Politics in the Zeros: Spread the meme. Republicans are the party that wrecked America. John McCain's long history with bank failures and financial scandals makes him uniquely 'qualified' to speak to the current crisis.

like nobody could EVER have predicted that...Fuukin DUH!
good news on the polls: real clear shows the mcpain convention/palin bounce is dwindling and obama is coming back. and this without much of an aggressive counterattack. this should bode well for the final push.
Sounds like the govt may prop AIG up. When even a hint of that rumor was announced the DOW began to climb.
The revolution will not be televised.

I sher as fuck hope so. AIG has about 60% of my private retirement account, not a single fucking penny of which is "insured."

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, Woody. I really will.
Politico
John McCain's chief economic adviser is giving him credit for the development of the Blackberry.
Dough Holtz-Eakin is saying: John McCain understands the financial markets because he has worked on telecommunications legislation.
Read that again: McCain's understanding of derivatives, security-backed mortgages, and leveraging comes from testimony offered by cable executives who didn't want to be forced into providing a la carte cable offerings or constrained by decency laws.
John McCain will, in other words, be ready on day one to crack down on obscenity and nudity on Wall Street.
Todays WTF???! moment courtesy of CNN.com:
"Some find 'Obama waffles' offensive"
Dow down 40 again. Didn't the Fed dump 70 billion in it?
earl@8, 'Some find 'Obama wallfles' offensive. Only CNN would say 'some', I like millions of Americans. not only find it offensive, but down right racist.
earl @ 8:
Ugh, I saw that. All I could say was SOME?!?!? WTF? Please, let the rapture come soon and sweep all of these people away and leave the rest of us alone.
P.D. @ 10:
Actually ALL news outlets use 'some' ... and its a journalistic weaseling at its worst.
The CBC uses it to mean "we", but in this case I'm sure CNN means "left wing thin skinned whiners" the same way Faux would.
Oh nattering nabobs of negativism, I knew ye well!
Is Sarah's fifteen minutes of fame up yet?
P.D. @ 9:
I think it was more like 60. They have to save some cash to pay for Cheney's 6 months of secret service protection he gets after he leaves office. They approved that yesterday.
This election is turning everyone down right crazy. The right is getting more and more bellicose. If Obama wins, they will be down right dispirited. That's just the way I want them. Even if McCain wins, the Democratic gains in the House and Senate will leave him pretty powerless.
earl @ 12:
Well.. All outlets in the US. My impression anyway, is that their weaseling is a bit worse than in most other places. Not just "some think" but also the classic "allegedly" and the one I hate the most - "controversial". Everything is 'controversial' if you want it to be. You just dig up some nut-case crazy enough to dispute that the world is round.
Alice X - (Chomsky Nader) - status quObama - change you can pretend in - @ 13:
We're not done yet! Joe's gotta chop her up into tiny pieces of cord wood. We need send her back to her meth-laden tundra via dog sled.
Alexdem @ 16:
I guess so. Up here in Canuckistan it's used in the 'some may say'
sense so the 'journalist' can disagree with a guest or position without actually having to take a stance. Down there ...I dunno I cancelled my cable so Faux would not spew its smelly waste into my living room, and now get my news only from the Daily Show and DemocracyNow.
You'll never hear Stewart weaselling like that.

"Mugsy’s Rap Sheet: If you think Hillary is doing a great job of supporting the democratic ticket, don’t read this post"
.............Hillary is becoming "lieberman-ish" IMO. I'll have a very hard time voting for her in the future........if she can't do any better than this.

dictatorpresident.Bob Herbert (NY Times): McCain’s Radical Agenda
I must say that article on Mugsy's Rap Sheet is positively Republican in its' obtuseness. He concludes that it is Hillary Clinton's fault that any women have deserted the Obama/ Palin ticket because she failed to "reclaim" them. Like she forgot to pick up the dry cleaning. Apparently Mugsy thinks women only need to be told what to do and Hillary hasn't given them their orders.
NY TImes (AP): Ukraine’s Ruling Coalition Collapses
Bob Woodward still trying to "launder history" in regard to his complicity in the run up to the illegal and immoral invasion of Iraq.
Bob Woodward was on C-Spans Washington Journal this morning. He was spinning so much it made me dizzy.
Woodward was using terms like “when something is in doubt leave it out”. That the Bush administration should “knock heads into each other to get to the facts”, that they are trying to “launder history”. That there is a “gaping disconnect” between what the military is saying and what the Bush administration is about what is taking place in Iraq.
Woodward also talked about how important it is to “verify” information, and that “process” is so important.
It would have been great if Bob Woodward would have applied the same standards that he was recommending for the Bush administration to his own journalistic standards before the invasion of Iraq.
Listen to Bob cover his own complicity
http://inside.c-spanarchives.o.....=202153814
Bob Woodward is desperately trying to “launder history” in regard to his own complicity in the run up to the invasion of Iraq?
Woodward did not “verify” intelligence claims. He did not “knock heads”. In his own reporting about the false WMD intelligence he allowed for “gaping disconnects” Massively huge!
Bob Woodward is trying to cover his own ass in regard to his own complicity in the run up to the invasion of Iraq. All of a sudden Bob Woodward is concerned about the soldiers in Iraq who have said that they feel like they are driving around “waiting to be blown up”
Woodward is a worm writing to make more $$$$. He has not taken any responsibility for the part he played in paving the path to Iraq.
It's always a Clinton's fault - didn't you get the memo from Maureen Dowd?
Did you see that photo pf McCain on the Atlantic cover?
I was reminded of Angus Scrimm, the Tall Man, from the Phantasm movies.
I can hear it now..."BOY! There's a new war on boy. Time to shed this earthly construct anyway boy, now you die!"
but you know when McCain starts quoting Herbert Hoover as the economy tanks, you know he's around the bend.
Butch @ 20:
Yeah, it's all Senator Clinton's fault. What a crock ... part of me doubts she ever got your vote in the first place. Maybe if Obama and his supports went out and worked for these votes, rather than feeling that they simple deserved them, they wouldn't be in this situation. How does continually bashing Senator Clinton help him win the election?
Peter G @ 23:
.........Not quite. Clinton could easily rip Palin a new one. They can't use the sexism label on Clinton. I just wish she would hit Palin as hard as she was willing to hit obama. Kinda seems like she's posturing herself for 2012.
I was conversing the other day with an associate, on our suburban autobus enroute to work, that I find it interesting how much of the populace seem to perceive an equivalency between garrulousness and erudition.
His reaction was, "Do'oh?"
I was hoping he would pick up on the irony inherent in my statement.
taters @ 26:
. "It" is not her fault. Not doing shit as a self-professed Democrat is her fault
Yeah, it's all Senator Clinton's fault. What a crock ... part of me doubts she ever got your vote in the first place. you're right!!!! I was an Edwards supporter. Once he dropped out, I decided to back whoever won the Dem nod.
Mickey Finn @ 31:
It wouldn't matter how much Senator Clinton would do. For some around here, it would never be enough. If you people spent as much time making the case to those voters why they should choose Obama, as you do whining about Senator Clinton, you'd be a lot better off.
Look like democrats are finally getting around to emailing their own lies:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/palin/bristolbaby.asp
It's about time a few of these got sent around, the Republicans have already cornered the market on lies.
SFnomad @ 33:
When she does something other than campaign for 2012......then she'll be doing "something"
Butch @ 34:
What a bunch of crap.
McCain-Palin, trying to lie faster than anyone can call them on it...
SFnomad @ 35:
Butch @ 37:
Call it crap if you like, but it's funny funny how she can throw a fellow Dem under the bus when she is running against him, but can't do the same to the rethuglicans. Maybe thats why we keep losing. Look at the foxnews/Mccain coverage in January vs. their Mccain coverage now. I think that speaks volumes about them, but even more about us.
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/presidentbush/2008/09/cheney-lied.html
I don't get the big deal about the picture. That's exactly how mcstain looks to me. Are they pissed that he wasn't given the madonna/brittany airbrush spectacular package? Tough shit.
I think she captured his inner being.
Corrupt, degraded, evil and cold. It's mr.burns in 3d.
But the best part is we've discovered that racist imagery sold as waffles = AOK
Taking a pic of the reslug candidate without airbrushing = evil
So the photographer took unflattering pictures of mcstain. So what? Like I said I don't see anything out of the ordinary in the picture. He looks just like he always does. Old, sick and evil.
pissed off patricia @ 6:
Oh damn Woody...that sucks dude!!!
I'll keep my fingers, toes AND eyes crossed for ya.
The situation in Bolivia is a little more complicated than that... I'm not saying the US has any business in there trying to destabilize the country, but Evo Morales is doing a pretty good job destabilizing the place himself. The violent protests by the mining and coca unions that swept him to power can sweep him right back out, he's beholden to those interests, especially in the fall, after the harvests and before the holidays, when there are a lot of angry, drunk, unemployed laborers itching for someone to blame. Cue the anti-american rhetoric, the torching of cars, and the expulsion of nonpartisan foreign aid workers.
