The only other thing I'd say is that I'm tired of Sarah Palin getting a pass in the MSM. Heck. I'm also tired of McCain getting a pass as well. These two have done things that boggle the imagination.

Together, they are a recipe for disaster with their scandalous pasts, connection to corruption, their racist behavior and their smugness when it comes to true national service.

They couldn't get their withered hands dirty if they tried.

It is even more disgusting that they proclaim to be "holier than thou" through their lies and deceptions.

I believe that it would be a national crime not to expose these people for what they are. This time (in the case of the AIP), American needs to know if people are so hellbent on patriotism.

This goes beyond an issue of party platform. This is about treasonous behavior that this woman and her husband committed.

I think the old man is confused because Palin probably showed up at some events with her husband. They have established that she was never a member in the voting rolls. Now, I do think they should answers some questions about the AIP, because they sound a little crazy. Did Palin's hub want to leave the country? Did he hate it like the founder did? Or is there another possibility? Did S. Palin ever support their goals?

I would just like an answer. I know, I know, its a lot to ask in this day and age.

Bill is right. There's some bullshit afoot here. Think of the political points you score by getting in front of the story and voluntarily getting the necessary tests performed to prove that the parents are who they're claimed to be. What politician passes up the opportunity to demonstrate their integrity in a way that makes their opponents look foolish for ever questioning it? The only reason you don't is if the tests would prove something else. If that was the child of Sarah and First Dude Palin, they'd have leapt at the opportunity to prove it because it would permanently discredit the people making the accusations, all in the name of defending their daughter's honor. That is NOT her kid. Or not her husband's. Or both.

I know it sounds weird but the AIP isn't really that out there. To be sure they still have their share of wack jobs but mainly it's just morphed into a liberatarian party. They actually won the governor's seat back in the 90's. It's true that it would be all over the news if Obama or Biden had been associated with a group like the AIP.

I doubt if anyone is still reading this thread, but this is important.

While Obama is right that family should be out of bounds from political attacks, it is absurd for them to be out of bounds from serious journalistic scrutiny.

If the media pursues a rumor that a candidate's child is having unprotected sex, it is frivolous.
If, however, the media pursues a rumor that a candidate has perpetrated a fraud against the press and the public by faking a pregnancy that is serious.

It goes beyond a private family matter when an elected official engages to defraud the public. It is indicative of poor judgement and may well be illegal. If Palin falsified state records to further the deception she may even be impeachable.

This is NOT a story that is out of bounds or personal. It demands investigation by reputable journalists.

Jeffrey Toobin's books are outstanding -- well written and well researched. And while I don't always agree with his analysis, I've always found it to be honest and realistic. I think he'd be a great choice to replace Tim Russert on Meet the Press, thougn that's impossible for media reasons, I'm sure.
