Fox Edits Out UCSB Victim’s Dad’s Comments About Guns And NRA

Fox News censored the anguished father of an Isla Vista shooting victim to keep its viewers from hearing his plea for stronger gun control.

On Saturday, Richard Martinez, the father of one of the shooting rampage victims killed near University of California, Santa Barbara, tearfully condemned the “craven, irresponsible politicians and the NRA” – which have blocked gun control laws – as responsible for his son’s death. Today, Fox News Sunday played a clip of the stricken father’s emotional comments – with the gun comments edited out. Reporter Dominic Di-Natale also set up an “angry father” meme at the same time.

In the wake of his son's death, Martinez said the following after his son’s murder:

Our family has a message for every parent out there. You don’t think it’ll happen to your child until it does. …Why did Chris die? Chris died because of craven, irresponsible politicians and the NRA. They talk about gun rights. What about Chris’ right to live? When will this insanity stop? When will enough people say, “Stop this madness! We don’t have to live like this! Too many people have died!” We should say to ourselves, not one more.

According to an AP report, Martinez made that statement “before dissolving into tears and falling to his knees as he stepped from the podium.”

But here’s how Fox News Sunday reported the emotional plea :

DOMINIC DI-NATALE, FOX NEWS CORRESPONDENT: Several thousand people turned out for a silent vigil procession, walking through the student enclave here last night. That solemnity and stark contrast frankly with the anger from the father of one of the victims, that was Christian Ross-Martinez, the 20-year-old student gunned down at the Isla Vista deli.

RICHARD MARTINEZ, VICTIM’S FATHER: When will this insanity stop? When will enough people say stop this madness? We don’t have to live like this! Too many have died! We should say to ourselves, not one more!

Notice how Di-Natale is already starting to delegitimize Martinez?
