yet, this is a basic tenant of the neoliberalism we export, and that we, as a country, have studiously avoided paying attention to for decades.
as has been demonstrated time and time again, cutting social services facilitates an increase in corporate profit and the further reduction in the quality of life for the majority of citizens.

but i see your point. there is a safety net for the ruling class, yet the middle/lower class are falling thru the cracks. the evil-classic 'privatization of profit and socialization of risk'
that said, there are still social programs that the ruling class and the "free" marketeers would love to eliminate in order to privatize.

obama voted for the vitter amendment to the homeland security funding act. that amendment expressly forbids the confiscation of weapons during times of emergency. no one ever mentions this.

I love how all the pro-war combat dodging cowardly conservatives want to keep their guns to shoot at defenseless animals at home,. Not to keen on going over seas to defend America against something that can shoot back though.
We want to make sure that all drivers are insured but they don't care if you have health insurance.

You know what just occurred to me? Is how we fund our schools with the proceeds from a gambling operation (state run lotteries). But if the education was effective, nobody would gamble (knowledge of statistics and how casinos work)
