Rove, O'Reilly whine about those mean liberals who 'coarsen' politics by talking about sex affairs

Apparently, Rip-Van-Winkle-like, Bill O'Reilly and Karl Rove simply slept through the 1990s, when Republicans couldn't stop obsessing about the Mighty Clenis and its powers of seduction.
Yesterday on The O'Reilly Factor, they both were mewling piteously about the mean liberals who are having a bit of a heyday with Mark Sanford's Appalachian Trail Adventures:
O'Reilly: Some in the Muslim world believe in stoning people. Apparently, some in the USA believe in stoning as well -- stoning with words.
Because, of course, Bill O'Reilly never attacks people with his words. You Pinhead!
What really got Rove's goat was Paul Begala, having the audacity to point out that he, like a lot of us, have had enough of the GOP's Holier-Than-Thou schtick, which they use with great regularity to beat liberals about the head and neck for their supposed "licentiousness".
Rove: I guess what it comes down to is when you get to socially liberal ideas like abortion, and like gay marriage, the left will seize on any opportunity that they think they have in order to condemn those who are pro-life and pro-traditional marriage. And it's just -- you know, there are people who are maybe moderate in their views on economics, or maybe nationalist on their views on international affairs, but when it comes down to social questions, they're liberal, and it's an instinct, and they cause a lot of people -- you know, like Paul Begala.
O'Reilly: I was just going to say that. Is that unbelievable?
Rove: Unbelievable. I don't recall -- you know, who exactly is accusing him of being a poor father or a poor Christian or not a patriot. But this sort of artificial victimhood -- and again, the purpose of it is, is to say to people --
O'Reilly: But wasn't Begala the guy, that it was just about sex, he and Carville were running around -- that's all they said for two years!
Don't you just love it when the guy who perfected right-wing victimhood as a phony schtick indulges it right there onscreen -- and then accuses the left of it!
And O'Reilly misses his own point: Begala was obviously complaining about Republicans' propensity to condemn all liberals as "immoral" based on a single person's failings (see, e.g., the right-wing claim after Sanford that "liberals are more to licentiousness"). Which is now the position he and Rove are trying to claim -- while accusing Begala of the opposite.
But the real capper was this:
Rove: What we saw last night was the coarseness and ugliness in American politics, carried forward by people who claim not to be political actors, but commentators and observers. And they gave the lie to their so-called neutrality or objectiveness last night.
Quoth the cohort of Lee Atwater and the man who "makes [Charles] Colson look like a novice".
The right's projection strategy is reaching absurd heights these days. But it at least makes for some amusing TV.

Their lying hypocritical behavior is so transparent now, and no one calls them on it, that they know they can say anything, even if it overtly contradicts what they've said before or their own actions. And their is no policing from the corporate masters, they don't care. And the outrage at all of this....is limp at best. I remember the days of ethical journalism and journalists for speaking the truth. But those days died a long time ago. Just saying "shut up Fox" isn't going to cut it anymore, unfortunately. Something must be done, and believe me it'll be painful and unpleasant because we've let this go on far too long.

Even if o'reilly hadn't made the falafel gaff, what he said to Makris would have been hilarious. Anybody ever use a loofa sponge before? They're rough as hell. Stoning with words? Are you serious? That's almost as bad as claiming congressional Republicans are akin to Iranian protesters. What happened to personal resposibility? I guess it doesn't matter when you're a Republican. They think they are somehow allowed to make the same mistakes as Democrats but shouldn't be called out on despite the fact they claim some kind of moral superiority when it comes to "family values". The more I read from "saint" Jenny Sanford, the more I admire and respect Mark Sanford. Living with that woman, he deserved some happiness. Judge his performance as governor based on what he does for SC - don't judge what the man does privately. His emails should not be public fodder. In a perfect world, he will reunite with Maria.
Mr. Sanford is being bashed for his unrepentant hypocrisy, and for irresponsible abandoning his post for his hypocrisy. He is/was a GOVERNOR of a state. He HAS no privacy, he is a public official. This is why education is so important. It may be the only workable solution to the mess we're in now. People need to be taught how to think for themselves. To reason. Where I live, the GE, or as it is sarcastically know here, "Generous Electric," was the major employer. (They moved out on us.) It had management on all the school boards. They needed employees for many positions, from research, upper management, down to toilet cleaners. The curriculum for each school system was different, so as to provide them with fodder for their business. The poorer parts of town produced the least educated people. This technique seems to have spread across the country. The GE is also famous for bargaining techniques with respect to a form of union busting. GE: Innovation at its best...and worst. Corporations own everything.

Doesn't he have a RECESSION (that the Republicans had NOTHING to do with) to take care of?"
And now, we've got admissions from the Gov of South Carolina that he detoured a trade delegation to Argentina, who is not supposed to GET trade junkets (because they reneged on loans) for a BOOTY CALL!!! Even if he paid for this "excursion", how many of the previous "delegations" were to further his adulterous affair? This, from a governor, who is to "principled" to take stimulus money for his constituents, but is willing to take their money to go see his girlfriend.

In reading the link, there is so much more to it than projecting the right's own qualities. Those have nothing to do with it.
Never, ever forget the right wing think tanks. Those have always been the source and the vetting place for all the daily talking points. Since their inception, that was one of the main functions of the think tanks. The right wants to control the discussion, above and beyond everything else, as a means of controlling information going out to the country.
Part of that is to get every one of their people on the same page. That it the reason for the daily talking points, of course. But what goes into those talking points is considered very carefully -- its wording, its impact, its knee-jerk quotient, its consistency, and its life expectancy. Not enough focus has ever been spent on those think tanks. They are the engine of all of these projections - from those daily talking points to Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, et al.
But the "projections" that do the most damage are the projected representations of Liberals and Progressives, of Obama and his nominees. They "inform" the public, as to what liberals think, with what liberal goals are, and all of it is simply whatever makes their side look good. And all of that is orchestrated at the think tanks. But the projected representations are not - IMHO - primarily from the ids or the darker sides of the conservative parrot heads, or even from conservatives at all. They paint liberals in any way the think tanks tell them is useful to their purposes. Period. If some of that matches the conservative dark side, I am certain it is only a coincidence.
As a strategy, this has worked for them for a long time, as the general population had gotten a more and more negative idea of what liberalism is. ONLY when Obama stepped up and immediately shot these projections/representations down (and with Reaganomics/greed almost taking down the entire global economy) did this effect begin to be addressed effectively. The Democratic Party never has had a concerted counter-strategy, so the projections/representations have always just hung out in the air, with no counter-arguments for people to latch onto.
Online this has not been so much a problem, but in the MSM it has been a disaster for the Democrats until recently.
I've been waiting for about 7-8 years for someone to begin to combat this projected representation, of the right telling the world what the left was about. Thank the gods that someone is attending to it, at least to some degree. We can't let them have THEIR word and then also let them tell the world what OUR word is, too. That is a horrible situation!
Kick their asses, people! And use some "coarse words" along the way. Screw 'em if they can't take their own medicine.
