PORT NEWARK — Help has arrived.

A ship laden with road salt arrived in Port Newark this morning from Chile to replenish depleted reserves throughout New Jersey.

The vessel Paquis arrived in Port Newark shortly after 10 a.m. and was waiting to clear customs before starting to off-load its coveted cargo, a process that could take a couple of days, said Mary Kay Warner, marketing manager for International Salt Co.
