The reslugs truly have no shame. They are so desperate and pathetic. They need people to be afraid. They NEED them to get back to the level of fear and anger that occurred after the attacks on the towers. Because they've always been the "We've got nothing" party. They have no ideas, no direction, no plans and no clue. All they want is an electorate too afraid to think or ask questions. One that will keep them in power forever.

Thankfully all they are doing is pissing everyone off.
Here's hoping the backlash hits them like a tidal wave in November.

Disgusting hate/fear/war mongers.

McCain promised yesterday to put country first. He stopped doing that the day he started running for the GOP nomination in 2007. Since that time he has been debating himself on environmental issues. Old McCain's moderate positions versus New McCain's conservative positions.

Awesome! ...

The Phonetic Sarah Palin

An oddity from the prepared text of Palin's speech:

Terrorist states are seeking new-clear weapons without delay

I didn't look in time to see if it was rendered this way on the teleprompter but I assume this spelling was designed to prevent her from a mockery-inducing Bush-like pronunciation of "newkyuler."

The truth is McCain wishes he's Obama. He's a copycat at this point. He can't even think of an original theme for his convention. WTF? He should have used something like BUSH BE GONE!!! Then maybe I would have watched his pathetic circus of clowns. He couldn't even mention Bush by his name in his acceptance speech. How sad is that? Pathetic.

Good question.

I think they're trying to say "Change you shold be afraid of."
The 'pre-dementia angry old man' and the 'air head theocrat' ticket.
Their slogan should be "Run for your life!"

My initial impression was that it was horribly biased against Muslims not terrorists. It was disgusting by anyone's standards.
If we had gone after the bastards responsible, well, we didn't. We started to but W went to Iraq using lies, innuendo and fear.
More of the same with McCain.

Things could quickly get so bad, shaky, and scary approaching Nov that voters might actually start noticing Mac and Moose are inadequate for the job.

Unless this nation is so far gone that it actually decides to commit Patriotic Suicide .

I'm betting the republicans and the McCain campaign in particular are feeling a bit of buyer's remorse regarding Palin. She has too many strings attached to her and every time they pull one, they pull up something ugly.

Verification of Todd Palin's membership in AIP (Alaska Independence Party) AKA: The Alaska Secession Movement. He was a listed member until 2002 when he knew people might not appreciate it in his wife's campign. This we now know from the NYT: Sarah Palin attended the annual AIP meeting in 2004; Sarah Palin, as Governor, sent a video-tapped congratulatory message to this anti-US group full of kudos for "the great job they are doing". Does this smack of treason here?

For a party running on "country first", this feels like a total contradiction. Here you have the husband of a Mayor officially tied to this anti-US activist group between 1995and 2002 (which is a hellova a long time to me) and a wife who, as Governor of the State, attends their conventions as a sign of support and then even sends in a video supporting their cause. Is something smelling rotten here?

In my humble estimation, an investigation needs to quickly be made regarding the Palin's patriotism to this union. Clearly, her video support of their activities to seceed from the union and run "their own form of government" smacks of anti-patriotic fervor.

Let's dig up a copy of Sarah Palin's video congratulating the AIP so it can be circulated around the internet - This borders on treason and sounds like a terrorist mentality...combine that with her belief about gun control and it's a prescription for a national disaster.

That's how easily these people are influenced and seduced by symbolism.

The Republicans will find themselves hoist on their own pitard and forced into a corner from which there is no excape very soon. First of all, McSame is attempting to keep the people from conducting an "employment interview" of Palin. If he succeeds, there will be no way any reasonable, logical human being can hire her for the job. This will make Palin "unelectable".

Secondly, there's a video circulating of Palin's message in 2006 to the AIP (Alaska Independence (not to be confused with our Independent Affiliation) Party. This party's platform is strictly "anti american". They want their own form of government and hope to secede from the union. Todd Palin was a card-carrying member until 2002 accoding to AIP's own records. Although Sarah Palin's membership is not verified, eyewitnesses and members have told us the following: 1) Palin attended the meetings of the AIP and every member had every belief that she was fully supporting their platform(s)...2) Sarah Palin, the Mayor, attended (in the flesh) the annual meeting of the AIP in 2004. This we know (NYT story).

Then to further solidify her connection to this treasonous group, she sent a video message which is circulating today in which Sarah Palin, as Governor, commended this group for the "great job they are doing". How does this compute with her "new platform" of 'COUNTRY FIRST"?? McCain shot himself in the foot once again in the selection of the GOP motto of Country First because Sarah Palin's own affiliation and support of "Alaska first" totally contradicts the mantra of the GOP. Clearly, she supported their pro-secession activities and even went so far as to tell them so in a video interview that the Governor of Alaska was "on their side".

Hideously, she expects us to believe her now - merely two years later - that she is a true "Patriot". I don't think so.

Sarah Palin will go down in history now as the "pro-secessionist Vice Presidential candidate". They GOP has tried, albeit unsuccessfully, to spin the fact that since Obama knew a known terrorist back in the 70's, somehow this connects him to this guy's activities? Well, here ya' have it - on a silver platter, folks.....Sarah Palin, Chief Support of Anti-US Secessionist activities.

This is only a mistake if the Dems take action and call out the fear-mongering Reps. If they do nothing, it will slide down the memory hole until the Reps shamelessly use it again.

So according to the video, the Iranian hostage crisis was an act of terrorism and is an event in direct line to 9/11? It had nothing to do with our supporting the Shah to his bitter end. All Muslims are interchangeable regardless of where they live, what they believe or what motivates them. I suppose it's another reason it's OK to kill all ragheads and let Allah sort them out. I'm only surprised they didn't put Putin's image up there too. After all, he probably has some connection to Osama during his KGB days and that explains why he wants to take over Georgia - or something.

While we focus on the mis-use of images, they frame the War on Tactics as a war against Islam. Check out Chris Floyd to see how well this is panning out in Somalia.

Continuing a thought I had on a prior thread, on "the surge":
___________

"The law of the jungle is 'eat or be eaten.' The law of civilization is 'define or be defined.' "
- Dr. Thomas Szasz

"Obama refuses to admit that The Surge has worked."

A core John McCain (and campaign surrogates) talking point, one that Bill O'Reilly has now fairly successfully hammered Barack Obama with during their "O'Reilly Factor" interview (first aired Sept 4th, 2008 on Fox)

______

From a C&L commenter:

Of course, I watched the interview. And CNN just played a snippet. So? I still think it was a mistake and can guarentee you that the Right will be doing some careful, selective, manipulative editing on it. Expect to see a Republican ad with Obama saying ..”Yes, the surge worked…beyond our wildest dreams…”
How can that be helpful?

It is not. You never let an adversary frame the debate.

My response would have been:

“Bill, let me stop you right there. Arguing about the relative merits of this surge is irrelevant to the fundamental issue, i.e., had we not invaded Iraq, had we kept our eyes on the prize in Afghanistan, we might well have largely wrapped things up by now, many thousand of deaths and billions of dollars fewer. We’d not have had the morally eviscerating infamy of Abu Ghraib, and bin Laden might well now be dead or in custody.

We might now be focused on electing a President, rather than simply a “Commander-in-Chief” — a focus that assumes that our all-consuming national priority is and will indefinitely be inevitably nothing more than managing wars at every turn.

So, I stand by the correctness of my original Iraq judgment. The current ostensible necessity and short-term efficacy of the surge does nothing whatsoever to refute the soundness of my judgment.”
________

The "surge" is but one more band-aid applied to a wound that should never have been inflicted.

Obama, you're gonna have to do better on this.

But Republicans, being Cree yist yins, aren't perfect - they're forgiven ; they don't need no steenkin personal responsibility!

McFool chose, with Sarah Palin's cooperation and blessings I might add, to introduce the Palin family to the country last Friday and thought that parading around her 5 kids (including a pregnant daughter who was mortified and trying to hide it) and her special needs infant. They are the ones who chose to expose these children - not the media - not the people.

Then, having done something this reckless and irresponsible, they tried to DARVO the blame back on the people for their choice to expose these kids. THEIR CHOICE!

I still haven't seen on stage the children of Angelina Joli and that's because she cares about "protecting her children". Obviously, this public relations "stunt" (as Noonan was caught saying "Political bull$hit") backfired in their faces.

Then they turn around and point fingers at the boogeyman known as the 'librul media' - hah! Was Katie Couric part of the "liberal media" (we know she's a Republican) when she andABC news scrubbed out of the interview all of the gaffes made by McCain before they were aired? Guess again, folks! The fact is that the media has been far rougher on Obama than they have ever been on McCain; that is, until now. Until the moment when McCain pointed the finger and blamed the media....until the point when McCain's temper and new pissing partner became the precise newscasters who can make or break him.

You have to love the hypocrisy of McCain putting the blame on the media and on americans when they made the conscious decision to offer up her children as "political tools" in the first place.

You have to love the irony of the self-sabateur now self-destructing because he's not permitting the people to conduct an employment interview with Palin so there's absolutely NO WAY she "can" be elected.

This is a case where reality is stranger than fiction. So now, instead of controlling the leak, leak, leaking of blood from Palin's pale-thin resume and/or presenting her best foot forward, McCain chooses to isolate her in an attempt to insulate her. Is this what a woman of character does? Goes and runs into the nearest corner to whine and bawl? I don't think so. So this shows us even more about these two characters than ever before - McCain believes that by abusing his power as a candidate that he will stop the country from getting to know Palin and conducting our employment interview AS WELL AS trying, once again, to stop the obvious questions about Vicky Iseman, his mistress.

Well, guess again Johnny McCountryFirst Gambler - the people have to take the responsibility for digging to find out the worst about the woman you are fraudulently portraying as strong and qualified. Yes, we can and yes, we will!

So we female americans have a big "news flash" for Sarah Palin: We are not deceived that easily because you are part of our tribe and having a vagina is perhaps the ONLY thing we have in common. Play dirty and you'll get double the dirt thrown right back in your face. We've outed her and she knows it's "game over". A "pro secessionist vice president" - the founding fathers are rolling over in their graves right now.

And, according to Palin's total lack of US history knowledge, she erroneously believes that these same founding fathers put the "under God" in the pledge. That's how much she knows about the pledge of allegiance - she's more interested in seceeding from that pledge than anything else. (For her info, it was inserted in 1954).

Well, we can see how this is going. All three cable channels are carrying Palin on the campaign trail. CNN was actually showing an Obama speech and immediately switched to her when she started speaking.

I love it - POW (Prisoner of W) so that's what it really means?? Thanks for the enlightenment. Prisoner of W.....gotta love it and 'splains it all.

I saw on another thread where swiftboating is alive and well on the floor of the RNC - makes perfect sense since Palin was the Head of Indicted Ted Stevens' 527. She's got plenty of nasty experience. Sadly, this didn't resonate well for her at all. Maybe in November she can audition to be a character on SNL? At least she smugly believes she has what it takes to be a stand up comic.

Is this a sweeps week?

Besides, one can hardly blame them. This is a human train wreck just like Britney Spears and all media loves to watch it.

By next week, the media will be disgraced to be showing her clips. By next week, with their viewership falling off on both sides of the aisle (the locksteppers believing they're being persecuted) and the intelligencia knowing the truth about the media and the boycott of their sponsors, they'll quickly realize that the american people would rather watch the history channel.

It would appear that the television stations are following in the footsteps of Fox News who would put up a britney spears video of her having her shaved off under the influence than things that matter most to americans. This degrades them totally.

Ciao ognuno,

I'm still laughing over the comparison made by John Stewart the other night of Fred Thompson and Joe Lieberman as Foghorn-Leghorn and Droopy-Dog.

That one is a keeper.

I am now officially disgusted with McCain. He trotted out his POW mantra again last night. AGAIN! Look John, I know it was an unpleasant experience, and I admire your stoicism. But there are many, many Americans who were POWs. Many in conditions worse than yours (i.e., the Japanese). They don't trot it out left, right, and centre. They don't use it as an excuse or as an opportunity to win accolades or to proved their patriotism 'bona fides'. It's an unfortunate part of their lives that they deal with as best they can. By turning it into a shameless election ploy, you dishonor all those who suffered as much and often more. It's a disgrace and anyone with integrity would reject that approach outright.

Oh, and, by the way, did you know that McCain was a POW?

And he didn't wear a flag pin.

When you look at These Poll Results it's like looking at the IQ results of the different States in the USA.

I have two friends, actually they are brothers, who were held in Box's in Vietnam. Neither of them will ever speak of it, I have been drunk with them and asked them of it and never got ANY answer, just silence.
But then, to be honest, they are not slimy politicians running for office who will do and say ANYTHING to garner votes, which is exactly what mcbush has done. Sold out to the Religious right, sold out on his real values, sold out to Big Oil .... you get the picture.

Just got off of another site and someone wrote "I'm going to vote for McCain because "he has promised to exercise the power to stop the insanity of pork barrel spending". In the Huffington Post August 18-------------"McCain never specifically went after "the Bridge to Nowhere" and he was absent for key votes on funding. He never opposed cutting the DNA bear study and voted for the final bill containing it. He wasn't present for the most impt votes on the Woodstock Museum, including the one on an amendment he co-sponsored to kill the earmarks and divert some of the funds". Doesn't he have to be present "to exercise the power? Duh!

Crooks and liars folks

I am trying to get the Diane Rehm show to bring Amy goodman of Democracy Now to discuss her and her producers unnecessary and violent arrest at the RNC. To discuss how peoples rights to protest were pre-empted and abused.

I have been able to get many friends to write the Rehm show about particular programs and have been successful numerous times. Is anyone here willing to join on and write the show about this topic?

Also trying to get her producers to bring on Flynt Leverett, Scott Ritter (she has had him on numerous times, it’s time to do it again), and Juan Cole to discuss the situation with Iran . We know if Cheney, Feith, Wolfowitz, Bolton and Israel have their ways. We will be witnessing a September or October attack on Iran.

Please write or call the Diane Rehm show and back up these request if you have the time or interest.

The link
http://wamu.org/programs/dr/contact_us.ph

Sending that clip you have to the Diane Rehm show may push it the request up a notch. Would you be willing to write the Diane Rehm show and make that request.

Also the Governor of Minnesota was on C-Span’s Washington Journal this past week making claims that all of the rest were necessary and done properly.

What a way to create chaos before a more sizable march can take place

Um, guys...."Ixion", the who wants you to pray for McCain to be "smitten" by God...appears to Republican Senator Bob Corker.

Not deeply checked yet, I could be mistaken, but anyone care to confirm or debunk?
