Mike's Blog Roundup

Southern Poverty Law Center: The smears, lies, and eliminationist rhetoric emanating from the right in this election cycle aren't surprising to many observers.  Membership in various hate groups has been rising steadily since 2000.  These people aren't just preparing themselves to go into opposition, they're preparing themselves to dispute the legitimacy of an Obama presidency -- in ways that could, if taken to extreme, lead to another Oklahoma City, or worse.

Dean Baker: Any paycuts on Wall Street yet?

the talking dog: Charges against five Gitmo detainees were dropped because of prosecutorial misconduct and political intervention.

Buck Naked Politics: Ben Bernanke endorses Obama. Why wouldn't he?  There is a place where Bernanke, and others, can get help.

slacktivist: Payroll tax

Morning Martini: Will the young people turn out?

Do you think anything can be making McCain quake with rage more than the fact that no one stood up for McCain when Bush smeared him horribly in 2000, and now that McCain is doing the same thing, everyone, many from his own party are decrying his shameful tactics?

HaHA!

Weeee! Thank you for linking to my Morning Martini today, Mike. Your drinks are always on the house. :)

when he writes: "These people aren't just preparing themselves to go into opposition, they're preparing themselves to dispute the legitimacy of an Obama presidency -- in ways that could, if taken to extreme, lead to another Oklahoma City, or worse."

I think they're ginning up for an internal, guerilla terror campaign of bloody, violent actions against hated ("anti-American") opponents, which would be ....US

I think the sheer number of votes for Obama will drown out these low lifes and they will crawl back under the rocks they call home.

I think we should arm ourselves...juuuust in case Woody's right...
though I'm hoping like mad that you're right PoP!

45 years ago I did basic training, and learned how to make that matter...

All it takes is one grumpy asshole with access to weapons.

In America there is going to be a lot more than just one of those.

I think this should be taken much more seriously.

It is interesting that the you seldom hear of any member of these hate groups actually enlisting in the military. If they want to harm people of other races so badly, you would think that would be the ideal outlet for them. Are they cowards? All talk? Pick on someone weaker? I don't know.

On MSNBC they were talking about a poll that said that voters thought Palin was a bigger drag on McCain's campaign than bush.

Add in the fact the RNC paid out over $100,000 for her clothes and make-up is another nail in the coffin. Jesus! I can look good and my budget is zero!

If you read the newspaper endorsements, you'll find Palin is the #1 reason for endorsing Obama.

McCain likes to claim to be a member of the party of Lincoln. Maybe he should remember "A house divided will not stand." There is probably nothing he would not do to win.

top to bottom...

"On Monday, a Missouri-based television reporter asked McCain whether he was proud of a smear-laden mailer sent out by the RNC on his campaign's behalf. McCain's reply: "Absolutely."

I hope the Southern Poverty Law Center kicks some skinhead ass.

I've always admired Morris Dees. The man has a lot of courage and conviction to do what he does. I'm sure he's had many death threats and assassination attempts over his life.

...Susan Eisenhower bitch slapped Bay Buchanan for questioning Obama's character and repeating of divisive GOP talking points.

like your life depends on it.

This is a pleasant video that some someone just forwarded me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4QSaGzuZ0w

Go watch this youtube titled "If babies could vote". I promise you it is the sweetest video out there about Obama. Ladies it might may you cry because it's so good and gentlemen, you may find a tear in your eye as well. Please take time to watch it and don't forget to turn on your speakers.

Thanks... Great video. For a big bad bicker, it brought tears to my eyes.

...I want to believe!

This has to happen. We can't have another 4 years of mean-spirited GOP "governance".

I have now watched that video four times and I enjoy it just as much every time. I liked how he is so at ease with every little child.

POP,

Took a quick gander at your site. Your banner image and copy is very nice. Clean and easy on the eye. Nicely done!

Thank you very much. The banner was created and installed for me by another blogger not long after I began the site, almost three years ago. He also made the little avatar that pops up when I comment on other sites. He was so sweet to do that for me.

Hey! C&L greets me when I get here!

It's taken a bit of doing, even as you all have been polishing things up, but the new look and feel of the site is growing on me!

Now let's check out th' Roundup...

Protester Tries to Handcuff Rove

Hilarious.

I found it depressing.
It should have been the Secret Service, and he should have been Tasered repeatedly.

That little white turd talking his hate for everybody was nauseating.

Can I get a melanin transfusion from somebody?

Subject: Protect Your Right to Vote Now

We are on the eve of one of the most historic elections of our time. And the last thing America needs right now is another election that leaves us uncertain of its legitimacy.

Unfortunately, there are enough shenanigans going on to raise serious concerns.

The biggest of them all: Attorney General Mukasey and the Department of Justice (DOJ) are walking away from their sacred responsibility to guarantee smooth and fair elections.

While the government is engaged in a highly-publicized attempt to raise the specter of voter fraud against groups who have been working hard to register poor and minority voters, DOJ is doing little -- if anything -- to deal with the real problem -- hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, of registered voters who may turn up on Election Day just to be turned away.

I just asked the DOJ to take decisive action before Election Day to protect the right to vote for everyone. You can do the same here:

Election officials should concentrate their limited resources on expanding access to the ballot box and protecting voters. Demand that the Department of Justice act to protect voting rights.

Looks like Bible Spice spent some of that $150K on this scarf riddled with Democratic donkeys.

Go, go, SPLC!
