Jon Stewart Mocks Couric/Palin Interview

Jon Stewart recaps Sarah Palin's excruciating interview with Katie Couric.

Couric: But [Rick Davis] still has a stake in [his lobbying company] so isn't that a conflict of interest?

Palin: [Blank look on face]

Stewart: If you look closely in the reflection of her glasses, I think it says buffering...buffering...buffering... I love this show -- it's like the first season of Lost, only it makes less sense.

Stewart is the new Will Rogers.

If it wasn't for Stewart and Colbert I think most people would of lost their minds.....

They are my fearless leaders.....

But Not to Worry, Report Says Dan Quayle's Prepping Palin for Debate

http://satiricalpolitical.com/?p=3679

John Stewart's guest (Tuesday this week?) indicated his show is a hit in Iran.

the republican'ts had to go all the way to alaska to find the one human being dumber than their role model george g.d. W. m.f. bush.

for some reason no one has seen this new mccain ad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITToVCGgvEk

LOL. should be at the top of digg.

Even here in Denmark, Stewart is great! We don't get "The Colbert Report", but do get two of "The Daily Show" a day.

Stewart is turning into Lewis Black ... !

"4 Scandal Manager Says: John Stewart’s guest (Tuesday this week?) indicated his show is a hit in Iran."

Cooool. If the Iranians embargo oil...we can embargo John Stewart!

We would have imploded if it were not for Colbert, Stewart and as of late Tina Fey.

Tina Fey ,Katie Couric, Colbert, and Steawart are bringing her down. Well I should add Sarah Palin to that list

"Lars Says: Even here in Denmark, Stewart is great! We don’t get “The Colbert Report”, but do get two of “The Daily Show”"

Look around the web. You'll find enough Colbert to keep you satisfied.

Kathleen,

I'm sure that that is a direction that Sarah is very familiar with.

The last part with McCain answering is just great............Shut up! Daddy is talking! You be quiet!

Hope you get Colbert some day...one of the best. His delivery at the White House correspondence dinner was one of the best things I have ever seen or listened to. The full 24 minutes is the best

here's Palin giving a response/answer to a relatively
soft energy question. NOW remember she the leading
energy expert in the united states.
short video 40 sec.

http://thinkprogress.org/2008/09/18/palin-energy-nonsense/

I guess expectations have been lowered sufficiently so that, unless Sarah poops herself on camera, she will be declared the winner.

she goes on in the transcript to say she doesnt feel anyone should go to jail for getting an abortion. this again points out their weak rhetoric. they constantly equate abortion with murder and would prosecute the doctor if they had a chance but not the person that ordered the hit.

4:59 - 5:01, just as Stewart is noting that McCain showed up to act as Palin's ventriloguest dummy's voice, the camera angle actually makes it LOOK like Sarah Palin is a ventriloquest's dummy sitting on McCain's lap. FanTASTic!!!!

It's true. Since the Republican Convention Stewart has been having a hard time masking his disgust and outrage at the mockery politics has become. His interview with Peggy Noonan last night was a prime example. He gets very heated and borders on hostile toward the current situation capturing the feeling many of us have about the total lack of substance being discussed in this campaign while the nation itself is crumbling.

Even Colbert has been dropping his schtick and showing his true progressive views with not as much satire and more disgust.

I love the way McCain cuts off Governor Palin by saying, "I'll let Gov. Palin speak for herself."

palin hypocrite when she became onto the national scene.

*palin raised taxes on oil co. profits.....taxation

*was for 'bridge to noWhere' before she became
against it........earmarks

Once again, B R I L L I A N T !!!

Very true. Though, if that were the case the number of people supporting the illegalization of abortion would most likely plummet just as it does when they try to punish doctors for performing the procedure. I think the idea of throwing young women in prison or jailing doctors would seem too radical for the average pro-life supporter. Of course, I should never underestimate the manipulative strength of religious piety.

Well well well....this is too damn funny!

PUSH...REGISTER VOTERS PUSH HARDER

Obama campaign pushing voter registration in Michigan as deadline nears
by Kathy Barks Hoffman | The Associated Press
Thursday October 02, 2008, 7:43 AM
Leisa Thompson | The Ann Arbor NewsEastern Michigan University freshman Aris Yancey performs during the NAACP EMU Chapter's "Rock the Vote" concert at the EMU Student Center on Wednesday. There were nine performers and six speakers, including EMU President Sue Martin. The Washtenaw County clerk's office and other organizations were there to register voters at the nonpartisan event.

LANSING - With just five days left to register voters, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is traveling to Michigan Thursday and sending in his wife and a top hip-hop artist to push the registration message.

The campaign also has created a video playing on the Obama Web site and YouTube that features Obama, running mate Joe Biden and a host of Michigan Democrats and popular entertainers who have hosted voter registration rallies and events in the state.

"This is the biggest election of our lifetime," Obama says in the video. "If you are already registered to vote, get your friends and family to register to vote. If you need more information about where to go, get on our Web site. ... Remember, we need to do it by October 6th."

Even Colbert has been dropping his schtick and showing his true progressive views with not as much satire and more disgust.

I don’t think many people fully understood why Limbaugh became so popular when he did (circa ’93). His shtick was not much different than Stewart’s or Colbert’s. What the ditto-heads were doing was laughing at those offended by what Rush was saying. Like sitting around a poker table – if you don’t know who the mark is…it’s you. (And, yes, of course that I get that Rush was a sycophantic water-carrying mouth-piece for the neo-con ignorami – that’s not my point.)

As I watched people listening to the vile that was Rush back then, I saw they were laughing. They enjoyed feeling superior to those they felt were intellectually superior to them via comedy. Rush delivered this well. You really couldn’t argue with what he was blathering about then or now, because it was just insults and inane posturing. But it was funny to his listeners.

The evolutionary next step is what Stewart gave us. Since you couldn’t argue with them using rational thought or logic (they’re impaired that way), you have to then ridicule and laugh at them. It worked. But it’s really just the other side of the same coin.

Comedians all over the country will vote Republican....can't blame them.

Pulling out in time appears to be a problem in the Palin household.

Sorry, couldn't resist...

ok This woman is a raving loon. This is a quote from an article written in April just after she had Trig, or Algebra or whatever the kid's name is.

"In a letter she e-mailed to relatives and close friends Friday after giving birth, Palin wrote, "Many people will express sympathy, but you don't want or need that, because Trig will be a joy. You will have to trust me on this." She wrote it in the voice of and signed it as "Trig's Creator, Your Heavenly Father." "

So she stands in for God these days. No wonder she thinks she's qualified....

Hey, why not? It worked for Chimpy. As long as that coke-sniffing, alcoholic mama's boy didn't pick his nose or piss his pants, he was the "winner." It works every time.

Also, as much as my respect for Couric has grown, my disgust with McC*nt has skyrocketed. I don't care if he's 72 or 172. I'd love to have five minutes in a locked room with that little Napoleon. His smug face is just screaming for a punch.

Jon Stewart for president.

I'm still wondering if Trig is even her baby.

Looking at Palin and McCain in that interview, it occured to me, McCain is like Citizen Kane when Charles Foster Kane was caught with his "Opera Singer" mistress, and he spent a fortune trying to turn her into a real star. Talk about pathetic life imitating cinematic art.

Buffering...

LOL

Sarah Palin was not McCain's first choice for a running mate. He wanted Miss Teen South Carolina, but she was smart enough to admit she was not up to the task!!

But I do understand she's reconsidered and is making herself available if Palin pulls out!!

Q) There's only one thing worse than the Sarah Palin Interviews. What is it?

A) Americans who will still vote for her. (yeah, I said vote for HER, not McCain)

I doubt that Stewart's buddy, McCain will be appearing on TDS anytime soon. John, John, John, you have only yourself to blame for losing this election. Instead of Rove humiliating you, you are humiliating yourself. Take stock man, get rid of the ignoramous quick pick and do the right thing for the country. Geez, we thought Bush v Gore made the country look bad. That pails in comparison to the VP choice you've made.

Sarah, a former journalist, couldn't think of one newspaper, not even her own? C'mon.

I'm not even going to comment on the BS nonsense spin of how Sarah was thinking of the next question. That alone makes her sound mentally retarded.

Yes, McCain has conceded Michigan and is pulling his campaign out.

Is Crooks and Liars gonna be posting Jon Stewart's long-awaited interview with Bill Maher? That was a classic.

The only thing that is going to be a bigger comedy than Palin showing her ass to the world tonight will be the MSM talking heads making even bigger asses of themselves as they try and tell how wise and erudite Palin's performance was. Regretfully I have to agree with you, to a certain extent. Intellectual honesty requires that you 1) Listen, 2) Understand, and 3) Form an opinion 4) respond. Intellectual certainty automatically skips to #4.

I find it better to listen and learn than to use comments as an emotional safety valve for anger and frustration – and too often that’s what they become.

But I’m glad you’re here – for what it’s worth…

i've just watched pat robertson spew the same tired stupidity about palin's executive experience on cnn and i need to vent... so... this is the best place that i can find an outlet for this frustration....

PUH-LEEZE get off the pot about palin's executive experience... that tired meme is just pissing me off so much that if someone were to say it to my face, i would literally be incapable of keeping from punching them...

to say she has enough executive experience to fill the job of vp is the same as saying that a self-employed hot-dog vendor has enough executive experience to run general mills....

F***************k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its probably a hit anywhere its shown! Isn't that one of the great things about this country, you know that freedom of speech thing! Stewart and Colbert create more good will towards this country than Bush ever did!

Sept. 13th - really? It seems so much longer than that but I did spend a week at my right-wing brother's house in FL the following week and that was a very loooong week demanding a lot of wine consumption. Thanks for clearing that up for me. lol

Actually, lets spread credit around, thanks to Stwart and all of the writing staff, for the many years of laughs and insight.

Thanks to you all.

Man, I'm LOVING all the comedy material being generated by this woman. She's pure GOLD. I don't ever want it to end. In fact, that settles it: come November, I'm voting McCain/Palin!

The two of them will have us laughing all the way to Armageddon!

I think she going to tank in this debate tonight. You just can't teach this stuff after a couple of days. She's just not really very bright, just a pretty face with talking points. They now say she she's going to attack Biden on the issues, stuff he has said, to get to Obama. Not a wise choice, Biden's a pretty tough customer. That will fail.

I really hated that Katie Couric suggested that the morning after pill is akin to the abortion pill. By even framing it in the life-begins-at-conception line, you completely misrepresent what it does. It PREVENTS conception, so it cannot be in the same category as abortion. Period. She needs to make a retraction.

I'm telling ya, people...if she wears her hair down tonight, look for a wire.

Just sayin'.

The more of Sarah Palin, I see, hear, or read about .... the more I'm thankful that I'm not married to her. It would be more merciful to have a grizzly bear devour me, then to wake up each and every morning to Palin next to me.

You're right. I'd jump out of bed and out the door by 2am - 3am at the latest...

I like Miller back in the day before he lost his mind. Still, he's no Stewart or Colbert and never will be. Miller was "clever". Stewart and Colbert are genii.

The best part of last night's episode was when the new girl (forget her name) tried to take the reigns of the show. Hysterical and PROPHETIC. Everyone who is even vaguely contemplating voting McCain because they like Palin should be forced to sit down and watch that segment.

When I see 1st Dude walking behind his wife, waving like a madman to all these people, I liken it to, The Stanley Cup winning team returning home and the guy out there waving the most is the equipment boy!

Even here in Denmark, Stewart is great! We don't get "The Colbert Report", but do get two of "The Daily Show" a day.

Hope you get Colbert some day...one of the best. His delivery at the White House correspondence dinner was one of the best things I have ever seen or listened to. The full 24 minutes is the best

See, luckily we don't get Bill O´Reilly, Sean Hannity or any of those Fox News blowhards, so I guess much of the comedy - as in imitating O´Reilly would get lost on people here. But he does have some fantastic shows and a great humor.

His WØRD (yes we have that letter!) segment is just hilarious.

On a side note, interesting that I keep seeing pictures of Palin today with her hair down. Hmmmmmm. Perhaps making it easier to hide an earpiece????????

i LOVE that lip smacking thing that sarah palin does, the grin, the gaze. it reminds me of the look my girlfriend gives right before she fellates me.
