Following Sarah Palin’s emergence on the national stage, the blogosphere lit up with reports that Governor Palin does not actually hail from Wasilla, Alaska but from a planet known as Wazeela.
The tiny planet, which is located some 37,000 miles due east from the Sun, is known to be rich with fossil fuels that lie beneath snow-capped peaks.
Internet reports also cited the particularly short 5-month gestation period of Wazeela females as proof that Palin was, in fact, a Palien.

Everything I learned in life, I learned from Monty Python. As in, the Republican platform : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQFKtI6gn9Y&fe...

It's easily the largest issue facing us now and for some reason C&L isn't giving it much attention. This downturn has barely gotten started.

It's a foreign debt problem, I've said that 1000 times here now easily. Obama recently acknowledged it too.

Obama Says U.S. Long-Term Debt Load ‘Unsustainable’ (Update2)

May 14 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama, calling current deficit spending “unsustainable,” warned of skyrocketing interest rates for consumers if the U.S. continues to finance government by borrowing from other countries.

“We can’t keep on just borrowing from China,” Obama said at a town-hall meeting in Rio Rancho.

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206010...

No we can't because they cut up our credit card last January, that's right China isn't buying our debt like they use to. Sadly Obama's policies fly in the face of his words. He is spending like never before. Bush drove us the cliff and Obama is making sure we go over it.

Gerald Celente Trends Alert - The Bubble to End All Bubbles

Kingston, NY -- The biggest financial bubble in history is being inflated in plain sight, said Gerald Celente, Director of The Trends Research Institute. "This is the Mother of All Bubbles, and when it explodes," Celente warns, "it will signal the end to the boom/bust cycle that has characterized economic activity throughout the developed world."

It bums me out to say but I think C&L has turned into a bit of left agenda driven pom-pom waving site instead of insisting on the truth like it use to.

As I often tell people, Canada is more like the Scandinavian countries, or Northern Europe, than the USA. Or SOCIALIST. What happened south of the border?

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development says people in Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands are the most content with their lives. The three ranked first, second and third, respectively, in the OECD's rankings of "life satisfaction," or happiness

…. In addition to the top three, 'we' (that's you guys-- the USA) were beat out by Sweden, Belgium, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland and Norway.

The problem; How to take photograph of posing armed 14 year old 'hitler youth' without making them look like midgets to the camera and the viewer. Solution; lie down on the floor with the camera.

Seriously its gotten to a bad state of affairs when children are being trained in military style operation like a modern day 'Hitler JugendBund'.

I am sure they did some strange things in the scouts in previous decades, but tactile weapons training and SWAT raids takes the biscuit.

Ditto with the Jesus Camps and those recent videos of 3rd graders communally worshiping a cardboard cutout of GWB.

Compare the modern US Scouts to the Hitler Youth.

We are heading for a world of hurt here in the US with this indoctrination of children in fascist techniques and training.
History shows only one eventual outcome from such a program.

I saw this yesterday. What a frightening country you're fast becoming.

Ferrofluid's picture

Children informing on their parents and families to police officers in schools. A long winded twisting lecture on the evils of drugs to gullible eleven year olds in a class room with stress on how people can be helped and 'tell us who you know is...' then the parents etc get arrested, charged, and locked up on the word of their kids.

We stupidly seem to want to practice 'the worst' of the worst regimes that existed, here in the US.

ron's picture

you had better start training your kids for the resistance against the neocon fascist rightwing nazi corporatists that will be sponsering the boy scouts.

fiver's picture

The rightwingers get more guns because they're afraid of some one taking their guns; others see this and either get guns to defend against the gun nuts or get law enforcement to take the gun nuts' guns which is what they were worried about in the first place.

The most important ingredient seems to be fear. It feeds on itself and multiplies.

But what I found frightening yet hopeful was the blurb under the video. Sure it's radical, but it's also basically true for as far as it goes.

What the Oath Keepers see as a tyrannical regime is definitely different that what I see as tyranny, but the premise of our obligation to the Constitution over a tyrant breaking that Constitution is valid.

This is frightening because some of the many, many people waking up to the fact that this country is severely screwed up will be attracted to those who blame it on having a black, foreigner president who wants to take your guns.

It's hopeful because many, many people are waking up. So much so that they are being appealed to on a Constitutional basis. I like that arena for argument.

If nothing more, our side doesn't have to explain respect for Constitutional rights with a backdrop of torture photos... to a military audience.

How much jail time for somebody pointing a gun at somebodies head, and then shooting them three times in the leg !?

Answer; If you have rich connected parents and a sympathetic judge/prosecutor, none.

Oh how it sucks to be a rich defendant.

But worse if you are the one with bullets in your leg and not able to finish college like your assailant was allowed to, then his paltry fine (for a Hummer driving student), community service and some probation.

Will another Republican governor reject Obama's promotion? R.I.P. to the one of the last journalists who dared to deal with reality. Leno helps the unemployed cope in Ohio. gallup poll that shows more americans now identify with being pro life than pro choice?

something doesnt seem quite right

MountainMan23's picture

From the AP:

NEW YORK – A Gallup Poll released Friday found that 51 percent of Americans now call themselves pro-life ..

The findings, obtained in an annual survey on values and beliefs conducted May 7-10, marked a significant shift from a year ago.

A year ago, 50 percent said they were pro-choice and 44 percent pro-life — in the new poll, 42 percent said they were pro-choice.

On the face of it .. it is bogus.

In one year's time Americans are going to change from 50-44 to 42-51 about ANYTHING?

Let alone such a galvanizing issue?

That's a 15 point shift.

proudlyprogressive's picture

Thanks for the links. I'm totally disappointed in O-bought-ma/Rahm/DLC and on and on and on...........Black-faced Bush. Every day when I think maybe something 'good' has happened, no..........just the corporatist agenda/BLOODYISRAEL. I really don't see any hope at all. Glad I got out while I could. Wouldn't ever go back, not even to be buried. Every day confirms my decision to leave the USofBLOODYISRAEL. It's not talked about much, but PUKIES are also ex-patriating, rats leaving the sinking ship, and polluting the rest of the world with their perversions/sociopathy.

She had all the time to go after Bush's indiscretions when he was in office; but she acts now when Obama desperately needs to focus on saving the country from economic disaster. Yes, I too believe that certain fuckheads need to go down, but that's not going to happen now anymore than when Pelosi and Reid gave the American public a pretense of "oversight" during the latter years of Bush's second term. Not because there's no desire for it to happen, but because Pelosi's clearly not prepared for any political blow-back. How else can she explain being caught on discussing "interrogation techniques", and then trying to argue that she was oblivious to the specifics of what was going on back then, and then only act "outraged" five years after we already knew they were a Bush policy?

So the only thing I can surmise from all this is that she's doing this to save her own ass in the next round of mid-terms. Think about it: Congress is still suffering from crappy approval ratings; Repugs are no longer the easy targets at the polls; and so, voters are going to clean up house on any Dems who appear to be fucking them over in favor of corporate lobbyists.

Furthermore, Pelosi's no longer the center of attention, now that Obama's taken her place as the Dem spokesperson. So she's clearly yesterday's news, and she knows it. Hell, the only reason she won her last mid-term had more to do with people voting anyone but Republicans than her own popularity. Otherwise, none of her competitors would've gotten more than 10% of the vote. And yet, together, they got nearly 30% of the vote; that's got to be a warning sign, especially in light of the fact that Lieberman whizzed through his race by only a majority of 10%.

So my theory is that she's bringing up this whole torture issue to co-opt the Sheehan crowd by making her case that she's so liberal, that she's even more liberal on torture proceedings than Obama. She's clearly hoping her district will forget about kissing Bush's ass, because her "progressive" record is at stake. In addition, if this tactic fails, then she'll be able to create the image of dissension in the party; and voters desperate for cooperation will get so frustrated, they might kick out the decent Dems in favor of Republicans who pretend to be "bipartisan". And any possible shift in the majority might convince voters not to "rock the boat" by picking Sheehan or her equivalent, for fear that they might suffer another '94-type mid-term loss.

So there's no fucking way Pelosi's suddenly changed her tune. She's not doing this to hold anyone accountable, since she's not telling us anything we don't know already. This whole cat-and-mouse game with the CIA is just PR for 2010, and that's all there is to it. So let's not fall for her bluff; let's instead work on her replacement.

moonsha's picture

Marcy Wheeler has done some damn good reporting on the whole Pelosi story. I encourage you to go read Marcy's posts on the matter then let's see if your theory changes.

Does anyone remember Clinton saying the words below, supposedly to Tony Blair, 10 years ago?

I will do all that I can to find a way around that d--n Constitution.

I'm in a discussion with a lady on a local message board who has posted this, and the only source she has given is a web site that cites itself:

www.lasttrumpetministries.org/2004/February20...

Searching Google with Clinton's name and the quote only brings up 8 sites, and they all point back to the above site as the source. She says she remembers reading the quote in several publications but "can't remember" which ones.

ron's picture

She does. Still blaming Clinton.

Bad Eye's picture

Well, to her credit, in her post she also quotes Bush's well-known take on the Constitution. I'm just curious as to the context of Clinton's quote.

For those who are interested, the PBS show To the Contrary (which focuses on women's issues and has a panel of all women pundits and leaders to talk about them) is going to have a segment on the relationship of the GOP to women. I don't know if they're either going to talk about how the GOP can court women voters and politicians, or if they're going to talk about the (abnormal, imo) psychology of women who are attracted to the GOP.

Should be interesting.
