...the Catholic Church is really not in a position to justify playing favorites within the flock by only denying communion to those people whose views conflict in very specific ways with church doctrine. If you sincerely believe in the importance of strict adherence to church doctrine, you should be prepared to enforce it across the board and penalize anyone and everyone who insists on maintaining views which conflict with those of the faith -- not merely those whose supposed sins you find it particularly convenient to chastise. Certainly, pedophiles shouldn't be left off the hook.

I gather that the Catholic church believes in degrees of sin -- but even though I was raised Protestant and taught that all sins are equally wrong in the eyes of God, both churches nonetheless teach that absolutely nobody is capable of escaping sin. The church is not a place which permits half-measures...either everyone is guilty to at least some degree, or nobody is.

Where's the equal justice in this country? Obstruction of justice is a crime. The Bishop needs to be brought to justice if he is protecting pedophiles... and all his brethren doing the same. The selective prosecution by the U.S. government shows how much they follow the Constitution and choose NOT to apply the Rule of Law equally. Haul his ass in and he'll squeal like a pig... and buy a truckload of wine for Kennedy's next communion.

I visited this church on a field trip as a child. It's the church where John F. Kennedy married Jacqueline Lee Bouvier on September 12, 1953

I recall one of the tour guides pointing out a particular light in the church and making the claim, that the light-bulb in the lamp had never burnt out since the marriage or founding of the church or some other extremely uncommon amount of time, considering the average life of a light-bulb, as if to imply it was protected by a higher power; needless to say I was in awe, the main word being was.

We were visiting the church for it's historic value to RI, as we also visited the original Newport Creamery; The Newport Creamery has a rich history. The company's roots date back to 1928 when Samuel Rector, who was already in the milk business, took over a dairy on Van Zandt Avenue in Newport, Rhode Island and became a wholesale milk distributor. Four years later, in 1932, Mason Rector (Samuel's son) joined the business. In this year, the Company also entered the retail business when it began to deliver milk house-to-house on Acquidneck Island. The business grew and prospered as the Company focused on providing quality service to its customers.
