Sharpton nailed Tom Delay over his phony use of his religious beliefs and Perkins had no answer for that. Leaders like Perkins take isolated incidents and then wrap themselves around them mainly to fundraise and rally their base. Like you didn't know that already. To save Perkins butt, Matthews being the good Catholic boy (I grew up Catholic) ended the segment by saying that he thinks there is a campaign against religion.
