If the country had listened to Jimmy Carter in 1977 about his energy plan and then balanced it with appropriate components to save the ecology we could be where we need to be today.

In 1977 it would have been a glide path away from fossil fuels.

Unfortunately the country didn't listen.

Today, to get to where we need to be is no longer a glide path, it is a full crash into the mountain.

Cap and trade will do for us what listening to Ronald Reagan did for us.

Carbon derivatives will make someone at Goldman Sachs much richer than they already are.

They will not save us.

The following companies contributed money to Sen. Ben Nelson. Call Sen. Nelson at 1-202-224-6551 and tell him that until he requests and gets his antiabortion amendment out of the health care bill you refuse to do business with the following Nelson contributors.

Keith said last night that Beck lost one third of his audience of young people last month. I'm guessing that's because they were busy writing their letters to Santa Claus.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

Unfortunately, I'm agreeing more and more with James Hansen's fight against it...there's too much that can go wrong. What's more unfortunate is the alternative of taxing pollution, which con-servatives around the world will claim will bring about the second coming...

White House says leaked email story "silly" - the science is clear - http://www.desmogblog.com/white-house-says-le...
According to an AFP story out today, the Obama White House has dismissed as "silly" the idea that climate science is in jeopardy over the Climate Research Unit leaked emails.
"I think everybody is clear on the science," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters. "I think scientists are clear on the science. I think many on Capitol Hill are clear on the science. I think that this notion that there is some debate ... on the science is kind of silly."
Of course it is, but it hasn't stopped Republicans, their friends in the 'free-market' think tanks and Cluster Fox Noise from trying to make this minor controversy into some kind of worldwide conspiracy.
I wonder if 100 years from now, the textbooks will talk about how the 21st century equivalent of the flat-earth society that tried and failed to keep the human-race stuck on fossil fuels?

Senate Dems May Open Up Medicare. Now that's an Option that would benefit the Public.
Senate Democrats are discussing the idea of expanding Medicare by lowering the age at which the elderly could enter the government-run insurance program. The proposal would lower the age of eligibility for Medicare from 65 to 55, though an age limit of 60 has also been suggested. Crucial details -- such as the timing of the implementation of such a reform -- were not provided due to the sensitivity and ongoing nature of the deliberations.
A high-ranking Democratic source off the Hill confirmed that such discussions are taking place.
