Our condolences to Jack Cafferty

Sad news to report, as Jack Cafferty's wife of 35 years, Carol, passed away unexpectedly. CNN has a touching tribute to Carol, but the team here at Crooks and Liars just want Jack to know that our thoughts and prayers are with him. We wish him the very best.

Damn Shame.

*pours some out for Carol*

My sincere and heartfelt condolences to you and your family, Mr Cafferty.

I like Jack Cafferty a lot...this is really sad news to hear. My sincerest condolences go out to him and his family.

The link doesn't work.

Oh that's so sad to hear. My sincere condolences to both Mr. Cafferty and his family.

Yeah.. my Grandmother just passed tonight too. Must be something in the air.
Sleep well Jack from another Jack. Best of luck.

Jack is one of the really decent guys in the news business. He wrote about what a wonderful wife he had in his recent book. I am sure that he and his girls will be a big comfort to one another.

That's sad... i'm very sorry to hear that.

My condolences to Jack & family.

My dads 102 year old sister passed away today while her grandson was playing "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes. R.I.P. aunt Arla.

Condolences, Jack.

Puts everything in perspective.... My condolences.

This is the correct link to the obituary by CNN.

Jack is one of my favorite grumpy old men. I may not have always agreed with what he said. But I always respected his independence, much more so than Wolf Blitzer, who is just another shill in a $2,000 suit.

Sincerest sympathies to Jack and his family.

I agree with all the previous comments. Jack always makes me smile. Wolf makes me leave the room a lot.

Jack, I am very sorry to hear this. I hope the day soon comes that you will smile whenever you think of her. My thoughts are with you.

Here's Wolf on the death of Carol.

Jack is a really decent person. Our thoughts and prayers are with him. He is the only reason I watch Wolf's show. I usually turn it on and pay no attention until it is time for Jack. I watched him when he was on in the mornings with that idiot that went to FOX. His name escapes me (Bill something I think).

Jack is one of the very few who is consistent in the MSM business. He takes no bullshit, and points it out when he sees it in our sorry excuse for a government.

Wishing him and his family comfort and peace at this difficult time.

This is indeed quite sad. I am a big fan of Jack Cafferty. I amazed that CNN allows such a brutally honest person on the air. I love how much Jack's curmudgeonly-yet-eloquent assaults on the Bush administration and Republican absurdity in general ruffle the feathers of Wolf "The Beard" Blitzer.

He's my favorite grumpy voice and I agree with him for every reason he's been grumpy. He's one of the last truthtellers of his generation. I truly respect and admire him

I am truly siorry for his loss. I am sad and offer my condolences to Mr. Cafferty. After 35 years, you share a soul with someone.

So sorry Jack. I know the feeling on april the 9th I got a phone call that my wife had been in an auto accident. I went to the hospital where they told me she had a torn aorta. They ask me if I would like to see her before they shipped her to the heart care center at Saint mary's hospital. We had been together for thirty years I thought I was saying goodby. But after 12 hours in surgery and five weeks on the ventilator. Two weeks in a rehab hospital and now almost three months of care at home she is finally getting better.
We will be broke the rest of our lives from the hospital bills but she is alive.
If I can keep a place for us to live now it will be great.
I want to thank all the lowlife republicans that help make our health care system the worst in the world. Go fuck yourself you greedy republican bastards! I hope you get to use our health care system yourselves.

Sorry to hear this Jack Cafferty, anyone know of a tribute page at CNN we all could sign?

My deepest sympathies to Mr.Cafferty and his family. Mr. Cafferty is one of the few voices of reason on the news anymore.

It's truly sad when one of the good ones suffers such a loss. Best wishes to the Cafferty family.

Major condolences to Mr. Cafferty. My whole heart goes out to him.

So sorry Jack. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Be strong.

Best healing wishes to you, Jack Cafferty. I've had the great fortune to be married to a wonderful woman for more than 35 years... "You never know when the Asteroid's going to hit," so carpe diem. May time help you and your family. Your good work is appreciated.

My condolences Jack, after reading your book I know that your wife has been your rock, your steadying on your life. Don't loose hope and come back soon to all of us that watch cnn.

P.S. the big reason I watch the situation room is to hear your slant on things

Jack is one of my favorites, and any loss for him is a loss for all of us. We love you Jack and keep you in our hearts and prayers.

Jack Cafferty, ornery but sincere...and one of the true broadcast journalists still left standing.

My condolences to Mr. Cafferty and his family on their loss.

Sad news indeed. Jack is the best MSM news guy I think.
My sincere condolences. I hope he won't be off the air for
too long. We need his input more than ever.

Sorry to hear about Jack's loss. I, too, have really enjoyed his commentaries on The Situation Room. Easily the best part of the show.

Jack Cafferty's commentaries give me hope. I'm so sorry for his loss. I know he loved his wife very much. I pray his soul and those of his family will find comfort.

Jack is one of the few MSM guys that gets it.

Travel Well Carol.

I will always think of Jack Cafferty as the guy who went on national tv and said he had been fooled by Bush into suporting the invation of Iraq.

And that he would regret it for the rest of his life.

Carol must have been a wonderful person to get a husband like Jack.

May she Rest in peace.

Behind every great man is an even greater woman. Our thoughts are with you Jack.

RIP Mrs. Cafferty.
Warmest Condolences to Jack.

One of the few real newsmen left in the business, and an honest one at that. His loss will be our loss too.

Condolences to Mr. Cafferty and his family.

Jack Cafferty has always been a curmudgeonly type, but those are usually the ones that have the biggest hearts. And right now, I know his heart is breaking because even the cantankerous cry when no one watches.

*adds my name to the list of condolences*

Jack is strong and a clear thinker, it shows in his daily ability to work with a bush sycophant like wolfe and not strangle him for bald face lying and misrepresenting the facts. It's got to be tough right now, but in a few days they'll have a wake for her, and like we Irish tend to do, there'll be more laughing than crying, enjoying the great memories of Carol.
Enjoy and be happy Jack for all the times you had.

Wow, I make a point about not giving a damn about TV talking heads, but this news teared me up. Jack is one of the few real humans on the tube, and I feel like a friend just suffered a tragic loss.

CNN could instantly become 1000% better if they would just switch the amounts of airtime allotted to Jack and Wolf Blitzer. Jack cares about the truth, an essential in a journalist. Blitzer OTOH is a hack, concerned only with his career and happy to take the low road of sucking up to his corporate masters.

Cafferty's got class. I feel for him.

Aw!! That's terrible! Condolences to Jack...

Our sincere condolences. Losing the one you love is ... words fail.

Sorry to hear that, my thoughts are with you Jack.

A true hero in the midst of the muck called main stream media! Mr. Cafferty, I am very sorry for you and your childrens' loss. I look forward to your renewed and sane comments. You are one of the rare ones in the news media business.

Such sad news. I remember listening to the Rachel Miller radio show and Jack Cafferty could not stop talking about his wife. His devotion and love was unmistakable.

I extend my most sincere to Jack Cafferty and the entire Cafferty family at the time of this tragic and unexpected loss.

Condolensences Jack

I love you Jack; you tell it like it is. No one does it better. How sad to lose the one who has shared your road with you for 35 years. I know I would be devastated if I lost my life partner of 25 years. Blessings on you as you say goodbye.

Condolences to you Mr. Cafferty, and to your family and the family of your wife. Come back to work soon.

I am sorry about your loss, Jack. Man I love you to death when I watch the Situation Room and you make your GOP colleagues look foolish in panel discussions and appears calm in such discussions. I watch YouTube reruns of you all the time.

We hope you have the strength to come back from this horrible setback and keep us informed.

So much respect for Jack and his work. He's so sharp and on-the-money on air. There's no good way to lose a spouse, especially someone who's been with you so long. Nonetheless, the unexpected must be the worst. It'll take strength and courage to get through the next few years. Best to you, Jack, at this suddenly upside down time.

condolences, strength, peace.

How can we be sure that the GOP isn't invovled?

Ask yourself ? After eight years , would you rather have a beer with George Bush or Jack Cafferty ? Whos the straighter talker ? Jack or MC Same ? Probably about the only reason i turn CNN on anymore.

Sorry about your loss Jack.

Your right about Wolfy though. He could do a lot better. Blitzer dont appear to be a stupid man . Is he a registered Repub ?

Jack, our heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and your family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We miss you Jack but take all the time you need. We'll be here waiting for you.

I'd like to add myself to the list of people offering their condolencies to Jack Cafferty and his family.

Hmm 35 years... must respect those "family values"

Condolences Jack, the hurt don't go, you just learn to live with it. Peace

Mr. McCafferty, I listen/ watch your commentary often. As a Corpsman in Vietnam, I know loss there and here. I am at peace with you and yours.

Sorry to hear the news. Carol's personality must have been one of a kind. A great loss. We'll miss her too.

My sincere condolences. She had to be quite a woman to put up with a (loveable) old coot like Jack.

I'm very sorry to hear of her passing. I send my condolences to the Cafferty family as well as those who knew and loved her.

It's really sad to here that Jack's wife has passed. He is about the only one I can half way stomach on CNN.

My prayers go out to him and his family.

I know this is a bit off topic. But I always got a kick out of the beer argument, because it illustrates the logical dissonance of the common American conservative.

On one hand people liked the fact that he was a regular guy (never mind he is a wealthy heir, raised in the upper crust of the New England society, attending boarding schools, and going as a legacy into his ivy league degree) because they (the common conservative) felt they could have "a beer" with the guy.

On the other hand, they also loved the fact that he was a man of god and that he had used his faith to overcome his alcoholism.

And yet... I always got blank stares by some of my conservative acquittances when I pointed out the fact that having a beer with a self professing recovering alcoholic is kind of an assholish thing to do.

In any case, my condolences to Mr. Cafferty. Even though sometimes I disagree with some of his opinions, I respect the guy a big deal. I am afraid that if we had more people of his caliber working for the M$M we would be in a much better shape as a society.

I will add my CONDOLENCE to Jack Cafferty and Family. Jack Cafferty is the only reason that I watch CNN or Wolf Blitzer. CNN same as FOX'S. Not Jack he was his own Man.

Very sorry to hear this. He's the only one who doesn't break my brain in the afternoon. My condolences, Mr. Cafferty. :(

Condolences to Mr. Cafferty and the family.

Truly a man who loves his country. Hope his wife is looking down on him now and smiling. Spend a few moments of time and look after yourself Jack,,,,, then come back and give them hell!

Jack has been one of the few voices of sanity in an increasingly insane world.
Stay strong, Jack.

God Bless Carol and Jack. My Condolences.

Jack Cafferty is a Hero. He seems like a GREAT human being. The world needs more people like him.

this actually saddens me, maybe because Jack is one of the Very, Very, Few, possibly Only person on the idiot Box MSM news that i actually genuinely like, or I feel is actually genuine. My condolences to him.. It will be a great loss if he were to leave or retire due to this during these times, but i'm sure he will at least still continue to be sane.

RIP

i guess i should post that on his blog

Much sympathies

Jack, you're a great and irreverent voice in a vanilla media. You have my most serious thoughts and condolences on the loss of your beloved wife. God bless.

My deepest condolences.

While it's unlikely you will read this, Jack, please know that we are with you in spirit and are deeply saddened for your loss.

God only takes the good too soon.

Are THEY killing family members now? Ernest Hollings' daughter, Kucinich's brother, et al. Can't panic the sheeple now.

My deepest condolences to Jack. You're one of the best and I'm sure your wife was too.

Jack. I am very sorry to hear off your loss of your beloved wife, Carol. My condolences to you. From everything I've heard, she was a fantastic woman and meant the world to you.

I hope Jack is next. His appearances on CNN are a disgrace!

It's a shame to love a loved one and I wish it on no one, no matter who that person is. I don't know that praising Jack's work is the thing to do...seems unrelated at best. My heartfelt sympathies to Jack and all of us who have lost someone along the way.

Oh, and "Jack shaw"...you're a miserable person and I really feel sorry for you if you really feel the need to wish someone dead over news commentary. But, I'm going with you being a troll only. Still, a miserable bastard.

Jack and the Cafferty Family,

My husband and want to offer our sympathies and prayers. We love watching you and so enjoy your "cut to the chase" on-camera style. Jack, please know that there are tremendous numbers of people in TVland who extend their thoughts, prayers and strong, positive mojo to you and your family.

I'm very sorry to hear this. My sincere condolences.

Jack-- I'm so very, very sorry for your loss.

So, Jack Shaw, #82, are you suggesting that Abbo, #80, may be correct? It must really irk you weenies-who-side-with-power to hear truthful and honorable journalists such as Jack Cafferty speak the truth about Bush and Cheney. Maybe your pictures of Eva Braun will calm you down.

(It is a pity that you have imposed your ugliness in this tribute to Carol Cafferty and Jack, but I felt a need to respond.)

Our sincere sympathy to you, Jack, in the loss of your wife. You are the highlight of CNN's Situation Room and I am sure she was and always will be very proud of you!

So sorry,Jack all the best to you and your family....and to the moron Jack Shaw who left the horrible comment that he hopes Jack is "next",I live in Corning,NY,and would love to meet you in a dark alley...hope you're in my neighborhood. To echo B's comment, you are a miserable bastard to make a comment like that to anyone in a time of mourning.

Deepest sympathy to you, Jack, on your great loss. My thoughts are with you and your daughters as you all grieve for your lovely wife. I am so
sorry for your loss.
Jane
