They just can't stop themselves. This Monday, Bill O'Reilly opened his show with their latest version of why the attack on our consulate in Benghazi is supposedly a scandal. This time it sounds like a new twist on Darrell Issa's latest thoroughly debunked accusation that Hillary Clinton ordered Leon Panetta to "stand down" on during the attack, combined with the nonsense that John McCain was sputtering to Bob Schieffer on Face the Nation this Sunday.

O'Reilly claimed that former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta has not testified under oath about what happened that night, conveniently omitting the fact that Panetta already testified before Congress last year: Conservative Media Selectively Crop Panetta's Congressional Testimony To Attack Obama On Benghazi

Now Bill-O wants his audience to believe that Benghazi is just like Watergate -- but don't say he's trying to compare President Obama to Nixon -- taking their fake scandal to a new level of stupidity. Here's how they covered it at Fox's blog:

O’Reilly: Panetta is Key to Knowing if Obama Campaign Used Deception in Benghazi Attack:

The Benghazi terror attack was the subject of Bill O’Reilly’s Talking Points Memo tonight.

O’Reilly said that liberals believe the attack is an old story. He said everyone knows that security in Benghazi was bad, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has taken responsibility for that.

“But what everybody does not know is why the White House misled the world about the terror attack,” he said. “That question remains unanswered.”

“The Benghazi story is similar to Watergate. That’s why we should all be paying attention,” O’Reilly said. “The stupid burglary was small ball, but Richard Nixon’s attempt to subvert the Democratic process was huge and got him booted out of office.”

O’Reilly said he is not comparing Nixon to President Barack Obama, but said we must get to the bottom of the Benghazi story.

This weekend, then-U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice said that the information she relayed was provided to her by the intelligence community and that the information turned out to be “in some respects” incorrect.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) responded to those remarks, saying, “She read talking points that we are now beginning to believe came from the White House which were absolutely false.”

O’Reilly said that former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta must testify under oath about whether or not he told Obama that the murders in Benghazi were part of a terrorist attack on the day that the attack happened. Panetta has never been asked that question under oath. Now, the House wants to do so.

“Panetta is the key to knowing if the Obama re-election campaign and perhaps the president himself used deception in the murder of our Libyan ambassador,” O’Reilly said. “Every patriotic American should want to know what happened there.”
