New Poll: ZERO PERCENT say economy is getting better

Wow. I don't think I've ever seen a poll in which literally not a single person answers a certain way, especially on an issue like the economy.

First to say ZERO.

I know I've never seen a poll where not a single person answers a certain way.

The fundamentals of the economy are strong. By fundamentals, I mean Joel's Army

under a fiscally responsible Republican Administration.

well, the zero club is a pretty big club- good thing the fundamentals are so stable....btw Bush hit a new Approval LOW too- in the ARG poll- 19% approve of the job he is doing ( and Cheney must be in single digits by now...)....funny thing that should translate to McBush - right ?

I can't believe 13% think its staying the same.

And how in the hell, when we are in the midst of this GWB catastrophy of catastrophies #10,005; how in the hell can 43% of the people in this country want to vote for more of this shit? God I hate those stupid fuckers.

Never seen a 0% on any poll in my life...

I remember one year in university where my organic chemistry prof. was being evaluated by the students; the results were disregarded because of the "statistically impossible" (the dean's words, not mine) result: Not one single student, out of over 100, gave him a positive evaluation.

Just watch some dittohead apologist make the same argument.

And 19% approve of the job shrub is doing.

That zero proves that the richest 1% in the U.S. do not pay their executive assistants to participate in polls.

Dear Lord. Has there ever been a poll that actually had a result of zero? I smell doom for the GOP. Well, let's hope so.

I wonder how that scam artist Hannity would spin this so shortly after claiming the economy is in great shape.

The ARG didn't known which McCain residence to call.

Hope that you'll have the biggest turnout for voting in history...
Let's hope that Palin's numbers will get there too

43% rigged push poll, 19% rigged approval poll.

We have a situation arising, will the Repugs allow the humiliation of being landslided into oblivion on nov 4th,

or will they cancel the elections ?

Do they want to be remembered as pathetic losers in the history books, this is the danger coming.

Actually the 5% in the undecided column are the same people that will make a killing by grabbing up deep discounted assets from the failed private institutions............they just don't want to appear to be gloating at this time.

Heck of a job Shrubby!

Indeed, what a fine legacy you will leave.

Fuck off you miserable piece of shit.

What it doesn't mention is the 60% who think that the current economic turmoil is the Democrat's fault.

best way to fix up the economy might be to arrest all the crooks on wall street and in the beltway.

why is it that a dead hooker like jeanne palfrey took defending the u.s. constitution more seriously than the vietnam veteran running the FBI, the air force general running the CIA and the admiral directing our nation's intelligence?

Brian@26, No. How Bush could have won in 2004 is still amazing to me. But with the markets in turmoil and the middle class suffering, maybe Americans will actually pick up a newspaper and educate themselves.

This poll conclusively proves that John McCain was not sampled.

Congressman Peter DeFazio on the bailout:

"..."We shouldn't be rushed into this. If it takes a week, two weeks, three weeks, a month, the world will wait," DeFazio said. "They'll wait for a thoughtful plan that cures the disease in addition to getting us beyond this initial problem. That's the job of this Congress. We should not be rolled by our Wall Street exec who is masquerading as secretary of the Treasury......"

What was president Clinton's approval rating when he left office !

wikipedia

Clinton left office with an approval rating at 65%

Chimpy's approval rating

25% maybe, if the wind is blowing in the right direction, and they push poll the question.

It would never happen since it would result in open revolution, but I SO wish they would just let the economy fall now, rather than pawning off the problems on the next generation. It would be nice if it would hit the rich who got us here the hardest, but I know it wouldn't... But that's what mob riots and lynch mobs are for...

:D

Long story short, we MUST pass the mother of all bailouts to protect the rich and political elite from revolution a la the French variety.

instead of a $700 billion bailout for Wall Street why not just put that cash into Social Security -- after all John McCain says it will run out in 10-20 years so why not take pre-emptive action and make it solvent for a few more years.

Sarah Braun @ 46:

I don't know, I'd argue it's more a plutocratic oligarchy. We still don't have just one person deciding how to run the country. We have lobbyists, bankers, fed governors, some members of Congress, and some high officials of the administration all working together in their best interests.

You mean the dumb factor. How anyone could be undecided after what the refucktards have done the last eight years, is simply incomprehensible to me.

The bailout is a fraud and a huge attack on this country. Paulson is nobody's savior but his own. Nobody can help us but us. Call, write, walk up to strangers on the street, tell everybody you know how we are being destroyed. That would be by the radical rethugs loose in this country who apparently hate us. The letter R should be removed from the alphabet. That's how much I hate and fear them.

I've been off riding econ blogs and news all day. It's amazing how many people believe all the bullshit. Bloomberg had an article by some slob from th AEI with the headline DEMS TO BLAME FOR ECONOMIC MELTDOWN. I was like HUH? Then I realized it was from the AEI (who had a different schmoe just the other day rip into the GOP.) It's surreal.

Whomever said it above was correct...we have officially entered into true Fascism.

I wouldn't be so sure. Just saw an ad for this new "comedy"

I find it interesting how Republicans STILL can't help but lie, even with the phrase: "The Master of Movie Satire" as part of the trailer. It's attributed to a reviewer named "David Zucker." David Zucker is the director of the movie itself. Zucker is a rabid right-wing filmmaker.

One more thing to worry about. Hollywood Republicans got together to make a cute comedy poking fun at Michael Moore as a person who hates America and needs to be taught a lesson. Wonder how many "real Americans" it inspires to go to the polls on Election Day?

still tells us that 18% of americans surveyed are clinically retarded

But Republican McCain is tied with Democrat Obama?

If McSame gets in the White House kiss Americans last days buh bye!

Sean knows his job well. So do I.

His job has nothing to do with facts, reality, or logic. He is a rapid fire regurgitator of talking points, accusations, and insult - nothing more. Sean has contempt for logic, and those who expose it. He uses his guests’ seeming confusion over his illogical and fantastic assertions as segue declaration to victory even as his self-contradictions reveal his ignorance.

Sean would lose any high-school debate, not from his being defeated by any opponent, but by disqualification alone.

Strictly speaking up to 5 Republican zombies could've answered the economy was doing great and the result would've been 0%. The sample used the results of 1100 people and rounds to the nearest whole value and normalizes the results so all totals amount to 100%. So 5/1100 comes to about 0.45% which rounds down to zero. As for the 18% that thought things were going better last month remember the steady drop in gas prices for most of August? To some that may have felt like things were getting better. Today's huge jump in the price of oil will likely give them a dose of reality. The economy is in shambles and Shrub and Grampa gleefully preside over the destruction. The only question is how broken will it be when President Obama (oh, I can't wait to type those words for real) takes office and what he can do about it.

Wanna know why the zero support is there? It's because the toadies haven't been paid since June! Yes, the repubs are dead beats and now their payroll is biting them in the ass. Life is sweet.

It ((boggles)) the mind!

Before the Huffington Post Arianna had The Partnership for a Poll-Free America. I wish she'd bring it back. We can all pretty much agree that we're in the middle of some tough times that will be with us for a while. But results like these are an example of "bad information is worse than no information."

How many people were sampled?
It's interesting to gauge people's feelings, but while we can all judge how things are going for our own households, how accurate is the general public's understanding of the economy?
You'd think that for any survey with any reasonable sample size, some percentage of people would represent a given answer.

There's so much good evidence that times are tough that putting out shaky data like this does more to undermine our case than help it.

I guess even the pawnbrokers are running out of money to loan...

After looking at that graphic, I have just one question. Is that lipstick?

If you read down in the guts of the poll data, you'll come across this absolutely amazing gem:

Among those saying they approve of the way Bush is handling his job, all say the national economy is not in a recession.

We now have empirical proof that people who approve of Bush are completely oblivious to reality.

This begs the querstion - why isn't Obama leading McCain by 10 points in the polls?

Well, Chuck Todd on MSNBC just reported that the Florida and North Carolina polls are now tied. A positive sign, perhaps. His explanation is that voters in the south are only now 'tuning in' to the news that the economy has tanked.

I'm sure it's not the first zero grade that boosh has gotten.

Well, technically, they're right. But that's because our definition of recession needs to change. For example, if the economy drops 10% one quarter, rises 1% the next, drops 20% the next quarter, and 2% up the fourth quarter, then there is no recession. But if the economy grows 10% in the first quarter, drops 1% in the second, and drops 1% in the third, and then grows again 10% in the fourth, then there IS a recession.

Obviously the first situation is worse overall, but because the definition requires two consecutive quarters of a drop in the economy, we can technically avoid the label "recession".

Also, we should go back to the 1930s definition of unemployment, we're probably closer to 20% or 25% unemployment right now by that definition.

I missed this one. Sorry. There ARE 5% undecided. WTF!

They only polled Democrats. If they had polled Republicans too, 46% would have said it's getting better.

I wondering who the undecideds are.
