Julian Joseph - London calling.

Heading into overseas territory tonight for a set from the 2002 London Jazz Festival from November 16, 2002 featuring Pianist Julian Joseph and a quartet featuring the late and legendary Johnny Griffin on sax.

As much as I like posting live dates from the 40's and 50's, there's an immense wealth of great talent, not only up and coming, but well established overseas in recent years. Julian Joseph has been around for a while, and may not have the instant name recognition to an older audience of fans. But his material is great and his talent is far reaching.

He performed more than one night at that Festival and also in a number of settings - between this quartet setting, and also his big band as well as with strings. I'll be putting some of the other shows from this Festival up in coming weeks.

But for starts, here's a taste for an hour's worth.

Check it out.
