Poll: PBS is the most trusted name in TV news as Fox plummets. The price of being O'Keefe'd
Fox News has now lost their perch as most trusted news in the PPP's newest survey. However, since PBS wasn't polled last year, I'd say they never had that distinction in the first place.

In the space of one year, Fox News has lost its perch as the most trusted TV news network in the US and is now average at best, a new survey has found.
A poll gauging public trust in TV news has found that PBS is the most trusted name in news, while trust in Fox News has dropped significantly.
According to a survey from Public Policy Polling, "a year ago a plurality of Americans said they trusted Fox News. Now a plurality of them don't."
In a survey taken a year ago, PPP found that Fox was the most trusted news network, with 49 percent saying they trusted the network, and 37 percent saying they did not. In the new poll, 42 percent said they trusted the network while 46 percent disagreed.
The new reigning champion is PBS, which was not included in last year's inaugural poll. The public broadcaster was found to be trusted by 50 percent of respondents, and distrusted by 30 percent -- the closest any news network has come to gaining the trust of a majority of Americans.
Fox News has found itself in roughly the same place, trust-wise, as NBC and CNN, but still above ABC and CBS, who were trusted by 35 and 36 percent, respectively, in the latest poll.
PPP notes that trust in the network declined only marginally among conservatives, from 75 percent to 72 percent. "But moderates and liberals have both had a strong increase in their level of distrust for the network -- a 12-point gain from 48 percent to 60 percent for moderates and a 16-point gain from 66 percent to 82 percent for liberals," the institute reported...read on
They lost 12 points of trust with moderates. As Digby says, who are these people? Anyway, it's good to see some people understanding the truth, but it's really taken a lot of crazy-town to convince them and as the election draws near, the amount of crazy will surely rise to incredible heights.

that can be an accurate statement that is representative of a majority of Americans, that FOX is the "most trusted" name in news, I just dont buy that a majority could, or ever did, think that FOX could be trusted more than any other media outlet. I have to think that sooner or later the truth will win. Fox is a joke. Really, a joke. A bad joke but a joke nonetheless. Humor. Silliness. The thing is that you and most/some people here know what to trust and what to question.
BBC and Al-Jazeera are the only mainstream media outlets I trust to be even remotely factual. Aside from them, I get most of my news from various sources on the Internet - I have to wade through a lot of shit to find the genuinely reliable sites, but once I do find them I've noticed they tend to be far more trustworthy than any major American network.
BBC has a habit of toeing the line and slanting the reporting if it involves the UK in a war.
They won't usually lie (usually), but you won't get unbiased reporting either.

Ideology aside, Fox principally exists as a money-making organization. They have an agenda to push, but they are still a business, and if the current model is causing them to lose support at this rate that will rapidly translate into lost ratings, lost advertisers, and, thus, lost revenue. So, what's the next step for them? Now that they are actively mistrusted by a majority of both moderates and liberals, and are even starting to see a slight drop in support in their target market (conservatives), will they respond by becoming more centrist and mainstream in an attempt to recapture the public's trust? Will they move further right in the hopes of tightening their hold on the conservative market? Or will they attempt to actively discredit the other networks, operating under the assumption that they don't have to win as long as they make sure everyone else loses?
....Simpsons and Glee. I don't watch Glee but I know its popular with some people. For me, Glee is almost as annoying as sarah palin's or michelle bachmann's voice.

Though the house was eventually sold to pay the bank and restitution to his victims, it wasn't a bad gig for the wife and kids for several years.
And so his credit is ruined. So is mine, for much smaller issues. And I haven't been convicted of any federal offenses (yet). But I'd bet that this guy will be in a new mortgage, driving a new car, etc, long before I will.

Years of slashed funding and increasing corporate support have harmed PBS (& NPR's) balance. The importation of castoffs from Commercial TV also continues to pollute NPR & PBS. PBS NewsHour is as villager as it gets and stocks it's discussions with 3 NeoCon Think Tank types and only rarely anyone that resides more than 15 minutes outside the beltway. Republican talking points go unchallenged and accepted as common wisdom.
Nova has notably softened it's science reporting and selection of subject matter since David Koch has become a major funder- etc. They cancelled NOW and replaced it with the atrocious Need To Know.
Faux Newz is a brand and not even deserving of any comment other than it's Murdochvision.
