Crossing the finish line -- at full steam

This is my favorite video right now. Says what needs sayin'.

Especially when I read pieces like Noam Scheiber's latest offering.

GAh...poor bastard!

Finally a video I really like on here, this is exactly what will happen on Tuesday.

I am telling you, polls do not mean anything, when people go behind that curtain and vote, no one knows what they are voting.

I bet there will be a big Bradley affect across many states. How many people have said, 'yes I will vote for him' but in the booth, they don't. I have seen many people say, they are voting for Obama because they do not want to be considered a racist, now, although I don't agree with that, you have to admit some people do in fact think that way. Hey, we have loons on both sides, I can admit that, can you?

No reason for anyone to get hostile towards me this morning(which so many people do here, I have no reason why) I am just reiterating the video, nothing is over till it is over :)

Election...
With few exceptions, most voters realize just how CRUCIAL this election is to Americas future...and that Obama represents a positive future for this nation...McCain...not so much.
And try as you trolls might...all the negative bullshit propaganda in the world won't change that fact...
Obama's gonna win...and he's gonna win big.
The McCain campaign is in self destruct mode.
The ONLY way he can win, is by cheating...which the GOP is VERY adept at...but this go 'round...there's just far too many Obama supporters.

So basically, you're saying that the majority of Republicans who have answered polls are liars. Got it.

No, seriously, I'm just teasing here. You're right, there are loons on both sides. However, I don't believe the Bradley Effect is as large as you believe it to be. I do believe that the danger is exactly what this video is warning against: a bunch of folks smug and satisfied that Obama has clinched it, so there's no need for them to actually get out there and cast their votes.

I had been getting hostile -- extremely hostile. I'm so sick of all the fear-mongering and name-calling that has been going on. Then I went and voted early... and somehow I don't feel so bad now. I know I did my part, so whatever happens, my conscience is clear.

I think the young people will turn out because for one thing, they want to be a part of making history in this country. Plus they don't want anything like these past eight years.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

liberalNmoderation's picture

What kind of fuckin moron would say they're voting for Obama because they don't want to be considered a racist.
Sounds like right wing BULLSHIT to me.

Captain Kangaroo's picture

I think the Bradley effect is a non issue. People can give too many reasons for not voting for Obama that wont sound racist. Plus I think this may work just the opposite way. There are a huge number of Republicans who say they are voting for McShame but when they get into the booth they will pull the lever for President Obama because they want to be on the winning side and they see McOld for what he really is.

liberalNmoderation's picture

Made me feel better, that's for sure!

Liberalicious's picture

John, you've trolled and trolled here for what seems like forever. Exactly what are you going to do after an Obama victory/McCain defeat. Soil yourself? That seems so very likely. When this happens, I want you to EAT ever single ridiculous word you've said on here, in public. Admit you were WRONG, and not whine about it. But I think it's more likely that you will cowardly slip away, lick yourself, and then come back screaming and crying about how it's all so unfair.

WOW!!!!!!!!! so much hate, All I did is make a simple post and get blasted yet again, I didn't troll as you say, All I did was reiterate the video, please learn to read a little.

liberalNmoderation's picture

Took about 10 minutes.

liberalNmoderation's picture

That's one more for Obama...and one more for every Democrat on the ticket.

We need to bring Obama home!!

I would rather deal with the anxiety now and save the happiness for later, if there is a later.

At this point and after the last eight years, I take nothing for granted, not even common sense. The thing that gives me some hope is the McCain campaign fighting amongst themselves. I don't think a confident group would do that.

I voted last week and down here in my area of Florida, most of the counties are reporting from four to one to two to one in favor of Democratic voters in the early voting. Of course in the center of the state and in the panhandle it will probably be the other way around.

The good news is that I believe a week from today we will know for sure who the next president will be.....finally.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

Sierra Matt's picture

Like you, I take nothing for granted (I was living and voting in Florida in 2000.) I hope Obama's lead is just too big for even Diebold and State Repug Secretaries of State to overcome.

pissed off patricia's picture

2000 was a nightmare down here and it taught us one thing, if the right people are in the right positions, things can be changed. Katherine Harris, and Jeb Bush mastered the beginning of the end.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

Captain Kangaroo's picture

From what I have seen (not a whole lot) it looks like Crist is trying to get it correct. I saw yesterday where he was opening up the polling places for 12 hours instead of 8 hours. Jeb would have closed them except in the panhandle and in the center of the state. lol

pissed off patricia's picture

Yeah, some are saying Crist is doing this because he's pissed that he wasn't chosen for the veep slot. I don't thing that's the reason. Crist has not be a hard line repub governor. Actually he's been pretty fair. I think he just wants every voter to be able to vote so Florida won't be the butt of any voting questions this year.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

Amitola's picture

sooner or later he'll be up for re-election and he doesn't want to "piss-off" all those voters he'll need to ensure that...!

He's about the only republican I can ever remember voting for.
maybe I'll vote for him again if he keeps doin right by the people.

pissed off patricia's picture

The biggest energy expert in the world is now speaking on tv. Yes, that would be Sarah Palin. I don't know who she is speaking before, but whoever they are, they aren't interrupting her much with applause. Maybe that's because Ms Expert isn't saying anything new or promising.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

Captain Kangaroo's picture

They are probably waiting until the REAL expert speaks. Joe the Asshole.

Captain Kangaroo's picture

So, is everybody going to be blogging tonight when President Obama does his infomercial?

mudshark's picture

They're giving this so much airtime already it's like a mini series.
But I suspect this will bring out the trolls tonight.

What is your conceptual, continuity?

pissed off patricia's picture

I'll just be watching and listening and seeing if I can guess what kind of criticism he will be getting tomorrow from Morning Joe and Fox and Friends...which are now just about exactly alike in content.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

liberalNmoderation's picture

No matter what he says, they will put a negative spin to it.
And Joe's already said McSpain/Plain have no chance of winning.

Bangkok Bob's picture

That is indisputable, We can't leave any room for question. And even THEN they will try to make noise.

anney's picture

When you can, early, or on election day. Many of the polls show a close race, and we KNOW it will be close if Obama's enthusiasts sit back and think everybody else will vote for him.

=====

A bit OT for its lightheartedness, but just plain fun campaign graphics for Obama, Biden, McCain & Palin:

You can add your own!

Good on ya.

Captain Kangaroo's picture

Good morning.. er... evening. Bob.

pissed off patricia's picture

How's it going today for ya? Don't cha know (wink)

Even if I have to hog tie my brother to get the remote.
He's been channel surfing while I've been trying to watch the news...
Frustrating to say the least...I hate being poor...as much as I am loathe to purchase a teevee...I may have to, only so I can watch a show of my choosing, in it's entirety...

Captain Kangaroo's picture

I have a TV you can have. I don't know how to get rid of it.

liberalNmoderation's picture

I'm on unemployment right now after gettin laid off...and a teevee is not a purchase I can afford, or justify, for quite some time.

Nationally, a poll by the Pew Research Center found Obama with a 16-point lead among registered voters. The survey said Obama had 52 percent and McCain 36 percent, with independent voters supporting the Democrat by a 48-31 margin. More here.

Vote early! Vote come rain or shine! Go Obama!

Is it the 21st century yet?

pissed off patricia's picture

Is it just me, or does it seem like the cable news channels are covering a lot more Palin and McCain speeches than Obama and Biden ones? Seems everytime I turn on tv during the day, McCain or Palin is speaking somewhere.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

liberalNmoderation's picture

Although...they also seem to be picking apart said speeches... maybe there just ain't much to criticize on Obama and Bidens speeches.

wisedup's picture

It's real. Here's how it works. MSM gives mc dummy and moose girl FREE time and call it news. They hope Obama will buy more time to counter it. The CEO's make $ and later get big $ when they leave. The love of money IS the root of all evil. With repubs., it's all about the money, nevermind morals, right and wrong or anything else.

kerry was 6 points ahead on the day we voted, electronic voting flips gave this country to bush in it's second silent coup (the first being perpitrated by men in black robes)

they can easily flip a 6 point margin, this time they will be even more brazen, I do not believe a 10 percent margin is enough of a cusion.

let's make certain this coup is turned down and we reclaim our country, we need more then ten percentage point margin to win

liberalNmoderation's picture

But I think that it's going to be too much for them to overcome.

The 8 who were fired were fired for insufficient loyalty to the partisan politics of their local mentors or the Gonzo DoJ.

What the fuck do you think the other 93 loyal party hacks have been doing these last four years OTHER than preparing the ground for the next coup...

pissed off patricia's picture

Among all the other things McCain says he knows how to do, today he said he knows where to store spent nuclear waste. He didn't mention whose backyard he was referring to though.

For a guy who knows how to do so many things, he sure hasn't done much during his career.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

liberalNmoderation's picture

When he ridicules Obama for wanting it to be safe and clean...WTF?
What in gawds name is wrong with wanting to be environmentally responsible?

It's pathetic.

According to Zogby poll, Louisiana is voting Republican??? After Katerina??? How on Earth this can be?

liberalNmoderation's picture

I can say this...Outside of New Orleans...and maybe Baton Rouge....Lousiana is chock full of rednecks.

now, it's because so many folks displaced by Katrina migrated north to Rd Stick. When I lived there, in the 80s and 90s, it was all redneck/cracker country, except for the region around the University...

Captain Kangaroo's picture

Most of the Democrats were forced out of the state due to the hurricane.

PierreF's picture

Humm Good point. I am sure the Republicans are working hard for the Global warming so California and the whole East coast will be flooded and cleaned of democrats.

take advantage of early voting, wife voted on Monday and I voted Tuesday, it took each of us only about twenty minutes. the line was long but moved at a steady pace. here in northeast florida, the reddest part of the state, there was alot of talking in the line ahead of me, they where discussing why they were voting for Obama. this to me shows a change in the thinking up here, but i also seen quit afew older couples pull up with their mccain sticker on their bumpers. with that said, we can not stop pushing for Obama, I talk to people everyday who for whatever reason are voting for McWorthless. some i believe i win over, others there is no reasoning with them. i had a doctors appointment today, in the back room they were listening to neil bortz (sp) on the radio, so i asked them if that is the only station they listen to, or are they open minded enough to listen to other stations to get a clearer understanding of the facts. "no, just this one " they said. I just walked off. point is there are a lot of ignorant voters out there, i just hope they are too stupid or too lazy to vote. GO OBAMA
