New Obama ad attacks McCain's economic advisers

When you readily admit you don't understand the economy, it matters a whole lot who you surround yourself with to provide advice on economic matters.

mcfuckhead tried to blame the wall st crisis on
obama today and said that obama took a lot
of profit out of fannie mae and fredie mac.

just another loser reichwingneocon fascist.

A nice short rabbit punch. I like it.

The Reserve Fund in distress

USA Today

Is this one of the 401K managing funds, are we now seeing peoples pensions going bye bye !?

so what word causes the awaiting moderation thing then !?

Barack showin his roppa dope skills. Lovely.

There is no honor in Republicandom

good advert, short sweet and to the point, something that people can understand easily.

Repugs too?

Neil Cavuto had Rupert Murdoch on his show today. Guess who Murdoch blamed the Financial crisis on? Wait for it.......wait......for it......
Barney Frank!!!!!!!!!! These people are completely delusional.

Reminds of the Simpson's episode where Bart is living in a bubble. When he invites Lisa in, she holds her nose and exclaims, phew!
Bart quickly claims he didn't do it. That's a nice metaphor for the Republican Party.

This ad has been playing in PA. for a week now. It's good. The balls McCain has claiming he will clean up the corruption because of lobbyists is being thrown in his face. The old white wrinkled brigade and a dash of a good looking white flunky female is being exposed for all to see. Add the fact he was all for privatizing Social Security, will spell doom. I hope the Average Joe dosn't buy McCain's bullshit. But my faith in my fellow Americans have hit an all time low.

only those ones not in denial, which is most of them.
but anything and everything that causes them some sleepless nights is good.
Quack economics mixed with Republicanism always leads to ruin.

Remember Foley?

Charges dropped due to insufficient evidence --- the repugs stonewalled the applicable evidence

good ad.

and, what's with the advertisement on this site: "who's more likely to cheat?" i know they are just random ads, but it sometimes trips me up thinking i'm at a republican website or something.

For a week? Man, what great timing for Obama if he started this ad before Monday.

It must be painful being a small town Repug at the moment, all their hard earned monies are being looted by fat cat Wall Streeters and swindlers, and thats just the DC Repugs.
How does the typical Repug connect their vanishing wealth with their adoration of their gods, who are smiling at them while sharpening sheep shears.

And Nancy Pelosi, she blocked the Florida FBI from examining Foleys congressional office computers.

Lots of folks said that Obama wasn't going on offense strong enough... me included.

Then I saw six new ads that he has put out and have been airing in battle ground states since Tuesday and Obama is definitely giving as good as he gets... in fact better!

Not to be crude, but Obama didn't want to blow his wad too early in the process. I knew this would heat up after the conventions. I think Obama is playing everything just right.

While the GOP did what they did best for so long...lie, bullshit, all that...Obama is the little engine that could...and will.

remember this 40 sec. video...mccain i don't know
where you got that quote i'm well versed in economics.

mccain says...(monday)the economy is fundamentally strong.the folowing days... major financial bailout in u.s. history

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OunCv-7qvA

It's precisely the kind of ad I've been wanting to see. It nails the hypocrisy and staggering incompetence of McIdiot.

Now I'd like to see an ad using McDope's own words against himself, showing how he has flip-flopped on an almost daily basis. Just how many John McCain's are there? One minute he says the economy is fundamentally strong then hours later the economy is fundamentally in crisis. One minute he's for more regulation but last week he was fundamentally a deregulator.

How about an ad featuring that stunning footage of him from last December shown on the Maddow show where he sat in silence struggling to answer a question on the sub-prime crisis? Is that the leadership America needs? McMoron is incompetent and out of touch.

WcCain IS out of his depth in the economic sphere, pretty much as are most people, the numbers are too big, the concepts extremely nonsense, shorts, fractional crap, its all micky mouse stuff, BS beyond belief.
Trouble is he has surround himself with the crooks that brought this carp down upon us.
So he deserves all the condemnation and ridicule that the public are heaping upon him.
Its as plain as the nose on his face, Sen. WcCain (R-POW 5.5) hasnt a clue.

There ya go. That's an ad. Attack who's advising him. I owned an HP...it sucked.

nonsensical and crap not carp (cough)

I don't know who's going to win the Election for President in November but I do know this...

The Republicans in general are going to be toast, and by that I mean those Congress and Senators up there who are running...

It's going to be massive shock and awe for the GOP.. A real bloodbath!

Bwahahahahahahaha!

We need to look at reality:

People who lost money are investors in the market. The average Joe.
The ones playing the market, those who sold short are the winners. Personally I wonder if there was not some kind of conspiracy - like a bunch of rich cats getting together and gang up on a few companies driving their share prices down. I heard that Sears actually had more shares selling short than were actually outstanding. That in itself should be a crime.

Taxpayers are losing in the short term - but only on paper. Remember the country is running huge deficits, and whatever properties the government/taxpayers acquire, the price of which will be added to the national debt - to be paid [maybe] by future generations, but there is the possibility that properties may actually increase in value, and if high enough, sometime in the future may create a profit for taxpayers, assuming they increase enough to pay for all the interest we have to pay into the national debt since their acquisition.

So anybody know anything about the 'Reserve Fund' !?

Fiorina and Graham may be the best thing to happen to the Obama campagn. Let's keep 'em on TV!

Now that is a good ad. Even the idiots that voted for Bush in 2004 should understand that message. The problem is if they understand it, they may be too scared to vote for a Democrat for President, especially when that Democrat is African American. I remember hearing Chuck Todd of NBC say that Obama had to poll higher than 48% because of the people who say they will vote for him, but actually won't because of his race.

This ad gets HALF-WAY THERE.

I wish the narrator would SNEAR a little. Each still shot of these DUNDERHEADS should tilt over backwards and SLAM-BANG on the floor with a sound effect and a PUFF of dust. Then, to close, you should use that shot of McSame kissing W in the ear. TRASH it up a little... and it would have some HUMOR... and be a hundred percent more memorable.

McCain on banking and health
OK, a correspondent directs me to John McCain’s article, Better Health Care at Lower Cost for Every American, in the Sept./Oct. issue of Contingencies, the magazine of the American Academy of Actuaries. You might want to be seated before reading this.
Here’s what McCain has to say about the wonders of market-based health reform:
Opening up the health insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking, would provide more choices of innovative products less burdened by the worst excesses of state-based regulation.
So McCain, who now poses as the scourge of Wall Street, was praising financial deregulation like 10 seconds ago — and promising that if we marketize health care, it will perform as well as the financial industry!

YIKES, that proves to me that there will be massive repercussions for their actions today and probably even worse..

Scuddlebutt from the financial wizards out there is that the retail company's, manufacturing, and commercial real estate are the next in line to fall.

No matter the regulations today the fact is liquidity is still low and tight and there's no confidence in a system that is clearly being manipulated and is failing.

The American public have four choices...

Republicans for more of the same and worse to come.
Nader Greens and a back to the stone age lifestyle at its most extreme.
Ron Paul for some very strange Libertarian utopia, prob more scarier than the Greens.
Or Obama/Biden and a known liberal style of Democratic government, JFK meets Carter meets Clinton.

A no brainer really.

The story was on PBS tonight, on the News Hour show. After the McCain clip came on, PBS went on to explain that Obama contributions came from employees, and that McCain omitted that the McCain campaign had received 10 times as much money from Freddie and Fannie directors and officers. So much for the "straight talk". Excellent clip. I am at a loss after 8 years of lies from Bush, how some people in this country want to hear 4 more years of lies from McCain.

There's an old saying that no one lost money underestimating the intelligence of the American public. I'm beginning to appreciate the corollary, that one might lose their shirt overestimating the intelligence of the American public.

I always picture Bill O'Reilly as a modern version of 'Lord Haw Haw'
theres something fundamental about him that suggests this to me.

This is moving in the right direction but needs more punch - why hold back? Show more of McCain being the sleazy weasel he is. The more I find out about McCain, the more I don't like him. He is a festering sack of lies and hypocrisy. Palin is simply a dope with nice boobs. A pimp and his paycheck.

While we are locking up 18 yr old kids for 5 years just for smoking a joint, wall street is raping us. Now I remember why republicans hate the French. They used their heads and solved this problem. As republicans continue to steal everything that isn't bolted down, they'll continue to create a militant police state to stifle protest and control the press.

This is textbook corruption and real-time national decline we are witnessing. Like global warming and evolution, the republicans continue to deny it. Did you all see the man walking up and down the beach in Galveston, Texas carrying this giant American flag as the hurricane was bearing down? There you have the republican solution to every problem. Pull out the flag and force everyone to sing god bless America.

Fools.

Nice. Obama's gonna need two more really good ads as soon as they can get a minute as if they have one to spare now. One on this if you haven't seen it yet...

Sydney H. Schanberg, a journalist for nearly 50 years, has written extensively on foreign affairs--particularly Asia--and on domestic issues such as ethics, racial problems, government secrecy, corporate excesses and the weaknesses of the national media.

Nice! That is a good ad. Now hit McCain with Keating 5.

"the fundamentals of our economy are strong" GWB 2007 Why don't they put that quote in the ad, show bush say it, then show mccain say it? It would be a lot more effective.

They forgot to mention the whole Keating 5 Scandal.

O'Reilly and Hannity&Colmes

The FCC should yank Fixed News' license for gross incompetence

WOW! THE BEST!!!!!!

This ad is how you do it. More of the same, Obama. "Credit" where credit is due, and the Repubs' policies deserve the credit for this fiasco. Not only do they deserve this, but this should be an object lesson for Americans in general -- the Repubs' (and Blue Bush Dogs') legislative support for massive deregulations are what led to this mess.

constituent @ 57:

did mccain fire the SEC commissioner christopher cox

After Wall Street complained about excessive regulation, Bush fired normal republican Donaldson from SEC and replaced him with industry friendly and right wing extremist see-no-evil de-regulator and basic nut job Christopher Cox.

Bush, McCain, Palin. Dumb, Dumber, dumbest. We are watching a festival of twits.

I have a strong feeling the reason the McCain campaign was putting out ads and talking points that were flat out lies is because they were hoping the outrageous could get the Obama campaign to play the Keating 5 card. If they could have brought it out of the Obama campaign a month or so ago, then it wouldn't be a potential nail in the coffin for the Palin/McCain ticket now.

With all of those Lobbyist and Washington insiders working for McCain not to mention Rove advising him, you know McCain knew these companies going under is no surprise to him. The only surprise to him is that someone forgot to send him the memo to tell him just exactly when hence "the economy is fundamentally strong."

I think that was another board member.

Carly was fired because she basically destroyed everything that Hewlett and Packard created. Both families still thread a lot of water in the HP board and canned her ass after a somewhat hostile re-take over.

Gregg @ 64:

Obama's all-in for this bail-out stuff, how's that going to work in the election? If I want bail-out of rich people, I vote McPalin.

The Democrat approach to bailouts is for bailouts, but enact regulation to prevent the need for future bailouts. The Republican approach is to bailout, but oppose regulation so that private enterprise can enjoy the profits while socializing the losses.

I think this round of bailouts occurred to prevent a 1929 style of depression. But one has to wonder how we're going to pay for it?

We're going to pay for it by ___
1.) Inflation caused by printing dollars
2.) Borrowing, increasing the national debt
3.) Enacting taxes
4.) Jesus is going to return to earth and miracle away the national debt.

If you select "4", you are absolutely correct. You now need to vote the McCain/Palin ticket.

I think the latest round of bailouts may have prevented a 1929 style depression. But, the alternative may be a post World War I Germany, where the inflation kicked in so bad that it took a shopping cart of marks to buy a loaf of bread.

Feel free to add a number 5, 6 or 7. I remain firm in my conviction that there is no free lunch.

I hope the Average Joe dosn't buy McCain's bullshit. But my faith in my fellow Americans have hit an all time low.

Couple that sentiment with the liklihood that people will think that John McCain actually, really has some solution to solve problems and he'll deploy them once he's elected, heaven forbid (consider:"..I know how to catch him!"). What McCain will do is surround himself with the same incompetent people that Bush did or worse, the lobbyists he's currently surrounded by and in a matter of months totally ruin more than the economy. People not talking about the election are talking about the economy and its a lot of doom and gloom. The last thing we need is a leader with his head stuck in the past and I'm sorry to say, approaching the end of his life. That's harsh I know but with right-wing Governor of Alaska sitting as the VP, doing her job waiting in the wings if the elder Senator doesn't live to the end of his term, that must be considered. But it won't be! And then there's a headline on Yahoo this morning about Democrats who don't support Obama because of his race and disgruntled Clinton supporters, there's no wonder that Obama isn't leading in the polls by larger numbers. Obama is fresh, articulate, smart, calculating and everything that this country needs and all some people see is a liberal black man (and he's not that liberal). Think the economy is bad? This situation, the tunnel vision of the American public, is worse!

uh, ROBERT RUBIN is Obama's economic advisor. Same ilk as Sachs, Gramm, Greenspan, etc. RUBIN helped repeal Glass Steagal as well (as Clinton's economic advisor), and do not forget Bill Clinton signed off on it. Too bad Bill didn't listen to Robert Reich very often, if ever.

I would have added. Carley, was given a 40 million dollar gold parachute after firing 25,000 American workers and sending their jobs overseas. But maybe they didn't have the time.

Nice add

The bill that ultimately repealed the Act was introduced in the Senate by Phil Gramm (R-TX) and in the House of Representatives by James Leach (R-IA) in 1999. The bills were passed by a 54-44 vote along party lines with Republican support in the Senate[8] and by a 343-86 vote in the House of Representatives[9]. Good point, of course. Nevertheless, he raised no awareness of whatsoever. He could have vetoed it anyway and raised a public stink. None of this absolves Rubin, who is every bit the worthless scumbag Gramm is.

I am so heartened with the way Obama has handled his campaign all the way down to the fund raising and finances. This really shows that he is ready to lead our country. When Palin came on the scene many panicked, me included, but Obama bided his time didn't attack, knew that she was a flash in the pan and people would tire of her quickly and that is happening, especially given her history and the troopergate issue in her home state. I am so looking forward to our new president Obama going to the white house and working for us the people. We the middle class have been battered under the current administration and it is happening as we speak with the bailouts with taxpayer money, the wealthy running off with everything leaving the many of us homeless and in poverty. bush has done more damage in 8 years than anyone pres in history.

My grudge is this:
Biden has been out there stumping for Obama doing interviews, speeches, etc. Yes, he’s gaffing here and there - but at least he’s out there talking with the American people!!!
Palin is in hiding because Mccain knows she will gaffe. Also, she is not out there doing solitary speeches on behalf of Mccain like Biden is doing for Obama. She is scared because she will not have Mccain by her side. If Mccain would stop being so damn sexist and treat Palin as an equal, and not so incompetent, then he should let her go out there and stump for him. He thinks the American people are not watching this fundamental issue, and it is rediculous that he is keeping her on a leash! If she is ready to lead, she needs to do this at least once. ONCE!!
By the way, just because Palin is meeting with Karzai in NY will not make her a good foreign relations expert.

Remember the S&L crisis in the late eighties? It was John McCain and Phil Gramm in lock-step then. This time it's John and Phil in lock-step again. Oh yeh it was Phil Gramm with the ENRON loophole too, just ask Phil's wife who sat on Enron's Board.Oh yeh it was Andrew McCain who sat on the board of Silver State Bank, as well as the holding company which owned it. Andrew resigned less than a month before the Feds took over Both. Andrew is also CFO of Cindy McCain's company. Anyone still trying to figure out who is FLEECING the American people?

Perfect, stay on message. I am all for competition, but I am not for GREED, 42million dollar buyouts for Carly from HP is WHAT is wrong with this country. Try being a sales person in our nation? You drive revenue - Then corporate america, pays you less per sale while "stockholder" dividends and CEO salary go up like a rocket ship.

This is the ENOUGH that I feel is part of the OBAMA campaign.

Wall Street, and Main street will turn around when this country becomes less greedy.

Why does the McCain Presidency scare me? Loyalties. McCain came back from NAM, dumped his wife after meeting the "Barbie" at a reception for (the barbie took him to another state for a divorce to speed the process), Naval folks after McCain was given a cushy job "lobbying" congress on behalf of the Navy. Rich wife from Arizona says, "Honey, come with me back to my home, I got plans for you, we have alot of financial strength in my state" and voila, Congressman McCain. Can you see this picture? I am the only voter in the USA that sees this as a testament to McCain "character". Is this the kind of guy that you can see is looking out for Main Street or John and Cindy street.

I dont know about you, but I just dont see these folks caring too much about "middle america". I wonder who had more friends that were relieved by this weeks financial circus? --John McCain or Barack Obama?. I bet any amount Johns roladex /blackberry got more relief than Baracks's. ALOT MORE

Obama supports the bailouts. That is not change we can believe in.

Gotta keep the economy strong so people will keep going shopping.

And I sure as shit want to stop hearing so called "conservatives" and Republicans talk about free-market capitalism. The free-market, whatever sense of it really even existed before the past 14 days made it clear, is dead. They killed it. This is a planned economy with limited capitalist-like qualities.

Campy @ 9:

Neil Cavuto had Rupert Murdoch on his show today. Guess who Murdoch blamed the Financial crisis on? Wait for it.......wait......for it......
Barney Frank!!!!!!!!!! These people are completely delusional.

Reminds of the Simpson's episode where Bart is living in a bubble. When he invites Lisa in, she holds her nose and exclaims, phew!
Bart quickly claims he didn't do it. That's a nice metaphor for the Republican Party.

Well...... Barney Frank did say in 2003 that he did not care about the safety or security of the financial system and that it was only important to build up home ownership. Just 3 words: "community reinvestment act," and let's see which rat holes that takes us down.
