Backstage Weekend featuring Dire Straits, live from Vallehovin Stadium, Oslo Norway - July 30, 1992.
Dire Straits this week. A concert from Vallehovin Stadium in Oslo Norway on July 30, 1992. Dire Straits were one of those bands whose rise to fame was pretty fast, and something of an anomaly at the time. Playing straight ahead and stripped down Rock in 1977 when Punk and Stadium Rock were the prevailing genres of the day.
They hit with audiences almost immediately after signing their first record deal and had a string of hits as a result, eventually selling some 120 million albums during their tenure from 1977 until their breakup in 1995.
This concert, an almost whopping two hours worth, was recorded at just around their peak and it's a great sounding gig that's been making the rounds in various circles the past few years.
Here it is, complete - with the first half on the top player and the second half on the bottom player.
Something to keep you in the holiday mood, get you in the holiday mood or provide background for that stack of books you've been meaning to tackle all year.
