Major Lance - one of the legendary voices in Deep Soul.

Going along with what I said on last night's post most, but not all the artists in the Deep Soul/Northern Soul idiom were relegated to obscurity. Major Lance was a legend in his own right with a string of pop and soul classics going back to the late 1950's. Even with such memorable hits as "Um,um,um,um,um,um" and "The Monkey Time", he carved out a niche in the Deep Soul catalog and tonight's track is one of those. Issued in 1968, during his tenure with Dakar Records, I have No One is in the classic Deep-Soul form, and despite it not charting, it's one of those neglected gems we all hear so much about.

Deep Soul Week continues.
