The Proof is in the Scalia

The Proof is in the Scalia
The Boston Herald has the picture posted now.
"Despite Scalia's insistence that the Sicilian gesture was not offensive and had been incorrectly characterized by the Herald as obscene, the photographer said the newspaper "got the story right." Smith said the jurist "“immediately knew he'd made a mistake, and said, "You’re not going to print that, are you?" ...read on

Worst person: Kaloogian's folly

Keith Olbermann gives the dubious honor to Kaloogian for the phony photograph.

Go Francine Busby.

Kevin Drum: What's also interesting is that Francine Busby has 45% of the vote compared to 46% for the combined Republicans in this heavily Republican district. Hmmm.

For those of you who don't know, Kaloogian is supported by Move America Forward.

Insulating Bush

Insulating Bush

Murray Waas:

"Karl Rove, President Bush's chief political adviser, cautioned other White House aides in the summer of 2003 that Bush's 2004 re-election prospects would be severely damaged if it was publicly disclosed that he had been personally warned that a key rationale for going to war had been challenged within the administration.

Rove expressed his concerns shortly after an informal review of classified government records by then-Deputy National Security Adviser Stephen J. Hadley determined that Bush had been specifically advised that claims he later made in his 2003 State of the Union address -- that Iraq was procuring high-strength aluminum tubes to build a nuclear weapon -- might not be true, according to government records and interviews...read on

Jill Carrol released

That's great news. It seems like she was treated her OK, but being kidnapped is terrifying in itself. Jpod makes a fool of himself.

"It's wonderful that she's free, but after watching someone who was a hostage for three months say on television she was well-treated because she wasn't beaten or killed-- while being dressed in the garb of a modest Muslim woman rather than the non-Muslim woman she actually is -- I expect there will be some Stockholm Syndrome talk in the coming days."

Way to go Podman! Why is it that if someone doesn't agree with his politics-they are attacked after going through something like that?

The Christian Science Monitor has more...

Update: More embarrassing reactions from Little Green Footballs:

"She says the terrorists treated her well. Her interpreter, murdered during the kidnapping, was not available for comment."

Would Charles Johnson feel better if they murdered her too?

Liberal catnip has more...Think Progress has Imus's producer going off the wall...

Lieberman: "I'm not going to let them get away with it."

David Welna of NPR did a piece on Joe the other day. You can see that he's feeling the heat from Ned Lamont's-"Nedrenaline"
Welna: "...some label him Senator Fuddy Duddy-others call him President Bush's favorite Democrat. On the other hand Con. House Republican Christopher Shays, says he intends to vote for Leiberman who's more popular among State Republicans than Democrats---Lieberman's broad smile vanishes when he's told other Democrats are calling him Republican Light..

Lieberman: This is one of the big lies that the people against me are spreading and I'm not going to let them get away with it.

I don't know Joe, all we are doing is taking a look at your record. You're the one who sided with the GOP over Terri Schiavo. You're the one who said this:

"Lieberman said he believes hospitals that refuse to give contraceptives to rape victims for "principled reasons" shouldn't be forced to do so. "In Connecticut, it shouldn't take more than a short ride to get to another hospital," he said.

Time's Michael Ware returned to the US just long enough to share this with us:

"I and some other journalists had lunch with Senator Joe Lieberman the other day and we listened to him talking about Iraq. Either Senator Lieberman is so divorced from reality that he's completely lost the plot or he knows he's spinning a line. Because one of my colleagues turned to me in the middle of this lunch and said he's not talking about any country I've ever been to and yet he was talking about Iraq, the very country where we were sitting."

Mike's Blog Round Up

Martini Republic: We're pro-democracy, but we aint that pro-democracy

Informed Comment: What about the Kurds? Well, they've just jailed a journalist for 18 months for criticizing Massoud Barzani

Altercation: While George Bush and company were out invading countries that did not threaten us in any way, wasting trillions, killing tens of thousands, destroying functioning infrastructure, torturing innocents, inspiring hatred, and portraying America as a nation of incompetent, lying, torturing, illegal phone-tapping hypocrites to the entire world, what else was happening?

Brilliant at Breakfast: Tell me again how only Gerge W. Bush can keep us safe

The Daily Background: Misuse $45 Million in American taxpayer dollars. What can we expect from the company that charges the U.S. goverment (and subsequently us taxpayers) twenty-two dollars per ice tray?

Booman Tribune: If there is one decent quality about Bush it is his recognition of what vile rats the DC punditocracy are. He treats them with more respect than they deserve.

And you thought it was over

And you thought it was over
War on Christianity: Al Sharpton gets into it with Tony Perkins on Hardball today discussing this meme. And you thought it was over after Christmas. Sharpton nailed Tom Delay over his phony use of his religious beliefs and Perkins had no answer for that. Leaders like Perkins take isolated incidents and then wrap themselves around them mainly to fundraise and rally their base. Like you didn't know that already. "A Church under seige is a strong Church."

To save Perkins butt, Matthews being the good Catholic boy (I grew up Catholic) ended the segment by saying that he thinks there is a campaign against religion. (no evidence supplied of course) Would it kill these guys to do a few segments about the attacks on Gays by religious leaders or on evolution or the attempts to label text books or the...(please add to the list.)
