If I had to name one song that takes me back to my early childhood it’s this one. I would listen over and over, fascinated with the snake that drank root beer. Tom T. Hall was as unique of a songwriter that ever came out of Nashville. My friend Peter Cooper’s piece from American Songwriter is a great read for those wanting to understand Hall’s songwriting genius a little better. Hall died this week at 85 and he’ll sure be missed here in Nashville.
