PolitiFact editor Bill Adair is refusing to back down on his site's "false" rating for Rachel Maddow's claim that Wisconsin was on track to have a budget surplus.

After Maddow executive producer Bill Wolff sent a letter asking for a correction, Adair responded by saying no correction was warranted.

Maddow noted last week that just because you have "fact" in your name doesn't make it your work true.

Speaking to Howard Kurtz on CNN Sunday, Adair stood by his decision.

"What she just did was mislead everybody," he insisted.
