Depends on who Oral Roberts U. is playing.
in our corrupt congress donate vast sums of
ourit would have been our future cash to the Fat Cat Wall Street Crooks. This largesse keeps them from going into Bankruptcy Court where they belong. That, after all, is the normal bailout procedure. In that court most of the Credit Default Swaps and other Frankenstein Securities would get torn up.In Bankruptcy Court documents we would learn many things, perhaps the counterparties to all those Swaps and Frankenstein Securities.
But it is Government by the corporations, for the corporations… and their buddies. In Bankruptcy Court we might have learned who the buddies are.
But the Fat Cats live to swindle another day. They take the money we gave them and lobby congress for whatever. More money, sure, why not. Protection from unions, they don't need any stinkin' unions.
This is the beginning of the end of the American Empire. It might even be the middle.
I will sing this song as long as I have breath.
Factories and stores may close, but no aircraft carriers have been decomissioned and no foreign military bases have been closed. Indeed, since the recession started, there has actually been an increase in the number of carriers, and there are more foreign military bases than ever. The business of America seems to be the business of war.
The Military is a major business in and of itself, of course, in fact it is a major racket.
But it isn't the Empire per se, it is a tool to protect and project the Empire. The American Empire is an economic empire, but it won't last.
The 'Defense' Budget for '08 was $583.283 billion.
These numbers are not all inclusive. The 'Wars' are funded by appropriation.
The amounts spent for the Financial Sector thus far are $3.3 trillion.
As vast as it is, the military pales in comparison.
This is a vast kleptocracy and the amounts are not sustainable.
here here Smedley.

blech @ the sniveling whining atheist. i'm an atheist and my goodness there are too many who do more harm than good. that attitude just pushes people away. let christopher hitchens hammer in the logic. the sniveling outrage is unnecessary.
My opinion on running up the score in high school sports is this: they're your kids, they've worked hard for you, and the best ones might be trying to get scholarship money to college. A few extra points here and there might make the difference in which school they can go to. You don't have to apologize for doing the best thing for your kids.

Obama would be an accessory to war crimes if he fails to prosecute Bush Administration

Let the cognitive dissonance begin for the Obamabots...
said much the same thing in October.
There absolutely MUST be war crimes trials.
some might consider all non native Americans accessories to War Crimes.
no...we gave them casinos and cigarette tobacco shops.
that squares it.
doesn't it?
to make light of their fate.
Ricky, I'm not being callous. If it helps you from where I am coming from... I know that the US govt/corporatocracy since about 1945 has the deaths of a little over a billion people on its hands...
how many did Stalin kill?
how many did Mao kill
how many did Pol Pot kill?
how many did Hitler kill?
How many did they above kill altogether?
No where near as many as the US has, by its military, as well as its control of the world economic model.
Lies, War, and Empire - Part I
Michael Parenti -- On The Media! Part 1/2
You ask how many these various people killed, that is a good question.
We hear that Stalin killed so many, where do we hear it from? The reactionary propagandistic American Corporatocracy.
Mao? The same.
The Corporatocracy has waged a propaganda war to bolster the reasons for their existence and their vast profits since the end of WWII.
The needed boogiemen and they created them when none were handy.
They are still at it.
Pol Pot, he was bad wasn't he? We are told so. But at the very same time in the '70s there was massive slaughter in East Timor by the Indonesians, our allies, and there was not a word out of the Corporatocracy.
Hitler we got the information more directly.
I am not saying the others were not bad, but how bad.
Listen to Parenti. Comparative morality with so much blood on our own hands is risky business.

with your agreement.
Arrest,
Prosecute,
Imprison.
I loved it. It's a good example of why I stop reading the New Testament at the Gospel of St. John. If Jesus didn't say, why is part of Christianity?
Can we at least bring back the stocks? Seriously, some of these corporate bastards would've suffered far worse in past eras. Prison would be good for them, but I'll settle for cutting off daddy's credit card for them.
