GOP Senators opposed to Clean Energy Jobs Act are ignoring bill’s benefits to Americans—Part 2 - http://www.grist.org/article/2009-11-06-senat...
The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee passed the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act (CEJAPA), by an 11-1 vote. Earlier this week, we outlined six benefits of the bill and explained why the bill should be passed by the committee. Here are nine more benefits as the legislation moves forward.

How a Public Jobs Program Could Put America Back on Track - http://www.alternet.org/workplace/143710/how_...
Absent public job creation, it is likely that the economy will not fully recover. The official unemployment rate stands at 9.8 percent. But the Bureau of Labor Statistics acknowledges that the adjusted unemployment rate -- including part-timers looking for full-time work, and those who don’t look for work because they don’t think work is out there -- is as high as 17 percent.
This means that one in six Americans does not have a job. Among certain subgroups -- notably older Americans and blacks -- the unemployment rate exceeds Depression-era unemployment.

The glow from a health care triumph faded quickly for President Barack Obama on Sunday as Democrats realized the bill they fought so hard to pass in the House has nowhere to go in the Senate.

They have no shame...
I post his stuff a lot...and its the only way they can steal elections...
But I'm not going to stop voting because of it...I'm going to make those greedy SOBs at ES&S steal my vote...
Here in NM we changed to paper and ink ballots.
All vote are still counted on optical readers (UGH) but I will make them steal my vote. At least I feel better about it, somewhere there is a piece of paper with my vote on it and they have to steal it.
... have no place in American politics. All states need to emulate NM and OR, where paper and ink ballots (with a mail-in system, if desired) are verifiable. We don't need a repeat of the stolen 2000 election, which gave us the worst president in U.S. history and the biggest deficit as well. Even the mechanical machines were better than the electronic ones, as they kept a running tally. Thanks to Brad for his story -- and his amusing term for the electronic machines.
the '08 Presidential election. I can't say that I have any more faith in that method than the old Diebold machines. Give me something that gives me a carbon-copy receipt of what I put in the box!
"letter to Sarah Palin from her publisher"
A great way to start the day - with a chuckle!
Thanks
My Hat's off to MB. It's no easy feat to maintain such clarity and beautiful writing for so long on these Intertubes. It's been a true honor getting to know him, even just as writing colleagues and allies in arms.
The only good reason to go without a paper trail is if you intend to rig the vote and that's the reason any Republican wants to go electronic without paper trail. Simple, obvious and with the kind of contempt for the electorate only Republicans are capable of.
The Palin piece is funny, and "roulette" is right.
