Blanche Lincoln, here we come!

We spent almost all day yesterday filming our commercial spots which target Blanche Lincoln's non-support of a vibrant public option at the C&L Bat Cave. Digby, d-day and BNF's were amazing. Gordon Skene of Newstalgia also joined the crew and did a bang up job.
I want to thank the readers that have donated to Blue America's Campaign For Health Care Choice so far. We can still use your help. I told you that we weren't going to sit by and watch and we're getting to work.

Change We Can Believe in?
I'm not so sure anymore.
...guys were pushing this hard for a universal plan. I'm not going to give a dime to anything pushing for a "public option" because I just don't believe it will work. The paid off congress critters and their corporate bosses just aren't going to allow it.

It feels like a "public option" is being pushed because our expectations are low, and we don't truly believe single payer is possible.
Talk about self-fulfilling prophecies. If we were working this hard over single payer instead of buying the obfuscating "public option" line, this conversation would be totally different.

They think we are all a bunch of Neanderthals out here in the Hinterlands...away from the Beltway.
Any ordinary person realizes that when two sides are going to enter into "negotiations" for a "compromise" or "settlement", one party ALWAYS begins with an over-the-top proposition. Then it goes down from there.
These guys/gals are smart. Since they are bought and paid for by big corporate health insurance/pharma they were undoubtedly told to be CERTAIN that there was ZERO chance for any final legislation to bite into their profit margins.
Therefore the negotiations BEGAN with SINGLE PAYER/MEDICARE FOR ALL being OFF THE TABLE!
Duh.
And where do the negotiations begin?? With a watered-down "PUBLIC OPTION". Even if the House comes up with something even half-baked, the Senate will kill it to the point that it is useless to uninsured/broke/sick Americans.
We are about to get screwed....again.

...an advocate of universal health care. I don't know where or when that changed, but NOW is the time to be pushing for it when 75% of the country wants it.
If he had even a little spine, he could withhold DNC funding and his own support for the DINO's if they don't step into line on this. Just tell them that any Dem who opposes them next time around will get his support. How hard is that?
The repugs simply don't even matter on this, they are so far out of touch. They need 50 votes. They'll have the tie breaker in Biden so they only need 50.
For someone like Feinstein to say he doesn't have the votes is crap. 75% of us say that's total bullshit. Since when does 75% of the population not amount to political will? Answer: when politicians acknowledge the fact that they don't give a shit about the electorate, they will do the bidding of their corporate masters.
Single payer!

What this means is that the Blue Dog Republicrats *ARE* very much vulnerable.
Now, what happens when you corner a wounded animal? Politically, things could get very interesting as the Blue Dogs' viability becomes more and more tenuous. Look for them to start doing some unpredictable things.
Just as an afterthought, this point is the very reason Arlen Specter calls himself a Democrat right now...his future as a politician was in doubt, so he made a move.

I have her listed as a friend on Facebook, and it's usually nothing more than a stroking of her ego with the comments. However, yesterday I started off with as sarcastic remark and three others joined it.
Yeah, it was four of us, but I think once other voices join in and not be so shy, maybe just maybe we'll get through to her.
As an Arkansan, I think Lincoln got scared with the last election results (which nearly overwhelmingly voted for McCain and his poodle) and thought for some reason she has to be more conservative. She couldn't be more wrong.

While Bernanke at the Fed and Paulson at the Treasury personally ordered the controlled demolition of several banks and other financial entities that failed due to the past 10 years of Wall Street gluttony enabled by Lincoln and her other cronies friends on the Democrats side which left 10 banks only in charge of 50% of America's wealth and indebted the sh** out of the rest of us, we just learned that our debt will skyrocket for years and maybe for decades more at the hand of the Fed alone. Good Jobe ..Blanche!
According to statements just made by Bernanke in the hearing underway in Congress, we absolutely are now at greater risk to allow any of these 10 banks to fail - because their are so few of them now.
Wall Street covered their ass and those of their friends quite well.
Because they now have the runaway power to f*** you - and keep hacks like Blanche in office.

I watched Ken Lewis in a cnbc interview early last year BRAGGING about how Bank of America does business, directly or indirectly, with 50% of all American families.
How about just making the banks regional? Let the bank president see the face of the customer he is foreclosing on at the local grocery store. He might come up with more creative ways of keeping them in their homes.
Regional wouldn't have the dollar power needed, I don't think.
Your point is right on though. I know I loved my local Chase Bank employees and they made frequent corrections to help the locals from the destructive measures taken by the Wall Street gods.
My principles would never condone Wall Street's perversions - so I dumped Chase all together for a small local bank.
That may be the better option...knock those 10 off their f***ing pedestal - and give it up to our homey banks!!

People like Blanche Lincoln have no shame, and spending ridiculous amounts of money airing ads in an attempt to shame her doesn't seem very productive to me. Perhaps the progressive community would be spending its time and money move effectively trying to move votes that are, you know, actually moveable?

Blanche and her pals are bitching about the 'potential' debt of health care for everyone- while sitting quietly on piles of money taken from all of us and given her constituents by the
Fed and Wall Street.
Going into debt to protect 10 banks -keeping them 'healthy' is the right thing to do -ain't it Blanche?? That's okey dokey in her world.
What really drives her and her kind to the brink of madness is the thought of spending one lousy tax dollar to keep millions of actual people healthy. Hey that includes little babies Blanche -you know, the ones your kind is willing to kill for to protect, or used to anyway??

It's time for this woman to be exposed for what she is. Blanche Lincoln is not only opposed to a public option for health care, she also takes the position of the moneyed elite on other issues as well. She is opposed to the Employee Free Choice Act. She voted for the CAFTA "free-trade" agreement, which sent more American jobs to sweat-shops in Central America. She voted with the Rebublicans on Bush's bankruptcy bill. Those are just a few lowlights, there are many others. With Democrats like this, who needs Rebublicans?
