“See Something Say Something” Campaign Could Allow People to Label ANY AMERICAN a Suspected “Terrorist” … Just Like in Nazi Germany or Stasi East Germany
List of Actions or Beliefs Which May Get You Labeled a Terrorist Grows Daily
"Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
Time for everyone to take a second look at the whole war on terror, and see it for what it really is, and isn't.
A crime that cannot be swept under the rug.
"Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob"
-= Franklin Delano Roosevelt =-
It's amazing what does get swept under the rug in this awesome time of alternative media etc. I think it must be all emotional aversion to what is the ugly truth. And a lot of fear and conformity to fit in, get along, and get paid. Probably some apathy, stupidity and weakness mixed in there too.
"Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
Fear of Terror Makes People Stupid … So Here’s Some Comic Relief
Fight. Occupy!
"Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
The fact that power once taken is never willingly relinquished, and the fact that those of us in positions of power in government and business have proven themselves to be untrustworthy, proven that they will descend the lowest of expectations, makes it imperative that we, the people, re-assume the leading role in determining our destiny - or we ain't gonna like what happens next...

Thanks for reminding me to put "alerta_alerta" on my ignore list.
I was shocked at the way he/she? related to you earlier today.
You deserve WAY better than that!!!
"The US has an army of 90,000 soldiers in Afghanistan and is spending $100bn a year, but has still been unable to defeat 20,000-25,000 Taliban who receive no pay at all." - Patrick Cockburn
forget to put you on my ignore list too but I always remember that you're always remember to rave over Ron Paul just so we all can see how you think.
I wish more people raved about the restoration of our Bill of Rights. And raved about ending these wars. And raved about living up to the moniker of land of the free and home of the brave. Legalize hemp. Take back control of our currency from the private bankers etc. Those issues could be a lot of fun to have on the national plate.
"Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
Someone will come forward, and they will bring these issues to the table. Obviously it won't be what's left of media. Not media alone.
If not Obama in his second term, then someone else will come along who will challenge him on those issues. Not a libertarian either, and certainly not someone from the religious reich wing obviously. I think the book is just about closed on the whole hysterical, reich wing republican perverts. It makes sense that, after this revealing expose of what scum the republicans really are, that we are going to put them to rest. Someone will pick up where Kennedy left off, and this time he/she will not be snuffed out before they succeed in restoring honor to American politics, and government.

Yeah I had hope for Paul Wellstone too. Howard Dean as well. I thought the Republicans would be done after the 2008 election, but the Democrats totally folded and gave them the 2010 elections in the predicted back and forth between the two corporate parties, so neither has to take the blame for not succeeding in representing the people. They have the other to "blame" and for cover.

Umm.... I don't understand why anyone believes that when a political party totally screws up for years that means curtains for them.
You do realize that Americans have the memory span of gnats, right? No matter what the right does the worst that will happen is they'll get spanked for one election cycle. Then everyone totally forgets what they did before and they are right back in power.
It's happened so many times it simply astounds me that anyone actually believes the GOP is finished. All evidence points to exactly the opposite.
Interesting interview with Ron Paul's senior adviser and Rachel Maddow on how exactly Ron Paul is amassing all these ding dang delegates:

And isn't it strange how this posting of caucus results in Maine COMPLETELY rebukes the "Romney" results??:

"The US has an army of 90,000 soldiers in Afghanistan and is spending $100bn a year, but has still been unable to defeat 20,000-25,000 Taliban who receive no pay at all." - Patrick Cockburn
I thought it was funny how Rachel Maddow doesn't blame the flaws in the messed up Election system in that clip, instead questioning the tactics of Ron Paul's campaign. She also plays dumb which is unfortunate. She sure delves into Ron Paul in the clip but totally ignores the evidence of stolen elections with these new secret electronic election machines. Reflected poorly on her in my opinion.
And in the fake and managed CPAC meeting, they are now using electronic voting machines so that Ron Paul wouldn't win a third consecutive time, especially in an election year. Of course corporate favorite Mitch Romney won according to the software.

Only 83.7% (502/600 precincts) have officially reported/caucused. 2 counties that went against Romney in 08' not included.

Ron, if you haven't read David Sirota's piece.
here
It is thought provoking. I recommend it.
But my subtitle would have been, CHOOSE YOUR POISON CAREFULLY!
When Ron Paul says he is against corporate welfare and the MICC, why not take him at face value?
I give him credit for saying those things because no one else is saying them.
But on social issues his blood is as cold as the rest of the reptiles.
I wouldn't vote for him. But then I wouldn't vote for Obama. I didn't vote for Obama last time.
When he flipped on FISA I knew he was a corporate tool and wouldn't prosecute any of the fat cats.
That has proved to be true. No war criminal prosecutions. No financial criminal prosecutions.
Only vigorous prosecutions of whistle blowers.
Last time I voted for the socialist. I stick with my principles.
I have to believe Abby finds resonance with the positive in Paul and overlooks the rest.
statusquObama, change you can only pretend in
IF he were to be elected POTUS and IF he were to be allowed to take the oath of office he would then be allowed, as Commander in Chief, to sign Executive Orders to remove all the U.S. troops from bases all over the world and to end all U.S. hostilities on the planet. I truly think this would drastically change the course of the planet TOWARD WORLD PEACE and away from a NUCLEAR ARMAGEDDON. The whole concept of "BLOWBACK" would be dealt a new hand on the international stage. I believe we need a "re-set" and only a President like Ron Paul would make that happen. He is into diplomacy and conflict resolution, the others are into strictly macho militaristic moves.
As to the Affordable Health Care Act and abortion issues etc., ending the Department of Education blah, blah, blah...., I think he'd be in trouble.
I have a feeling he might be able to nose around more into the Federal Reserve as president.
I think he would be able to do more things related to our Constitutional rights related to The Patriot Act, The Military Commissions Act, the NDAA, activities of the TSA etc.
Not exactly sure what limits he would have but I would welcome an end to drone strikes with the stroke of the Paul pen at The White House. This would NEVER happen with another Obama term or with Gingrich, Romney or Santorum.
All the other stuff would be a fight. Okay. But in the meantime, the murdering of innocent civilians would be stopped and countries like Japan, South Korea and many others would, I think, welcome the U.S. high-tailing it outta there.
THAT is my thinking.
And I know FERSURE we ain't gonna get that with Obama Part Deux.
"The US has an army of 90,000 soldiers in Afghanistan and is spending $100bn a year, but has still been unable to defeat 20,000-25,000 Taliban who receive no pay at all." - Patrick Cockburn
DREAMER!
Ron what the fuck is wrong with you. Abby... well said. Ron weren't we all dreamers voting for Obama in that election. I'm proud of that.
You are going to throw around the label "DREAMER" as an insult. What is fucking wrong with you? You are way to thoroughly entrenched in the left right paradigm the corporations set out for you. Sad to see. Get out of the party mentality for a second and think about what is best for our society and country.

...our status as international pariah would be twice as bad: Not only does the US get involved when it shouldn't, it then just walks away to let the rest of the world clean up the mess.
Ask South Korea if they'd like to pay for their own self-defense...I'd say that you should ask the Japanese the same, but, quite frankly, their actions against the rest of the world, from the invasion of Manchuria until the end of WWII earned them the yoke of foreign military bases, plain and simple.

...just call someone a name.
Good argument, Alice. You're showing your true intellectual heft.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
It's just sad all the sacrifices we have to make in our society to uphold this global game of military bases and buying people off.

...games. Right.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
There are many crimes of history. Even the Nazis were taken aback by the Japanese vis a vis Nanking.
But they got over it and went on to even more ignominious atrocities.
What are you saying?
We have drones killing innocent people flown by suburban kids turned murderers. Kids that were raised playing video games shooting make believe aliens.
Now they shoot human beings.
There are your games turned deadly lethal.

Imperialism is not just a name, it is a concept.
Why do we have those bases, not for our national defense but at the behest of our global corporations.
When Germany sailed its battleships into Manila harbor in the early 20th century it was at the behest of their corporate interests.
That is what Imperialism is about.
You need to think this stuff through.
But then (and here is a real name), I consider you a Democratic Party Operative.
So there, take that courtesy of my intellectual heft.
statusquObama, change you can only pretend in
...or earlier, when it invaded Manchuria, then China, then the rest of Southeast Asia, slicing and dicing civilians after the battles for their cities were over? Remember when the US, completely unprovoked, invaded South Korea from the north in 1950, disguised as Uncle Kim?
(Oh...And which conglomerate of capitalists asked the Soviets to occupy Poland and Czechoslovakia- two victims of Soviet diplomacy- for 45 years?)
It's not as if our people were placed in Germany, Japan and South Korea out of some vacuum of history, Alice, no matter if that's the way Professor of History Abbybwood would have it.
Now if you want to bring up all of those other nations where we've got bases, I'm not inclined to argue the point. But Japan isn't Iraq, and South Korea wasn't a puppet regime of the West fighting a popular nationalist uprising cloaked in Marxism as was South Vietnam, but invaded by a cult of personality garbed in Marxism.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
You persist in revisiting the crimes of history gone by.
And thereby changing the subject from the here and now.
But let's join the the two
We have an Empire. Empires establish dominion through violence. They maintain dominion through violence.
We should be talking about the violence of this Empire.
Since WWII the United States has overthrown 30 democratically elected governments.
It is the greatest purveyor of state terrorism in the world.
As an Empire it exists to further the interests of its most global reaching affluent.
This has numerous precedents in history, since you seem so inclined.
For the English, the elements of the colonial elite ultimately superseded the landed aristocrats but then were superseded themselves.
Throughout history, Empires are inevitably overthrown.
Every Empire in history has been overthrown.
In the Academy award winning film, the King's Speech, the old Imperialist himself said in proclaiming resistance to the contemporary German Imperial onslaught that we will resist might makes right.
They gave the film an academy award but I was fucking falling out of my seat (I was only there because of my sweetie who is an English language academic). A phrase resisting might makes right from the Imperial Majesty of the Empire that slaughtered brown people by the millions was an irony I could not abide.
Gibbons question of the Roman Empire was not that it fell, but how did it last so long.
We are going to be no different, except in our longevity, which in the scale of history is going to be rather brief.
What are we going to do to effect the well being of our own citizens.
Marx wrote of the English Capitalists though he never used the term.
He was the most detailed commentator of the excesses of greed in his time. His thinking is still very relevant.
I part company with his notions of the state.
A full expression therein is for another time.

for this:
I want to check your math here.
I didn't bring Japan and South Korea- or Germany, for that matter- into the argument: Abbybwood brought the two former, and you brought the latter. If you're going to bring them into the argument, don't expect to go unchallenged when you try to make a false equivalence between the rationale behind one occupation and another- and the counter-arguments are part of the historical record.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
Japan isn't going to invade China, Germany isn't going to practice the blitzkreig on Spain - and the only half relevent one is S. Korea, which has the means and the populace to man the border themselves. To which, China isn't letting N. Korea start anything.

This is an incredibly interesting time to be alive. Revolutionaries, like me, have been waiting for this moment for a very long time. People, in many locales all around the world, have mustered their courage and are now challenging corrupt elites and the various power structures that serve them. First, there were the anti-austerity protests in Europe and beyond, and then came “the Arab Spring.” Even America, land long thought to be the epicenter of political apathy, has gotten involved. The Occupy Movement has renewed my faith in the American masses.

Sounds like Mittens "won" a squeaker in Maine's caucuses tonight, *barely* defeating Ron Paul. Paul backers appear to be upset because the Republican party in Maine won't do a recount.
Still, if it's that close, isn't that an indication of Romulin's weakness as a candidate? Shouldn't he have cleaned up in Massachusetts' back yard?
Nobody likes a guy that mockingly stuffs money into his mouth and ears, and has zero in common with , and zero concern for the poor, the hungry, or the average working stiff in America. I don't expect Romney to be in touch with the American people, but i don't want him for President either. He is the opposite of what we are all looking for right now, and that includes our conservative fellow Americans too.

Why is it people, even liberals, can talk about Santorum and Gingrich endlessly, but get annoyed whenever anyone brings up Ron Paul?
Maine state GOP says Ron Paul got 212 votes in Androscoggin County. Watch the Vote 2012 says he got 262.

A lot of 'pugs think Maine should be recounted, but because "it will embarrass the party," oh no. Mittens MUST win. To lose to Paul in his own back yard would throw the system into disarray. Who knows? Santorum might actually win Michigan! Shit oh dear.

So not so long ago there was the thread that Amato started about things he hadn't known about Romney's family history, including stuff about the family's polygamist lifestyle and the exodus to Mexico, etc.
I tend to tell people a lot that the more moderate fundamentalists like the Brown family of Sister Wives who are part of the AUB want to disassociate themselves with the unsavory aspects of fundamentalist past and present, such as Warren Jeffs, but at the end of the day they really can't because Mormon fundamentalism is one tangled present and past (Warren Jeffs' aunt was married to Christine Brown's grandfather who was also the grandfather of Robyn Brown's first husband, Jeffs' aunt was widowed when Christine's grandfather was murdered on the orders of the brother of Christine's other grandfather who wanted total supremacy in Mormon fundamentalism, etc. etc.)
Well, neither can Mitt truly disassociate himself. His Romney cousins in Mexico have evidently married into the LeBaron group among others (Christine Brown's homicidal granduncle was Ervil LeBaron), and, in doing my genealogical research on the fundamentalists, who should I find but a 1st cousin 2 or 3 times removed of Romney (and Huntsman) himself...buried in the FLDS cemetery.
I wonder how people would react to that kind of information.
"The greatest tyranny is censoring information in order to be better able to control people." - Cristina Saralegui
Same way they'd react when told Hillary Clinton was part of some strange group known as "The Family" in Washington D.C.
"Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
Good Sunday Morning! It is I, CafeenMan, here with a message of hopelessness. It is unfortunate that the message is absolutely true.
Our Congress and Senate are self-policing. Well, they aren't but they're supposed to be. That means there is absolutely no chance whatsoever they will ever straighten themselves out. There will be no Mr. Smith goes to Washington either.
Our government is spiraling downward and there is absolutely nothing any of us can do about it. Sooner or later some generation will have enough of it and there will be a revolution. But it won't be our generation because things aren't bad enough for us to give up what we've got for a greater cause. We have our Wii's, cell phones, internet, etc. We have our homes loaded with cheap junk from China. We can still consume to our heart's content.
That means we choose to keep ourselves entertained rather than do something real about what's going on. Sure, some people are protesting. Some are writing to their legislators. Some go door-to-door to spread the word.
It's all for nothing. It isn't changing anything.
Some of us even know what's going on. That doesn't mean we know about all the backroom deals nor do we know who really wields the power over our government. It could be the Illuminati, the Masons or just some really rich, powerful people whom nobody knows who they are. But we do know it's happening.
We know that whenever a new law is passed it's given a name exactly the opposite of what it does, e.g. the "Clean Air Act" that more than anything else made more polluting legal.
We can vote for Ron Paul because he will try to straighten things out. But he doesn't have a chance and as somebody said he'll also destroy a lot of our social programs that help the weakest among us. So I wouldn't vote for him and the powers that be won't let him be President anyway. If they did they certainly wouldn't let him accomplish anything he wants to.
As for me, I don't have an ideology. I take every issue on its own merits. However, I'm am very anti-GOP since they are true scumbags of the highest order.
So I'll vote for the person who has a chance who is the least GOP. Right now that means Obama even though I'm not real thrilled with a lot of choices he's made. But I can actually criticize him honestly without having to make things up like the wing nuts do.
In any case, it really doesn't matter. Things will continue to become more restrictive and intrusive. Quality of everything will continue to slide as will our expectations. And that's how it's going to be until some future generation decides to step up and do something about it.
But it won't be us. We'll continue to accept what is inflicted on us as long as we can distract ourselves with pointless entertainment.
CafeenMan - He's all the Sunshine YOU need!
I see a little bit of wisdom this morning, someone must have slept well. Things will change at some point, but your right, it's going to much later than sooner. However, Obama is really a total corporate repubulican. That is he is all for corporate control and deals - he's just lacking the Total Nutcase Gene that would make him a bonafide member of the Republican party.
For me it's still too much. I'll continue to hope a third party or something will arise so I won't end up throwing my vote away. Some would argue that would be tossing it out the window. No, I'm tired of voting for corporate stooges.
