The video above is a powerful response to Reichert's own smear ads, but that hasn't stopped the right-wing Wurlitzer cogs. On KOMO-AM today, the right-wing talkers were once again smearing Burner as a liar.

A self paying, not relying on old money or donations to get her education, doing the hard yards, educated woman, a Democrat to boot, be better than their lame-assed GOP contender? Maybe they should look and clean up their own messes before trying to splash it on everyone else.
Good positive pushback! I would think that any district in WA state would be glad to have Ms. Burner as their rep. including the very conservative Mercer Island Crowd.

I can't describe the low tactics of the Republican campaign in Minnesota. The latest was a flyer sent out to voters against Al Frankin. It's a fold out cartoon talking about his porno writing and his depraved behavior. The only problem with this brilliant campaign move is that children getting the mail would be inclined to open it up.

Now Dino Rossi, Washington state's seemingly perpetual Republican candidate for governor, is being deposed--I believe I heard it had to do with illegal contributions to his campaign from the wood products industry, one of his biggest supporters.
Rossi has done nothing but smear his opponent, Democratic governor Christine Gregoire, since she narrowly defeated him in '04, triggering one of the famed "voter fraud" firings of a Republican federal attorney.

God forbid Rossi gets elected. I honestly didn't think he stood a chance. Gregoire has been a very successful Governor. But apaprently it's pretty close. Rossi has absolutely nothing to offer to this state.
Here in eastern Washington, the general mindset is one of mistrust of government, as though government is responsible for their lot in life. To the extent that the anti-trust laws have been neutralized by the sitting legislature (Republican for the past 13 of 15 years), that may be true.
If truth be known, though, it has been the willingness of the Republicans to socialize agriculture that has been the undoing of their rural way of life.
Unfortunately, those mistrusting individuals don't always make the right connection.

Darcy Burner is the one who has been lying and attempting to smear Congressman Dave Reichart's record. Dave grew up in our community, worked hard for us as King County Sheriff and now serves us well in the U.S. Congress. Darcy Burner has lived in Washington State for less than ten years....and she wants us to think she knows what our concerns and interests are? She shows up as an ambitious twit who wants to join the likes of Maria Cantwell, Patti Murray and Christine Gregoire in making Washington State an old gals club. (I am a woman, by the way...but, unfortunately, none of these women represent my viewpoints or values). What's up with you men voters? Do you care to be represented at all? Send Dave Reichert back to Congress....he puts Washington State first.

While I agree with you that Burner has been much more guilty of negative campaigning than Reichert I disagree with just about everything else you say. Men should vote for men just because they're men? That's just plain dumb. But in case you didn't know there are plenty of men in the WA congressional delegation. In fact there is currently only one woman (and she's a Republican.) The current WA reps are Jim McDermott(D), Jay Inslee(D), Rick Larsen(D), Norm Dicks(D), Brian Baird(D), Doc Hastings(R), Cathy McMorris(R), Dave Reichert(R), and Adam Smith(D). If you don't know that I really have to wonder if you're actually from WA at all.

LoveMyYGOP -- it's fine to criticize Burner for "only" living in the state for 10 years, but that doesn't make it right to lie about her educational record or other aspects of her life.

I take such as an admission on the right that they are proud of their collective ignorance, and hate thouse who aspire for higher academic achievements. If you want to attack someone for minimal eductaion- look no further than Sarah Palin...

The right wants to train all its minions to hate such universities because they encourage critical thinking. They want minions who will mindlessly follow their leaders, parrot slogans and get all upset with anything liberal. Liberals, on the other hand, criticize not only the opposition but its own candidates and each other and are not threatened by diversity of thought.

It's what I call the "Takes One to Know One Syndrome," where you're doing something shady so you think your opponent, your boyfriend, your coworker, etc. is doing the same thing, but then you're wrong. (Like, you're thinking about cheating on your boyfriend therfore you develop this suspicion that he's cheating on you.) So maybe I should call it "Takes One to Know One + a Smidgen of Paranoia and Narcissism Syndrome."
I'm a Democrat and I live in Seattle and I would vote for Burner if I was in her district (Jim McDermott is my Rep) but she has run a very negative campaign-much more so than Reichert. This is not the Republican smear machine going after a poor, innocent grassroots candidate. It's Reichert responding in kind after months of attack ads from Burner. Sorry but that's the way it is. I hope Burner wins but this story is flat wrong on the facts.
I'm in Seattle too. and I see her ads in a different light. The latest from that do-nothing Dave 'It only took me 25 years to catch a guy nicknamed 'Green River Gary' by his Kenworth coworkers' Reichert is the arse who is all negative all the time. And lying. Lying about his alleged accomplishments, while lying about Burner's academic record.
Her ads have focused on her accomplishments. The shit on Reichert ads are coming from another source, like the Democrstic Party, or a Democratic Party interest group, or groups, and there's no Burner tag in them ("I'm Darcy Burner, and I approve this message"). She really has no control over stuff her campaign does not produce.
Maybe. I think I've seen at least one negative ad with her endorsement but I could be mistaken. But by the same token most of the negative ads aimed at her have not been endorsed by Reichert. I don't recall if the latest slew of "She doesn't really have an economics degree from Harvard" silliness is approved by Reichert or not. That's district (Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Mercer Island) is full of rich people though so it tilts right.
Would love to see Reichert get beat. Self-aggrandizing chump. Acted like he was the only one who solved the Green River case.
