Woooohooooo!!!!

FilthyHarry's picture

Yes, I can be petty. That's why one of the things I look forward to is if Sen. Stevens holds onto his seat as it looks as if he will, then Gov. Palin who threw him under the bus has to go back to Alaska to be governor and work with the most powerful man in Alaskan politics. And they say he has a temper. hee hee.

CMINCA's picture

Harry Reid has already said they will not allow Stevens to serve, even if he is re-elected.

I could see Palin putting herself into that Senate seat, running in 2012 as a junior senator, like someone else who just became president.

FilthyHarry's picture

Because someone abused that power in Alaska before, the gov can no longer appoint replacements. There will have to be a special election.

And even if Reid pulls it off, it'll take a while.

CMINCA's picture

Is there anyone who isn't corrupt in Alaska? My God! Thanks for the info.

Can someone have an emotional hangover? That's the way I feel today. I can't concentrate on anything and I cannot remove this silly smile on my face that someone put there last night.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

I haven't felt hope in 8 very long and weary years. I just don't know what to do with myself.

I'd like to congratulate all the ordinary Americans who voted for Obama. Having to endure those long lines, voter fraud, wingnut ridicule, viral neg ads. You should be proud of the fact that your vote is extremely important to the hopes and dreams of ordinary people throughout the world.

Margeaggedon's picture

last night from the never ending stream of reich wing idiots was the fact that they were all babbling as fast as they could about how surely Obama would 'do the right thing' and 'reach across the aisle' and how reslugs shouldn't worry because he wasn't just going to you know run the govt like a dictator or anything.
HA!
So they're basically afraid Obama is going to be gw douche the III ?
Are they out of their minds?
Oh wait... of course they are.

From the Campaign Website:

You did it!
Thank you. You did it. You showed America -- and the world -- that change can happen. Thank you for the miles you walked, the doors you knocked, the phones you rang, the hard-earned dollars you gave, the spirit you committed to this campaign. Thank you for never wavering, even when the days were dark, the clouds grayed the skies, and the rain poured. Thank you for tuning out the static of the cynics and believing in your power to change this country. …

some on the RIGHT are trying to hang on to something.... like identity. so we will hear the country is center right. personally i'm not sure where we are at yet. maybe it's in the eyes of the beholder. i sense
a center LEFT. it will depend on the war(s) and the economy. how will new leadership govern these issues?

where is Joe the Non-Plumber? Wasn't he supposed to deliver Pennsylvania or Ohio to McCain? Where you at, Joe?

CMINCA's picture

Joe the Plumber is delivering Palin's clothes to Goodwill.

Obama's supporters may wish to be careful and think twice for what they have done. During Obama's speech last night he declared "To those who would tear the world down, we will defeat you." This warning to America's "enemies" comes on the heels of a news report which said that 35 Afghans were slaughtered Tuesday by a U.S. air strike in southern Afghanistan. One has to wonder if the United States has simply substituted one warmongering president for another. Obama also stated that America will bring "peace and security" to the world. It is extremely doubtful if the Afghans and Pakistanis and Syrians will fell very secure with an [alleged] peace candidate like Obama in office.

Erroll's picture

What you seem to be conveniently ignoring is that Obama, that [alleged] man of peace, has specifically stated that he wishes to redeploy two to three brigades of American soldiers to Afghanistan where they will undoubtedly continue to inflict more misery and suffering upon the Afghan people [as well as quite possibly the Pakistanis, since Obama is in favor of Bush's decision to send U.S. forces into Pakistan's territory. It also should be noted that the [alleged] anti-war candidate stood mute when Bush ordered U.S. forces into Syria, which resulted in the unjustified deaths of Syrian civilians]. Again, it does not bode well that Obama has already engaged in militant rhetoric even before he has stepped foot into the White House.

theWalrus's picture

You might wanna try "standing mute" for a while.

That way, you won't sound like such a complete cretin.

I think I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so.....

Erroll's picture

While what I write may be negative it is also the truth. Your claim that I am a "GOP troll" is also becoming, to use your word, quite tiresome as well as incorrect since I have pointed out numerous times how Obama is just as belligerent as Bush and McCain. I seriously doubt if a "GOP troll", as you so childishly put it, would admit that Bush and McCain are warmongers. Obama fans are great at deflecting criticism of their idol from the right but when it comes from the left they end up reacting emotionally instead of intellectually.

Obama, an agent of change? No, more like an agent of the status quo.

liberalNmoderation's picture

So...you're not a troll...fuckin FINE!
Whaddya want? A goddamn medal?
What's your goddamn point then?
Who would you rather see in the catbird seat?

You won't damage my serenity today pal.
We won. Deal with it, accept it, or go away.

Batocchio's picture

Erroll, you're hardly the only one who's noticed some of Obama's hawkish rhetoric or is concerned about it. (Have your read Cernig's posts here, for example?) You also must be aware that, sadly, the Beltway only considers someone serious if they promise they'll blow the crap out of foreigners if need be. You'll hardly be alone if Obama does in fact act like Bush. But Obama has also, rhetorically, always shown much more nuance, and has always shown better judgment. Your concerns are duly noted and shared by quite a few. And on that note, it's not as if everyone who supported Obama is blind and you alone possess blazing insight. It's also not as if someone can't share your concerns and still disagree with you on specific actions and policies. I'm not sure I've ever seen you acknowledge either of those things, and it hurts your message. Personally, I'm strongly anti-war, and have concerns about Obama's rhetoric about Afghanistan, but I'm also most concerned about what Obama actually does. Also, while some aspects of Obama's policy on Iraq may raise questions, it's very hard to argue that he's not faaaaar better than Bush and McCain there, since neither one even wanted an exit strategy.

Batocchio

It "hurts my message". What message, that Obama is a warmonger? You acknowledge that "Obama's policy on Iraq may raise questions." MAY raise questions? With all due respect, talk about looking at this with rose-colored glasses. Are you actually aware, as I attempted to point out before, apparently to no avail, that this "alleged" anti-war president-to-be wishes to leave from 50,000 to 80,000 American troops in Iraq even after his phased withdrawal has been finally completed? Are you actually aware that this "alleged" anti-war president is going to leave 100,000 civilian contractors in that country and that would include the infamous para military organization Blackwater? To help you out here, that means close to 200,000 American forces will be in a country where 4.7 million of its citizens have become refugees and 600,000 to 1.2 million of them have died since the United States illegally invaded their country.

Why in God's green earth are you possibly defending Obama's desire to leave American forces in Iraq? Or are you going to fall back upon the position that Obama is somehow showing "nuance" and "better judgment". Allow me to attempt to make it very clear to someone who is, unless I am mistaken, a liberal. Those troops do not belong there. Period. Let me try to break it down even further for you. Would you like it if there were foreign soldiers patrolling the streets where you live and especially if those foreign soldiers were carrying assault rifles? The Iraqis, as far as I can make out, have never threatened you or anyone else in this country. Therefore, logically, they do not belong there.

Obama's position is just as wrong vis a vis Afghanistan. Unlike 1964, when LBJ lied to the American people when he told them that American soldiers will not be fighting in a war that Asian boys should be fighting, Obama has been very up front with sending two to three brigades to that country. Yet despite that bald assertion, Americans seem to have no trouble with the fact that those soldiers will be contributing to the misery and suffering of the Afghan people.

On Tuesday, a U.S. air strike wiped out 35 innocent Afghan civilians. Those people cannot be returned to their families because they were ripped apart by 500 and 2000 lb. American bombs. There is no great mystery or, as you are trying to spin it, nuance to this. Obama is going to be escalating the war against a country whose citizens have never threatened anyone in these United States in order to perpetuate the bogus GWOT.

Given those facts, it is, to quote a line from the film Casablanca, poor salesmanship to claim that Obama is "faaaar better than Bush and McCain" as the Iraqis and the Afghans [to say nothing of the Pakistanis] would hardly agree that having U.S. troops in their countries which end up slaughtering its citizens for no justifiable reason would hardly make them grateful that President Obama gave the orders that enabled those atrocities to happen.

Personally I am not so excited. With the worst president in the history of the United States in office, getting a 28% or lower approval rating, an illigal and unjustified war costing lives and billions, the economy milting like an iceikle in hell, and a candidate running to continue the same policies, McCain receives 48% of the vote. California writes discrimination into the state constitution. Michele Bachman is re-elected. Just a few examples. What does it take to wake up the people of this country? The vote for president was way way to close and if but the economy truning at the right time the facists would have won again. I am happy that Obama won but the country has a long long way to go.

CMINCA's picture

It could be worse. It could be president-elect McCain and vice-president elect Palin.

Rayc you live in a very conservative country full of evangelical extremists. You won't see that change for at least a century. Be thankful there is a party called the Democrats who can squeeze in a Presidency once in a while to keep the Barbarians from the gate.

Erroll,
While Bush is still running the military all bets are off. Yes we will still be fighting the oppressive govt, in Afghanistan and looking for Osama bin Laden, live with it. I don't agree with the Nth Pakistan or Syria invasions on Bush's watch. Thank god you actually have a president now who actually spoke out against Iraq when no-one had the balls. There are many oppressive govts all over the world, I wish we could invade Zimbabwe and save the starving people there. Erroll, who do you want as president- a knight in shining armour? I'm realistic not to expect world peace in our time ever again. The world's resources are shrinking and the fight for its resources is only going to get ugly.

StirFry's picture

I've been to Alaska. It's a beautiful state with very nice people, but after this election, I just don't know. Convict Ted Stevens just might be re-elected.

Wow.

But I shouldn't say much because I'm from Texas. John fucking Cornyn was just re-elected. NOTE: Honestly, I don't think Noriega's campaign was strong enough.

A new day!!!

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times; it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness; it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity; it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness; it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair; we had everything before us, we had nothing before us; we were all going directly to Heaven, we were all going the other way."
