I had a good laugh when I saw the different purchase options that drum-deity for hire Josh Freese (NIN, Goo Goo Dolls, DEVO, Sting, A Perfect Circle, The Vandals, many many more) made available for his new solo album, Since 1972, especially this one:

$20,000 will get you a signed CD/DVD, plus you get to play miniature golf with Freese, singer Maynard James Keenan from Tool and Mark Mothersbaugh from Devo. After the outing, Freese promises to "drop you off on the side of the freeway (all filmed and posted on YouTube)."

Sure enough, a Florida fan, Thomas Mrzyglocki, 19, shelled out the 20K to spend a week with Freese and his rockstar friends, and I have to say that after reading about it and seeing pictures of the absolutely elated and awestruck fan that the transaction seems incredibly non-exploitative and that Freese really went all out to make sure that Mrzyglocki got his money's worth: mini-golf with Maynard, pizza with Mothersbaugh, free tickets to Puscifer and the privilege of sitting in on sessions with the best session drummer in rock. Looks like a good time had by all.

Will other artists follow suit with deluxe packages?
