Reports: Major Trump Staffer Jumping Ship
October 20, 2016

Politico had some breaking news earlier this evening that the Trump national political director, Jim Murphy, may be jumping ship.

Details are still coming in, but if this is true, it is a terrible sign. No one leaves a winning campaign with three weeks to go. Or even a possibly winning campaign. When do they leave? When it is 99.9% sure that the campaign is a sinking ship.

Murphy is no longer playing an "active role" in the campaign, Politico reports. He had joined the campaign in June of this year to help set up field operations in battleground states and served as a liaison between the Trump campaign and the RNC.

In a statement to Politico, Murphy said "I have not resigned but for personal reasons have had to take a step back from the campaign." He did not elaborate on that statement, which left more questions than answers.

So much for that field operation Trump hasn't bothered to set up.

We will update this story as more details come in.
