Never underestimate the power of hate. There are plenty of neo nazi groups in this country. There are also alot of solitary people, like Timothy McVeigh, who carry around a whole host of anti-government demons inside. They only need a catalyst, real or imagined, to set them loose. Oklahoma City, Columbine, the recent church meeting shooting...we see it every day.

The GOP played with fire when they began to placate and empower the extremists in this country, simply to win elections. Given the ever growing nastiest of the rhetoric in this country, it would not be too hard to set that tinderbox off.

I don't know if Sarah Palin does represent that kind of threat. What i do know is that it is very possible that if it isn't her, it could be someone else.

I just heard Ted Stevens say that he had not been convicted of anything, he just has a case pending against him. The tv announcer said that Stevens believes as long as his appeals continue, the conviction doesn't kick in.

Mr. Stevens, under the law, you are now presumptively guilty. And, while you of course have the right to appeal your conviction, the burden of proof to negate your conviction is on you, you arrogant puke. There is no longer a "case pending." it has been concluded, with a finding of "guilt beyond a reasonable doubt."

Sen. Stevens is just representative of the elitist attitude of people in power, who think that the rules don't apply to them and that any excuse that can be made up is good enuf to justify their own view of reality.
