There's been a lot of musical talent coming out of Australia in recent years, especially from Perth and Melbourne. It's good to see this kind of trend coming from a country that has been largely underrepresented in the music industry. These guys deserve every last bit of attention they get, too, aside from their work ethic that has kept them together for almost two decades, the members of Karnivool are world-class musicians. Their transitions are seamless: modulations and time signature changes sound completely natural every time, as they should be. However, there's more to them than just nailing transitions, they nail pretty much every note they play, even if their individual parts differ greatly. They have songs where I can't even find the downbeat, there are other songs where they're holding down insane polyrhythms for the majority or even entirety of the piece. However, there's more merit to this band than just their virtuosity, that's just one of their highlights. On top of their chops, they've got a great sense of song structure and harmonic/melodic structure, along with meaningful lyricism that compliments the music.

Know any bands with really good chops?
