Happy Saturday!!

I do promise to get back here when time permits.

GOP Governors Insist They Have a ‘Stake’ in Palin

You are getting good at those movies.

Who is that...Mary Pickford? She looks a bit like Jennifer Aniston.

From Pollyanna (1920).

true dat!

Begich is doing well in Alaska. Franken needs attention in Minnesota. Organizers needed in Georgia to win that damn thing on December 2nd. Missouri still hasn't been called as far as I know. And Charlie Brown is doing okay in California.

Now THAT'S Entertainment!

Never fully appreciated any filmed version of Alice In Wonderland until now!

Bluegal, you have a future in Hollywood. Awesome!

AIG CEO Ed Liddy in his "own words". Thomas Friedman loses a few billion. Can HPV vaccine cure male genital warts? Gulf War vets continue to be forgotten.
Don Cornelius lets me down, while Lindsay Lohan is reminded by animal activists to stay off the white powder. Obama already helping South Los Angeles residents feel better. I wonder if he can also win the Guiness Book of World Records for hate speech and death threats against him.

he's slapping around his wife. Deadly weapon? Yikes.

WTF is wrong with some people?

too much money and privelege?

He's getting older. Could be a bad mix of medication or dementia setting in. If he's never behaved this way before than I would suspect something medical. OTOH, maybe he's always been an ass and kept it quiet.

those doctors give differing things to keep the bills coming.

thanks. I didn't think of that. I must be getting old.

delightful. I wonder if we could persuade Woody Allen to redo What's Up Tiger Lily with the same theme.

"Senators Leahy and Sanders Oppose Chairmanship for Lieberman"

Two senators, Pat Leahy (D-VT) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT), have publicly called for Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) to be stripped of his chairmanship of the Homeland Security Committee. The Democratic caucus will probably vote on how to handle this situation. Many Democrats are very angry with Lieberman for supporting John McCain, but they also need his vote on cloture motions, so it is a tough call for many of them.

People forget (especially including the Democrats) that Bernie Sanders is an Independent (a real one), not a Democrat. It would serve them right if he threatened to start voting against them or witholding his vote *unless* they strip Liebermann of his chairmanship, thereby forcing them to make *shock horror* a DECISION (corollary - and show some backbone) about this issue. It's not about retribution but honestly, what do people normally do with people that work so actively against their own interests. Not reward them for starters ...

Is an honorable Senator and would never vote against his constituants best interests under any circumstance.

And I love Leahy for coming out against Lieberman.

I met Leahy and chatted with him when they did the filibuster about a year ago (the only time they made the fucking goopers filibuster). I thanked him for what he was doing then. He's a good man.

among the dems. where's feingold?

GNA

It is time for me to hit the sack...long day tomorrow.

Sweet dreams all around!

I'm off to bed myself. GNA

I will try to look up some victoria trips for you in January.

She apparently is capable of filling out a per diem claim for living at home, provides no guidance for legislation but is able to draw lines through others' work, and can do all of her remaining duties by long distance and in her spare time. Governor of Alaska sounds like a perfect job placement for a special needs adult.

skippy has a link to (semi) exclusive pictures of the obama family on election nite!

Props to Blugal! that was fun

Excellent! Thank you for sharing... O that silly white rabbit.

Part of the inspiration for this was hearing that song on the radio...

Maybe progressives are not the advisers the Republicans want to help repair their party, but if they are to begin mending the party, they'd better listen to SOMEONE outside their bubble! They sure don't need to listen to themselves!

Admittedly, I'm not focused on Republican lawmakers unless they're thrown into our faces, but WHO in the party has the honor, substance, and gravitas to advise and lead them out of their self-inflicted destruction? I think of Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe, primarily because I wondered why neither of these women was put on the ticket with McCain if the party didn't want Lieberman and thought a woman would attract those angry Hillary voters.

The basic problem is two-fold, as I see it. First is their philosophy: less government is better. The lack of government oversight and government regulation has brought us to this pass, so those tainted chickens have come home to roost.

And then there is the desperate appeal to rightwing religion, started by Ronald Reagan. Do you recall that he sent a supportive message to the Southern Baptist Convention meeting when he was running? I was stunned. The religious right "values" also encapsulate racism, sexism, anti-sex, and anti-gay policies, which are not an illness that many Republicans think needs a cure. Until the Republican party sheds itself of this political "base", the religious right won't be marginalized, but the Republican party WILL remain marginalized and antiquated with little support. It seems pretty simple to me. This social segment is a millstone around their necks, which they incorporated into their midst in hopes of winning votes.

And until a leader arises out of the Republican rubble who can take them FAR from their errors, their philosophy and their appeal to the lowest denominator in our culture, they'll be unable to rise again for decades.

I hope they keep following dobson, robertson end especially falwell. thy can all go to hell. I have no interest in the 'well-being' of those hateful assholes. their political relevance SHOULD BE ZERO. They have earned it!

Why the "Viewer discretion" warning? A joke?

BTW: I saw "Wedding Crashers" on CBS last night. Wasn't John McCain supposed to be in it somewhere? If so, his scene was cut clearout.

Some people might find the cupcake off-color, but that was the point.

Eat me says it very well.

A 47-year-old engineer arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting three of his co-workers had been laid off hours earlier and returned to the office to ask for a meeting with the victims, police said Saturday.

Killed were 56-year-old Sid Agrawal, SiPort's chief executive officer; Brian Pugh, 47, vice president of operations; and Marilyn Lewis, 67, head of human resources.

I see big job growth for low-wage corporate security, paid to keep disgruntled laid-off employees from entering the premises.

He was saying the way to stay out of the poor house during this economic crisis is to make sure you're giving your 10 percent to the church. He said anything below 10 percent was "tip" money and then went on to say Jesus didn't die for your sins for tip money.

These guys never hit bottom.

to those companies that are advertising on late-night TV. Just put it in their pre-paid envelopes, and wait for the check to come back in the mail. Could feed lots of poor folk with that money...

Assuming 90 some percent of voters still consider themselves religious, it looks like it was Jewish voters who gave Obama the victory:

Obama wins or ties in EVERY income group except $50K-$75K annual income.

I guess some people have never heard the expression, "vote with your pocket book"
