Blue America Senate Contest
By Howie Klein Friday Sep 26, 2008 1:00pmSince we announced our Blue America Senate contest last Saturday, we've had almost 1,700 donors voting for our 5 Senate candidates, Rick Noriega (D-TX), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Andrew Rice (D-OK), Tom Allen (D-ME) and Mark Begich (D-AK), and we've raised over $45,000. If you haven't voted yet, please do; you've got 'til noon, PT. And we'll announce a winner at 1 pm. Since Rick Noriega is way out ahead, here's a clip of him making a campaign pitch that will give you an idea about why he's so admired and respected in Texas and why he'll make such an extraordinary U.S. Senator.

only in america!
Noriega's got scary eyebrows. Nice ad, though.
In the ads of the despicable Jim Inhofe, they've Photoshopped Andrew Rice to make him look dark, brooding, young and crazy.
It'll probably work w/some of the [pejorative of your choice] around here (Oklahoma City).
He kept glancing a bit to the left to read off cards, though.
I don't care about that, but it doesn't look good on camera:P
i know this is off topic but why doesn't
Obama link the financial meltdown with ENRON (deregulation of power industry)?
this kind of deregulation always fails
Go Rick ! F*ck you Cornyn!
Right on Rick. Hope folks will contribute. Here in Texas, we're doing our best to replace Bush-sycophant John Cornyn with Rick Noriega. Anything that makes it easier for Rick to get his message out to Texans is most appreciated.
I live in Houston, Texas. If it were not for the newspaper and online blog, I would not know Rick Noriega. I play close attention to politics and Noriega is not getting his message out. I do remember when he was asked if he supported Obama or Clinton during the Texas 2 step primary/caucus, he laughed and said he was supporting whoever the winner was.
In Oregon, it can be certain to get rid of Gordon Smith. That is a close race that can be won. Smith is Cheney's lap dog. Please rid the senate of same.
Noriega posted on his website that he was outraged that the American tax payer would be forced to pay the $700 billion dollar bailout for wall street. This was posted before a bill was even drawn up. Before a bill was even put on either the floor of the Senate or House. Even before McCain had gone to Washington. Why did Noriega automatically think that the taxpayers would have to shoulder the burden of this bailout? Can anyone answer this? Maybe he had talked to soms Democrat Senators or Reps and was told that they were committed to giving Bush what he wanted?
Much as I'd like Noriega to win we need to donate to a candidate that can win and much as I like smith and the Udall's in general we need a fillibuster proof majority hence we need to vote for Jeff Merkley.
John - really disappointed by the Democratic Party @ 10:
What was the date Noriega posted this on his website?
moonsha @ 12:
Noriega's statement was posted to his website on 9/22/08. The legislative proposal on the bailout was sent by the White House overnight to lawmakers on 9/20/08. The proposal showed up in print for most major media outlets on 9/21/08.
Hussein sciguy Hussein (my middle name is not Hussein) @ 7:
I don't think he has a snowballs chance in hell against Cornyn the cowardly creep. WTF is wrong with Texas?
The GOP in Texas redrew district lines through gerrymandering which is what is wrong with Texas. BIG OIL has a stranglehold on Texas as well.
