This past weekend had me visiting Detroit to walk around to check out all the Dlectricity displays that were going on. One of the stop along the route was the Museum of Contemporary Arts which is currently running an exhibit called Sonic Rebellion: Music as Resistance which, of course, I had to go check out.

While there were many cool and important artifacts on display one that really caught my eye was an Ensoniq Mirage synth/sampler. I knew a few people who had one of them when they were new. Most of them didn't like them.

The one on display had a better story than that though as it was the one used by Derrick May aka Mayday aka Rhythm Is Rhythm aka the Innovator to compose and create several Detroit Techno classics in the 1980's such as the song I'm bringing to the music club this evening.

What are you listening to tonight?
