Former Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour admits that referring to Hoboken's mayor Dawn Zimmer as 'Lady Mayor' probably wasn't beneficial.
January 21, 2014

Haley Barbour continued to harangue Mayor Dawn Zimmer's credibility after her accusations against Chris Christie surfaced this weekend. Yesterday on CNN he referred to her as "Lady Mayor", which Chuck Todd this morning gave him a chance to clarify what sounded to most people as disparaging. Barbour did one of those "I apologize if anyone took offense" routines these guys do, of course.

This is what Barbour said on CNN:

HALEY BARBUR: "This is a lady mayor who asked for $127 million of hazard mitigation money from the governor to give that to her from the federal money. When the state was only receiving in its entirety $300 million."

And Barbour continued his fun with numbers today, saying Hoboken had received $70 million in federal aid, the same figure the Christie people use. In actual fact though the city itself received only $342,000. The discrepancy in the numbers due to private payments made to residents who had insurance. Further details on these numbers can be found here, from the Star-Ledger.
