to tell them they are protected from the boogey man. They are intimidated by intelligence for obvious reasons I should not have to explain.

I'm absolutely convinced the RNC puts something in the water on the press planes every Presidential campaign. Reporters that have been reasonably impartial for decades suddenly come down with a severe case of Stockholm Syndrome when they spend too much time covering Republican campaigns.

McCain was a collaborator with the N. Vietnamese, and he's the one who started that conflagration on the Forrestal.

I could tell McCain has been reluctant to raise the subject. It always seemed that getting him to speak about it was very painful for him, as if each word had to be ripped out of his soul by it's roots. Humble, self-effacing and saintly man that he is, he didn't want anybody thinking he was George Washington or anything....

O'Donnell was so busy swooning each time she saw the grumpy warrior that she didn't hear him tell the story of the guard and the cross (soon to be a movie starring Tom Cruise) for 7348th time.

he only thing about McCain's POW status that he hasn"t used is that he made tapes confessing that he was a war criminal and violated the "Code of Conduct" by giving the NVA the name of his ship, name of his squadron and targets of attack. Why hasn't the Mendacious Sounds of Misinformation (MSM) reported that?

just questions
