Another racist college Republican bites the dust

I guess they just can't help themselves. Kudos to the organization for doing the right thing and forcing this clown to resign.

Yahoo!:

The leader of a statewide group of college Republicans has been forced to resign after posting racially insensitive comments about Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama on the Internet.

Adam LaDuca, 21, the former executive director of the Pennsylvania Federation of College Republicans, wrote on his Facebook page in late July that Obama has "a pair of lips so large he could float half of Cuba to the shores of Miami (and probably would.)"

LaDuca, who previously had called Martin Luther King Jr. a "pariah" and a "fraud," also wrote: "And man, if sayin' someone has large lips is a racial slur, then we're ALL in trouble."

Uncle Joe, I disagree wholeheartedly with that comment. I have good friends who are Republican, but that doesn't make them inherently racist.

I think it's somewhat telling of our society though that John McCain and the Republicans are turning their campaign into a "culture" war, and a "who do you relate to more" platform. I think Barack Obama would be best served by going on television and saying, "A few years ago, Americans didn't vote on the issues. They voted on, 'who they could have a beer with'. Now, 8 years later and some 100,000 dead people later, here we are, doing the same thing all over again".

Every time I see something like this, it only serves to twist the knife a bit farther...

... to think that 30 YEARS AGO I was naive enough to believe that the civil rights battle and the fight against racism had been fought and won, and it was possible to be Republican and "fiscally conservative" while simultaneously holding "socially liberal" views of things like equality under the law.

I shudder at the notion that I could have been so thoroughly fooled that I would fight my way into my state Republican convention as a delegate at the ripe old age of eighteen, and be proud of the association.

Excuse me, I need to go vomit now.

Pericles's picture

The message is clear: If you're a college Republican you can pull any dirty trick you want, as long as you're not caught. The results justify the means. Rove and Atwater are the role models. If you get caught, and embarrass the party, you'll be thrown under the bus. Tought tooties.

However, if you can pull dirty tricks long enough without being too obvious about it, you'll eventually work your way to the top. Then you can do anything you want, up to and including treason and sedition, and you'll NEVER be fired. Again, Rove is the role model.

When people resort to saying that something blatantly racist isn't (as well as the other bizarro logic about "not seeing race"), it's just old "colorblind racism" at work.

The funny thing is that people actually believe and continue preaching that "it isn't really there" in a self-righteous tone. And they try to convince people of color like us to believe their lying.

I bet you this kid used that same kind of logic trying to explain away his racist comments and behavior. And I also raise you in that bet that he still feels he "didn't do anything wrong".

Dave @ 24:

Why are there such creatures as "College Republicans" during wartime?

Oughtn't they be "Battle Trench Republicans" until the war is over?

This particular College Republican should be an enlisted soldier fighting in the war he's probably agitated for since he was in high school.

Lyon @ 63:

I said it would get worse as the election approaches but even I wasn't clear on the "how". Now I am. What they're doing (and going to continue to do) is throw down these clearly racist epithets (uppity, big-lipped, whatever) and then cry "WHAT!? It's just an expression/statement of fact! I'm being persecuted for no reason!" victim defense bullshit. I'm now waiting for Obama to toss a football in a photo-op and someone on the right call him a "chucker"...

"Uppity", "Militant", "Elitist"....

Hell, they should just go ahead and call Obama the "N-Word" and get it over with already, so the official bigot campaign can fully begin.

Now, 8 years later and some 100,000 dead people later, here we are, doing the same thing all over again".

i have good friends who are republicans...and most (except for the gay republicans who just like low taxes) are fucking racists, and have no problems expressing the fact that they wont vote for obama cuz he is black

so there

now you may ask...why would i hang out with fucking racists? cuz im never gonna run for president, and outside of the fact that they are full retards, they are ok people

Plus, you get to call them retards and not get thrown in jail for doing so.

Just think. Adam is a mere 21 year old kid. In a couple of decades HE will be the minority. Wonder how he will feel then? Will he being overly racist then?

Somehow, I imagine his future involves meth, jail/prison time, and responding to the name "Honk*y B*tch" with his asscheeks open. Just guessing...

I like that image of him being a prison girlfriend to a brotha named LeRoy, Biscuit or Skillet, cause he'll probably be sent up for meth operations, or at best, white-collar Enron-type shyt.

A 21 year old racist arrogant priveleged white boy in college. Heh. This here white boy would smack him across the face if he spewed that shit around here!

Political Junkie, part of what Adam wrote was a rant on why he can't use the "N" word. He very much thinks its his right.

Damn. I wish I could get an email address on one of the 32 blacks at the Republican convention of last week. He was interviewed and said we blacks don't know what we are missing out on, by not being members of the Republican party...,
