Democratic state Rep. Alvin Holmes of Montgomery made some noise on Tuesday with his controversial accusations during a debate on an abortion bill that would ban the procedure after the detection of a heartbeat
Holmes put his colleagues in the spotlight for what he sees as racist hypocrisy, claiming that they would support abortion if their white daughters were pregnant with black babies. He was deeply offended when the bills sponsor, Republican state Rep. Mary Sue McClurkin, compared it to Brown v. Board of Education. Holmes said,
