Condoleezza Rice plays the terror card over Afghanistan and says we'll be hit if we leave
There's been a Condi Rice sighting, everybody! And she brings good news with her. She says that we'll get hit with another terrorist attack if we leave Afghanistan.
In a new interview with Fortune Magazine, Rice offered extremely sharp criticism of the idea of withdrawal and painted the consequences of this course of action with an almost Cheneyesque bluntness.
"The last time we left Afghanistan, and we abandoned Pakistan," she said, "that territory became the very territory on which Al Qaeda trained and attacked us on September 11th. So our national security interests are very much tied up in not letting Afghanistan fail again and become a safe haven for terrorists.
"It's that simple," she declared, "if you want another terrorist attack in the U.S., abandon Afghanistan."
As the Washington Post reported Monday, Obama is rethinking all aspects of the U.S. strategy in the Afghanistan in light of the disputed presidential election, an increase in U.S. casualties and waning public support here in America.
In the interview, Rice did acknowledge the recent election as a setback. But she argued that our own experience with democracy proved that it takes time to get things right: "Our democracy wasn't so perfect at the beginning either," she said, citing her own family's experience in the pre-Civil Rights era.
This comes from the woman who ignored the NSA memos about Osama Bin Laden which warned her that terrorists might fly planes into buildings. This comes from the woman who lied about those nasty aluminum tubes and said: "We don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud." Let's continue to follow her down the road paved of blood.

What give rice any credibility? If you remember it was bush/chenny and the rest of their cabal that were in charge when we were hit on 911. They did nothing to prevent or even try to prevent it from happening. After 911 what did they do to help protect the country? Can you name one thing they did that has helped make the country safer? Did they improve port security? Did they step up inspections of shipping containers comming into our country? The answer is NO!

The 9-11 attacks were planned in flight schools in Florida, hotels in Spain, an apartment in Hamburg Germany.

And she was a co-signatory in September 2000 to the Policy for a New American Century, so we already understand her RethugliKKKlan credentials. But she is a shining superlative example of the Peter Principle, which basically states that executives will always rise above their level of competence. There is no other non-Machiavellian conspiracy theory to explain her disservice to the American people in the execution of her sworn duties as the President's National Security Advisor.
There are video clips (sorry, no ready link) of her stating in April 2001 that Iraq's Saddam Hussein posed no threats to the USA or Iraq's neighbors -- that he possessed no WMD. Was she so narrowly focused upon the PNAC plan of action against Iraq's oil wealth that she was unable to discern any possible threat to vital domestic American interests, in spite of repeated warnings from Richard Clark about al-Queda?
Of course, post-9/11 at the start of George W. Bush's stolen second term, she was rewarded for her personal loyalty to the President by being made Secretary of State.
