December 20, 2015

It's not all that often that Saturday Night Live makes me laugh out loud, but Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's appearance with Kate McKinnon is one of those times.

As 2015 Hillary (McKinnon) settles down to rest before claiming her 2016 prize, she's visited by the ghost of elections past -- 2007 Hillary -- who warns about being cocky since Barack Obama showed up with a cigarette and a basketball and stole her life.

The conversation between the two is funny enough, especially when 2015 Hillary lets 2007 Hillary in on the fact that Donald Trump is the frontrunner in this election, but the fun really starts when Sarah Palin shows up.

I won't post it all here as a spoiler, but I'll share this one moment when Tina Fey is at her best imitating the Wasillabilly. No translation is possible, or even necessary.

"Now here's my advice. Ya gotta do what you believe in your spirit but also America? But not teachers and their fat liberal books but also and even why worry about fast food wages with their status quo which is another Latin word -- status quo. Meanwhile, Americans are bein' taken for a ride and also the man can only ride ya when your back is bent, so..."

She wrapped it up with one last sage piece of advice. "Also, if it gets too hard, just quit. Who cares?"

Happy Sunday morning!
