C&L's Donation Drive '09: Day II

It's day two of our C&L '09 fundraiser. We're reaching out to our readers and asking for your help so that the MSM and Corporate media do not overrun the blogosphere with Villagers. With ad revenues way down and the corporate elites funneling in millions of dollars to compete with us, it's going to be hard for all blogs to thrive and survive.

David Neiwert, who is the best expert we have today on right wing hate talk radio and hate groups, has become the managing editor of C&L.

Jane Hamsher writes:

There are lot of people on TV saying irresponsible things about the shooting at the Holocaust museum (one mentioned the "Obama effect," as if this was something that Obama's election precipitated).

If any TV bookers are looking for someone knowledgeable to speak on the subject, they should call David Neiwert. David blogs at Orcinus, he's the managing editor of Crooks & Liars, he's an expert on the subject and the author the new book The Eliminationists: How Hate Talk Radicalized the American Right.

David actually predicted something like this in the book. You can find more on the book here on David's book salon, which was hosted by Digby.

If any media folks need contact info for David, drop me a line.

Thanks, Jane, for your kind words about David. He'll be on the air this morning on MSNBC and has been a great addition to the site. Our initial goal is to reach at least $50,000, and the target is to get up to and beyond $100,000. Day I of the donation drive: C&L's Donation Drive '09: Please help save blogs before we're overrun by the corporate media was awesome. Yesterday we had over 200 people donate and hit the six thousand dollar mark, which was really a great start. I know this will take time and energy. I'd like to pay more money to the people that help make C&L a good blog and I do need to hire a few more bloggers and staffers because the workload is so tremendous.

I'll write more about this in the next posts, so please, donate if you can. You can also use snail mail to make your donation.

Mean machine

never mind that C&L brings a lot of information to us for us to bring our own opinions to the table, you guys want to critisize JA for asking for donations. You remind me of republicans that always want something for nothing.

If I were looking to join the team, where would I send my resume and would you be interesed in a blogger/staffer with a lot of AP style writing experience and almost 18 years of military experience?

Tim

I'm a former technical/general copy editor with about 20 years' experience. I have copyedited websites before, have some HTML experience, and have good references. I could work really, really cheap because I'm on disability and can't make much money or it will endanger my benefits. I'd love to help make C&L succeed. May I submit my résumé?

Makes ya wonder don't it. Certainly there has to be ONE Left leaning Corporation somewhere on this planet.

leaps to mind.

in 2000 nice story while it lasted.

They snipped the ponytails and traded it in for the Hamptons.

Oh.

Did not know that.

Bummer.

Okay then, how does one get each of these "visitors" to chip in a buck a piece?

if only...

I've paid my rant. I wish it could be more. You all certainly deserve it.

Down to Earth

@JA

John...just sent some love. The work you do is invaluable, and thanks also to David, Susie, bluegal, et al for their contributions to the public discourse. You're a several-times-a-day must read.

From an On-Line perspective, what game plan is currently more successful, PlayStation or Xbox? What's the difference(s)?

Us know-it-all's, love to interject our point's of view irregardless of it's respective factuality.

You'll get out of life what you desire, in direct proportion to what you contribute. Who coined the phase... time is money and why?

I would happily pay a fee for the right to inject my opinion(s) on this site, instead of sitting on the sidelines in angst. I believe any normally honest individual, would yearn for factuality, as well as having the chance at discrediting same.

Just a few thoughts to kick around, how it is applied, is for you to decide! Life changes day to day and as an individual, so do ideas and opinions...

Keep up the [admirable] work... Keep thinking and continue to be just, for justice's sake. I'll assume your mailbox is the same. Thank you for [All] you do! ♥

It's a spillover from isle #6 and It could be [of] great importance? Unless [of] course, you are an "Eliminationists". :)

Bygones?

I'd like to see the creative humor and or scorn of the respective SM's [cease and desist] rulings, in addition to the current [cookie-cutter] notice so often supplied.

I'm sure in a short time, an adequate archive could be assembled and efficiently attached to the currently predominate notice...

"[Comment Deleted By Administration For Violation Of Terms Of Service]"

It's not unprecedented, and to me adds a personal flair to what often seems a cold automated response. To simply assume ones intent and or meaning... may retard discussion, absent the relative point or true reason for the admonishment of the corresponding SM's notice.

For example... [You've been warned before, not to be obsessively combative... take a cold shower and try again - xxxx Terms Of Service]. or [in this forum, compliments will get you further then cannons... please try again - xxxx Terms Of Service]. As is fact, by the time your able to address an issue or particular comment or reply, an author or observer may not recall what was said that was inappropriate, due to the fact, the evidence is removed. A simple chiding may ring a bell in more ways than one?

I believe laughter is the best medicine... just another thought for you and your readers to Digest. ;)
