Houston Police shot an armed man near City Hall today in the area where Occupy Houston is located. He had fired several shots, and then taken aim at Occupy protesters who attempted to calm the man down and convince him to stop shooting to no avail.

Houston police say they confronted the man and shot him twice in the ankle. He was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital by ambulance and was said to be conscious and breathing.

Witness Reggie Green said he had just gotten off of work and was walking by the park when the shooting happened.

"First thing I hear is guns going off -- pow, pow, pow! The second thing that I see is that two other guys trying to up run up and try to tell him to calm down, points it at them then he shoots it inside the water," Green said. "Third thing that happened is officers saw it going around the park. They went around the park and it was just mayham."

No connection between the shooter and Occupy Houston, say police. If there were a connection, I believe the standard operating procedure nationwide now is spray, beat bloody with baton, and then shoot, but then I could be wrong. It has happened.
