Management of listed companies typically make multi-million dollar salaries. One problem in this debate is a misunderstanding of the executive leadership's function, which is to implement the wishes of the board and the shareholders. They are the go-to people for the billionaires that often own large chunks of these corporations. Relative the the owners, these people are paid peanuts for doing pretty bad things to their fellow citizens. Take the behavior of oil company CEOs during oil spills, BP CEO Tony Hayward during the Macondo spill or PAA CEO Greg Armstrong during the current Santa Barbara mess. It's dirty lying dishonest work, and probably terrible for your health, but some frontman has to do it.
